13 Tuesdays Novena 2023

"St. Anthony's Life"

with fr. Mario Conte

Seventh Video Meditation: Prayers

Dear Friend of St. Anthony,

the 13 Tuesdays is a very old tradition, thought to have begun shortly after Saint Anthony’s death in 1231. Tuesday was chosen as the day for this devotion because Saint Anthony entered into eternal life on a Tuesday.

This year the 13-Tuesdays Novena begins on March 14 and will offer you the opportunity to rediscover the life of Saint Anthony and preparing for June 13.

Every Tuesday on our page the reflections of our fr. Mario will open your eyes to the great themes of faith and will take us on a discovery of St. Anthony's life, his ongoing search for love, truth, justice ... his search for God.

Every Tuesday at 6 pm CET it will be also possible to follow the live streaming of the Holy Mass and the 13 Tuesdays Novena prayer from the Basilica of St. Anthony.

Asking God to bless you and all your dear ones, I am sincerely yours in Christ,

in humble prayer before the High Altar. And so will begin the Easter Octave of Masses: every day for eight days we friars will pray for all those who look to our beloved Saint for guidance and support in their lives. Our prayers will end on the second Sunday of Easter, April 16 2023 Divine Mercy Sunday, a feast proclaimed by Saint John Paul II himself.

I would dearly like to include your name, and the names of those you love and have loved, in our Easter Octave of Masses.

Light a Virtual Candle and Write a Prayer to our beloved Saint for you or a loved one. It is the greatest gift you can give yourself or someone you love.

Dear followers

today St. Francis is reminding us that we are all sons and daughters of God; and that we are therefore precious brothers and sisters to each other, and also to nature and all of creation. And he recommends us to live our lives in goodness and solidarity, helping especially those most in need, because that is what one does when one loves.

Thank you St Francis for being a model and inspiration for all of us! Please help us to be people of solidarity and action, so moved by prayer, encounter, and understanding that peace can become a reality.

Surely you know about the deep bond that unites St Francis and St Anthony, Francis’ beloved disciple. But perhaps you do not know that they are also united by an extraordinary event relating to bread. You will surely have heard of “St. Anthony’s Bread”, also called “the Bread of the Poor”, but perhaps you do not know that St Francis also performed an extraordinary deed in relation to bread, and precisely during the harsh winter of 1224. Watch the video to discover more!

Happy Feast of St. Francis!

Peace and all good.

Dear Friend of Saint Anthony,
the news and images arriving from Ukraine continue to leave us with a sense of pain mixed with impotence.
As I told you a few days ago, we immediately started collecting funds to help our brothers in Ukraine, Poland and Romania, who are committed to welcoming those fleeing the bombs and assisting those in need.

Today I am writing to give you some updates on what we are doing thanks to the donations from the friends of St Anthony.

Our fellow friars in Poland and Romania have opened their convents to take in refugees, especially mothers and children. They try to give them accommodation, hot meals, blankets. They spend as much time as available with them, listening to the stories of the refugees, because those who have been so badly injured often simply need someone to be there for them, ready to welcome and listen.

In the convents in Ukraine, located in the cities of Kremenchuk, Boryspil, Lviv, Bilshivtsi and Mackivci, they assist the homeless and those in need of food, hygiene and medical care, or help people escape and reach the border.

The situation is getting more and more difficult, the humanitarian crisis is getting more and more difficult to manage. Will you help us too?

I leave you with the words of thanks we have received from our friars in Ukraine, words of thanks for the closeness of all of us to their suffering:
We thank benefactors from all over the world: the General Curia of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual in Rome, Provinces, Custodies, Provincial Delegations and Convents, Parishes, companies, associations and communities and last but not least private individuals.
We thank you for your prayers and on our part we promise to pray.
Every Sunday we will celebrate Holy Mass for our benefactors.
May the Lord give you peace!

Thank you.
Peace and Good

13 Tuesdays Novena 2022
Second Video Meditation
with fr. Andrea Vaona:

PERSONAL TALENT AT THE SERVICE
OF GOD AND OF THE BROTHERS.

Dear Friend of St. Anthony,

Anthony had lived months of silence and prayer at the hermitage of Montepaolo after having met St. Francis in Assisi. But September is harvest time and an unexpected opportunity does not find him unprepared: the good plant of a man of faith bears ripe fruit, to be shared with those who are always hungry for the Word of God. Not even his foreign accent is an obstacle. This way the prodigy of Pentecost is renewed. From that moment on, the fruits of Anthony’s preaching will satisfy the hunger of many people, even eight centuries later!

To facilitate this in-depth journey of discovery, we have collected all the meditations in a booklet entitled “13-Tuesdays Novena 2022 - St. Anthony’s Miracles” which can be downloaded for free..

Every Tuesday at 6 pm CET it will be possible to follow the live streaming of the Holy Mass and the 13 Tuesdays Novena prayer from the Basilica of St. Anthony on our website or on our page.

13 Tuesdays Novena 2022
First Video Meditation
with fr. Giancarlo Zamengo:

AND NOW IT'S UP TO US!

Dear Friend of St. Anthony,

I believe that for all of us, in the face of difficult situations it is natural to feel the need of help from above, help from heaven... Perhaps no Saint more than Saint Anthony manages to gather in himself this profound need present in the heart of every man. This is true to the point that one of the names used to invoke Saint Anthony is "the Saint of miracles". But a miracle is never an end in itself. It is always part of a broader path that a person is called to take. It is God's breaking into our life to offer us a new opportunity. It is always ... for the glory of God!

With this year’s Thirteen Tuesdays journey, we would like to reflect together with you, accompanied by Saint Anthony, also on this unique and extraordinary way in which the Lord accompanies us in our life.

To facilitate this in-depth journey of discovery, we have collected all the meditations in a booklet entitled “13-Tuesdays Novena 2022 - St. Anthony’s Miracles” which can be downloaded for free.

Every Tuesday at 6 pm CET it will be possible to follow the live streaming of the Holy Mass and the 13 Tuesdays Novena prayer from the Basilica of St. Anthony on our website or on our page.
