First Sunday of February of STEP UP
Sermon Topic - The Love of God
Text - John 3:16, Romans 5:8 & 1John 4:8-10
Objective of the message - To understand the awesomeness of the love of God.

KEY POINTS
Love is who God is. To believe God is to believe love and please him.
Hebrews 11:6 - You cant believe in God and doubt His love because they are inseparable.

When you doubt God's love, 3 things happens;
1 - You develop negative fear towards Him which will make you avoid Him like Adam did in Eden. Gen 3:8

2 - You lose the cover of His glory and become vulnerable to all forms of attacks both physically and mentally. Gen 3:7
- It was loss of the reality of God's love that made Judas succumb to depression and eventually took his own life and so many other su***de victims.

3 - You disconnect yourself from His blessings.
Hebrews 11:6; When you doubt God's love, you automatically doubt His personality and capabilities, ultimately you can't receive anything from Him.

DEMONSTRATIONS OF GOD'S LOVE TO MANKIND
1 - He gave man a proper covering - first with His glory and later with animal skin to hide man's vulnerability and shame. Genesis 3: 11, 21

2 - By removing man from the garden of Eden to prevent Him from eating from the tree of life whilst in a fallen state. If not man would have been irredeemable.
- God actually wants man to eat of the tree of life as seen Revelation 2:7 but only when we are overcomers.
NB: The cherubim and the flaming sword God placed doesn't guard the garden itself but the way leading to the tree of life. Genesis 3:24

3 - He gave up His son to bear the consequences of man's rebellion.
Revelation 13:8 - God already has prepared His son to do the work of redemption even before man sinned and also when the time was ripe to do so physically, He didn't withhold His son. Romans 8:32

4 - He gave us the Holy Spirit. He was the life blood of Jesus while on earth. Jesus was sustained by this Spirit John 6:63 and only He can make God life in the man a possibility. Rom 5:5, 8:11.

Be firmly rooted in the reality of God's love and nothing shall be impossible for you to receive from God. Efe 3:17 - 19.
