Our Midweek Lenten Service still goes on until Palm Sunday according to the Liturgical Calendar.

Old Testament: Isaiah 53:1-5
New Testament: 1 John 3:1-3
Text for today: Luke 15: 1-10

The sermon by our Chaplain, Rev Chijioke Nwachukwu, emphasized on the need to use this Lenten period to evangelize and share the love of God with unbelievers and win them for Christ.

He taught that God finds pleasure in the winning of souls and how much joy is in heaven when one sinner repents.

Ash Wednesday is a significant day in the Christian calendar, marking the beginning of lent a 40 -day period of reflection, fasting and preparation for Easter,

Today marks the beginning of Lent. This day many years ago, Jesus the Christ, turned His back on the world and its pleasures and turned towards the desert in self denial, meditation and prayer to the Father. He took out the 40 days of self separation to prepare for His ministry on earth. The ministry would end in His Suffering, death, resurrection and accomplishing Salvation for man.

REFLECTION:
Ash Wednesday symbolizes
1) Repentance and humility.
2) Mortality and connection to mother earth (dust).
3) Jesus 40-day fast in the wilderness.
On this day many Christians Receive ashes on their fore heads

Following the Master's footsteps, let us use the period for prayer and bible meditation, spiritual soul searching, confessions, repentance, tuned up humility, sacrifice and bold steps!
Let us remind ourselves that we are dust and ashes, mortal who die. "To dust and ashes we must return".
Let us review our hows and aims for engagement with Spiritual exercises: service, fellowships, giving, relationships etc.

We will, by the grace of God, come to the end of the Lenten Season and life for that matter, more disciplined, better equipped to face the world, sin and the devil. We will be more focused, victorious, fruitful and useful!

Set your physical and spiritual targets. Write them down. Possibly discuss with your spouse and family! God, who has called us is faithful. He will help us in Jesus name Amen.

Christians also fast and pray 🙏 and reflect on their relationship with God and personal growth.
