The Reign of God: Children and the kingdom of God
8th SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
DATE : August 10th 2025
Sub theme : Imparting positive knowledge on children (7)
Topic : Self-confidence - a tool for lifelong success
Text : 1 Samuel 17:42-49

Aims : to discuss self-confidence and it’s sources and to identify practical ways of developing if for the kingdom purpose.

Introduction: In Christianity, confidence is an assurance of one’s relationship with God. In our text , David, was a youth without previous experience in war but displayed self-confidence based on his faith in God by bodily engaging Goliath, a warlock in battle. Our study guides will beam more light on how self-confidence can be a vital tool that can positively impact the lives of our children when they are taught.

Study guide :
1: What is your understanding of self-confidence and how does David exhibit in his encounter with Goliath? 1 Samuel 17:44-45.
2: Where did David derive his self confidence from and how do you teach that to a child? 1 Samuel 17:34-37; Psalm 27:1-3; Jeremiah 17:7-8; Philippians 4:13.
3: David, the youngest of Jesse’s sons was made a shepherd where he developed his skill in self-confidence. Di scythe practical things we can put our children through to develop their sewed-confidence, especially the shy ones. Proverbs 3:25-26; Zechariah 4:6,7,10; MT 21:21; Philippians 4:13; Hebrews 10:35-36.
4: How can self confidence help in expanding the kingdom of God ? Isaiah 41:10,13; Matthew 10:19,28; Acts 4:31-32.

Conclusion:
As the righteous is as bold as the lion, so is the person whose confidence is based on his faith in God. Therefore, a child that is self-confident becomes a pride of his parents and can successfully face the challenges of life.
Food for thought:
Their self-confident person is a victor.
Memory verse :
Philippians 4:13 “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me”.

The Reign of God : Children and the kingdom of God.
4TH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
DATE : July 13th, 2025
Sub theme : Imparting positive knowledge on children.
Topic: Integrity
Text: Job 2:1-3
Aims : to understand the concept integrity and to discuss the values of integrity and its among children and the church.

Introduction:
The word integrity evolved from Latin adjective “integer” meaning whole or complete. Therefore, integrity is an inner sense of ‘wholeness’ deriving from qualities such as honesty and consistent character. Job, the character in our text today, successfully passed the test of integrity as he was made a reference personality by God before satan. Our integrity is put to test daily by a culture of corruption, falsehood and dishonesty. Our study guide will open us to more discoveries on this vital topic.

Study Guide:
1: Describe integrity in your own words using God’s description of Job in today’s text.
2: identify and mention the attributes of integrity from the following references. Job 2:3; proverbs 4:25-27; Philippians 4:8.
3: Someone tells his child he is not at home when truly; he was sleeping inside the house. Discuss this in line with our topic today and the impact on such a child.
4: How will you apply the following bible passages to impart on your children? Genesis 39:7-9; Daniel 1:5,8; Acts 21:8-9, What are the benefits for an individual or a church with integrity? Genesis 41:39-41; Nehemiah 7:1-2; Job 42:10.

Conclusion:
The Christian’s integrity in the workplace and anywhere cannot be overemphasized as the include: sincerity; loyalty; obedience; moral uprightness; honesty; steadfast commitment to righteousness; and maintaining consistency under pressure. The more we do these, the more we receive favour from God and people around us.

Food for thought:
Do what you say and act what you believe.
Memory Verse: Job 2:3 “The the Lord said to satan, “Have considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you invited me against him, to destroy him without cause.”

Unto the lord shall the gathering of his people be.

THE CHRISTIAN RACE
SUB- THEME : MOTIVATORS IN THE CHRISTIAN RACE
TOOIC: MOSES
TEXTS : HEB. 11:23-29

AIMS :
i. to study the faith that preserved Moses at infant,
ii. to enlighten us on the providence of God for Moses in relation to Christ’s mission on earth and
iii. to discuss Moses as a type of Christ and a steadfast Christian in the Old Testament.

INTRODUCTION:
Moses was born at a time male infants were killed in Egypt in order to control the Israelites’ population. However, the faith of Moses’ mother in the preserving power of God, led her to hide him amidst the reeds of river Nile and eventually Moses was delivered from death. By faith, Moses preferred to align with his brethren instead of the oppressing Egyptians, even though, his faith led him into criminality, but in exile, he enjoyed God’s providence to lead Israel out of the land of slavery.

STUDY GUIDES :
1. How can you describe the faith of Moses’ mother in Exodus 2:2-3 compare with Psalm 23:4-5; Isaiah 43:1-2.
2. Analyze the providence of Gordon Moses according to Exodus 2:5-12, 15; 21-22; Exodus 3:1,7, 10-11.
3. In the context of Exodus 3:16-18; Exodus 14:13-14, 30; Numbers 21:9 and John 3:14-16, how can you describe Moses as a type of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament?
4. Compare Exodus 3:16-18; 4:29-30 with Matthew 28:18-20 and analyze Moses as a type of a steadfast Christian in the Old Testament.
5.
CONCLUSION : God’s mission is to save people and shape them to be more like Jesus . If then we must run a successful Christian race on earth, we must have the type of faith in Moses’ history, because, he serves as the Old Testament type of steadfast Christian.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God’s mission is to save; ponder on your Christian Mission.

MEMORY VERSE: John 3:14-15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life”.

23RD SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
3RD NOVEMBER 2024
THEME : The Christian Race
SUB-THEME : Motivators in the Christian race 8
TOPIC : Joseph
TEXTS : Gen 50:24-25 (Heb. 11:12)
AIMS :
i. to apply this faith to our situations,
ii. to discuss how to plan for life after our earthly race and
iii. to study how Joseph’s goth can motivate our Christian race.

INTRODUCTION
Joseph’s life continues to be a shining example to Christians in all generations. Beginning from his sincerity in giving information about his brothers’ misdemeanor to his father, his chastity i. Portiphar’s house, his diligence in the prison, his prudence in ruling Egypt, his forgiving attributes and his prophetic utterances in his old age, Joseph remains a pillar of faith to emulate. In our study today, we shall discuss these facets of Joseph’s lifestyle and see how they can motivate us in our Christian race.

STUDY GUIDES
1. Compare Gen 37:2b with Exo. 23:2 and Gen 39:7-9 with Exo.20:17. What can you learn from Joseph’s lifestyle?
2. Discuss the diligence of Joseph in Gen. 40:6-8 and the reward in Gen 41:14, 38-40. What lessons can we derive from these ?
3. In a word of competition, hatred, envy and jealousy; compare Gen 37:23-28 withGen 45:4-5 and expatiate on how Joseph serves as a good motivator in our Christian race.
4. What can we learn from Joseph’s preparedness for life after death ? Compare Gen 50:24-25 with Amos 4:12 and John 14:2-3?

CONCLUSION: The faith of Joseph took him through the phases of life to his thoughts of life after his death. As Christians?, we should always run our race in manners that will always look beyond this world to where we shall spend eternity.

FOD FOR THOUGHT 💭: How prepared are for life after death ?

MEMORY VERSE: Gen. 50:22 “By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.”
