EASTER SUNDAY SERVICE: BISHOP OKORAFOR TASKS CHRISTIANS ON BROTHERLY LOVE

The Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Egbu, the Rt. Rev Geoffrey Enyinnaya OKORAFOR says the Death and Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brought salvation, liberation and victory to mankind.

Bishop Okorafor who stated this in a Special Holy Communion Easter Service at the Cathedral Church Of All Saints, Egbu, said the commemoration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ must make a positive impact on the lives of His followers.

The Prelate while explaining that death on the cross is the most painful death in human history while the Lenten Season is the most strenuous season in the Church seasons, said these seasons in the Life of Christ would be meaningless if Christians failed to let them reflect in their lives.

While praying for peace, tolerance, forgiveness and brotherly love among children of God, stressed that they must shun pride, arrogance, wickedness, unforgiveness, lies, immorality and all manner of vices that draw them away from God.

Lamenting over banditry and terrorism across the country, Bishop OKORAFOR, said the lack of respect for human life especially attack on Christians is an alarming situation calling for urgent solution by the nation's security paraphinelia.

Bishop OKORAFOR who also decried malice, hatred, bickerings, lack of brotherly love and fast erosion of family values in our families, communities, states and the nation, Nigeria, stated that Christians must learn to imbibe the true tenets of their Faith as Christ exemplified.

He encouraged Christians to continually be lifted by Jesus's Victory over death praying that the 2026 Easter will bring joy, progress, true repentance and power over evil.

Jesus is risen" (or "He is risen") is the foundational Christian proclamation that Jesus Christ conquered death, rising from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. Celebrated on Easter, this event signifies the atonement for sin, the promise of eternal life, and validation of Jesus' divinity.

Key Aspects of the Resurrection:

Biblical Foundation: According to the New Testament, Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to his disciples before ascending to heaven.

Theology: The resurrection confirms Jesus as the Son of God, marking the triumph over sin and death, which provides followers with the promise of salvation.

Significance: It serves as the basis of Christian faith, transforming early disciples from defeated followers into witnesses.

Proclamation: The phrase is often accompanied by "He is risen indeed!" as a confirmation of faith.

This event is not just a historical claim but a present reality for believers, representing hope and divine victory.
