SUNDAY REFLECTION
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time โ Year A
: Justice, Faithfulness, and Fruitful Living
Today, being the 27th Sunday in Year A, focuses on Godโs expectation of justice, faithfulness, and fruitful living.
In the Book of Isaiah, God compares Israel to a carefully tended vineyard that fails to yield good fruit. Despite His love, care, and attention, the people produce injustice and bloodshed instead of righteousness. This vineyard imagery reminds us that God expects our lives to reflect His love and justice.
Psalm 80 echoes this plea, asking God to protect and restore His people, so that they may flourish and call upon His holy name.
In the second reading, St. Paul, in his Letter to the Philippians, calls believers to a life of peace, prayer, and meditation on whatever is true, honourable, and virtuous. Through this focus, the peace of God, which surpasses all human understanding, will guard our hearts and minds.
In the Gospel, Jesus retells the Parable of the Tenants. Godโs patience is met with rejection and violence, yet His divine plan continues: the Kingdom of God will be taken away and entrusted to those who will bear its fruits.
Obedience, justice, and faithfulness are what make a life truly fruitful in Godโs eyes.
These readings challenge us to align our lives with Godโs will, to cultivate righteousness, and to bear lasting spiritual fruit.
May we continue to see Jesus in the face of our brothers. And serve him through the Slaves in our Mist as St PeterClaver did, Through Christ our Lord... Amen.
