DON'T LOSE YOURSELF TRYING TO BE SOMEONE ELSE
When I came into ministry few years ago, I listened to every preacher I knew. At some point, I started cloning myself to become like them who God did not make me.I wanted to teach like Apostle Selman. When I mounted the altar, you would ask, Did Bishop Oyedepo give birth to this one? The way I spoke, you’d think I was bragging. is just because of the Faith life of papa, I drank from the rivers of Winners Chapel. I drank from Papa until I practically talked like him. But deep inside me. I was feeling empty. People would be blessed, but I would go home dry. Then something happened one day. I saprate my self to asked God why? Why am I not happy? And God said to me: you are losing your identity trying to look like someone else At first I didn’t understand it. But a few hours later, it hit me. That was the day I stopped listening to so many messages. I limited myself to two voices alone and will listen to them till tomorrow. Unless by chance I hear someone else preach but if not I can't. And then after prayers I began to function in the grace God placed in my life. And everything changed Today many youths are making the same mistake. They are trying to be someone else. And in the process, they are aborting who God has made them to be.
When you do this, 2 things happen:
1. You destroy the generation God sent to look up to you. They don’t need a copy. They need the original you.
2. You chase a destiny God never designed for you.
And that road always ends in failure and frustration, God didn’t anoint you to be a second version of Apostle Selman. He called you to be Me same to you also, The version only you can carry God will use what is in YOUR hand. Not your mentor’s hand.
(Galatians 6:4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor)
Stop trying to sound like everybody. stop trying to dress like everybody. Stop trying to minister like everybody. Find your voice. Find your grace. Find your lane. That’s where your joy is. That’s where your anointing is. That’s where your generation is waiting May the Lord give us understanding.
