OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS
DATE: SATURDAY 6TH OF AUGUST, 2022.
THEME: WHO IS THE WAITER?

MEMORISE: Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured. Proverbs 27:18

READ: Isaiah 40:29-31
29. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

MESSAGE:
The concept of waiting on God is seen as going into a secluded place to make several prayer requests accompanied with fasting. However, during the global lockdown about two years ago, I gave my children a simple but detailed enation on what waiting on God means.
When you visit a five star hotel, a waiter or waitress waits on you to take your orders and makes you comfortable. He/she focuses on you to attend to your food and needs because that's what he/she is paid to do. He/she also attends to your complaints with smiles and sees to it that you're satisfied to the fullest. Thus, when you wait on the Lord, it means you are the waiter while He is the Guest. Unfortunately, many Christians think its the other way round; they bombard God with different requests so much that the purpose of waiting is finally defeated.
When you wait on God, offer Him water and His best food which are quality praise and worship. Eulogise Him so well that He would feel good enough to give you a huge tip (blessing). Mind you, a tip (blessing) from God could last a lifetime.

KEY POINT
How well you wait on God will determine if you will be tipped or not.

HYMN: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING
1. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.

CHORUS
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2. “There shall be showers of
blessing,”
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

3. “There shall be showers of blessing;”
Send them upon us, Oh Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come and now honour Thy Word.

4. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

5. “There shall be showers of blessing,”
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

TOPIC: CONSECRATION

BIBLE TEXT: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
[14]Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
[15]And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
[16]And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
[17]Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
[18]And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 7:1 "Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

LESSON AIM: The children will know the meaning and how to be separated unto God

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to rely on Jesus to be separated unto Him

INTRODUCTION:
What is consecration? Consecration simply means separating oneself for a particular purpose or dedicating to a divine purpose. The Bible tells us that God has created us for His pleasure and we cannot be truly fulfilled until we begin to fulfill this particular purpose, However, we cannot do this without being separated unto God.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
1. It is making God the number one in our lives Matt 6:33.
2. It is letting God occupy the center of our hearts Prov 23:26.
3. It is the desire to always please God above all else Phil 1:21, Rom 8:35-38.
4. It is living a holy life and saying bye-bye to sin Heb 12:14.
5. It is having a hot love for God in us (Rev 3:15-16)

CLIMAX: Consecration is essentially being separated unto God Joshua 24:1 5.

CONCLUSION: Love God with all your heart.

CHALLENGE: The genuine love for God in your heart is the foundation /platform for true consecration (1 John 3:18). It is the genuine love of God that will motivate you to separate yourself unto God and keep away from every form of sin.

INVITATION: To be separated on unto God, you need to believe in Jesus as Lord and Saviour (John 5:24)

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23
[21]Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
[22]Abstain from all appearance of evil.
[23]And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

HYMN FOR TODAY: Take my life and let it be

Memory Verse: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship' Romans 12:1

LESSON AIM: Teenagers should learn and understand what is consecration?

CENTRAL TRUTH: Consecration is a requirement in our Christian journey.

INTRODUCTION: The word consecration can be defined as the act of separating ourselves from things and associations that can affect our relationship with God and dedicating ourselves to God and His kingdom. Joshua told the children of Israel to consecrate themselves for God to do wonders in their midst. Joshua 3:5
Things we should consecrate includes: friends, businesses, fun activities,
The process of consecration can be seen as the human side of sanctification, whereas God sanctifies us through His word, we consecrate ourselves unto God. Our memory verse is a call to consecration.

STUDY GUIDE
How can we consecrate ourselves?
1. Praying with the word
2. Presenting ourselves to God a living sacrifice. Rom 12:1-2
3. 2 Corinthians 6:14

Benefits of Consecration:
1. Divine visitation Ex 19:10, Joshua 3:5.
2. Dominion.
3. Colossians 3:5-14.
4. 2 Corinthians 6:17.
5. Joshua 3:5.
6. Enjoy fresh auction always.

Why do we need to consecrate ourselves to God?
1. Consecration helps us to glorify God in our body - 1 Corinthians 6:20
2. Consecration helps us to become a living sacrifice - Romans 12:1
3. Consecration free from the slavery of Sin - Romans 6:19
4. Consecration helps us to present ourselves as instruments of righteousness - Romans 16:13
5. Consecration helps us to give ourselves to the Lord for his use - Exodus 13:2, Exodus 30:30
6. Consecration helps us to live holy-Exodus 19:10, 1 Peter 2:9
7. Consecration helps us not to live our lives anyhow - Psalm 1:1-3.

LIFE APPLICATION: You can live a consecrated life to the Lord. Make up your mind to make that conscious decision.

CONCLUSION: For us to enjoy all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus, we must be willing to make a conscious decision to dedicate your soul, mind heart, and body to God. Consecration is firstly a life of personal holiness before service to God. It is our personal relationship with God that brings spiritual power which enables us to be a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God.
Full consecration is the highest level we can attain in our Christian journey
Let us desire it and aim at it. The experience of living for and serving God at that level is awesome.

[2]And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
[3]And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
[4]And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
[5]And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
[6]And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
[7]And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
[8]And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
[9]And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
[10]For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

MEMORY VERSE: ACTS 3:19a. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, your sins be blotted out."

LESSON AIM: God is faithful to forgive your sins.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Repent and receive forgiveness.

Jesus died on the cross, so you could be forgiven of your sin and so that you could live forever with Him in heaven, to achieve this, you must confess and repent of your sins. Luke 13:3, Mark 1:15.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Excited that the famous Miracle worker Jesus was coming through Jericho, a tax collector named Zacchaeus determined to see Him pass along the busy street

B. People were everywhere, all scrambling for a good spot. Short Zacchaeus who longed desperately to see hurried ahead and climbed a tree. (though Zacchaeus was a short
man, the reason why he could not see Jesus was because people hated his forceful and sinful way he was collecting taxes from them to enrich the Roman government and himself. The Jews saw Zacchaeus as an awful sinner; someone who has grown rich by cheating his own people
Romans 3:23 says you and I are sinners too and our sins separates us from God. Romans 5:12 and also spoils your relationship with others. That is what happened to Zacchaeus.

C. As He passed, Jesus purposely looked at Zacchaeus and spoke kindly to him. Jesus is God's son, He knew Zacchaeus' sinful ways and how people feel about him yet He loves

Others may reject you because of how you look or what you do but God doesn't reject us. John 3:16. Lord Jesus knew and loved Zacchaeus and wanted Zacchaeus to know Him too that's why He
stopped and spoke to him.

E. Surprised, but very pleased Zacchaeus quickly jumped down from the tree.

F. The offended Jews grumbled because Jesus was being a friend to a man they viewed as a terrible sinner. (the people had no love or concern for Zacchaeus, but Jesus did. Jesus saw Zacchaeus as a person of value as someone who can change completely once he received God's forgiveness).
Jesus; God's perfect son reached out in love to Zacchaeus and He is reaching out to you. He had come to help sinful men and women, boys and girls to find their way to God. He gave His life to save you and me from sin 1 John 1:7b. The Bible says His blood was given as the payment for sin. He died, three days later he rose again. He wants to save you no matter what you have done wrong, no matter what others think of you. And He wanted to save Zacchaeus.

TEXT: Jonah 3:1-10
[1]And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
[2]Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
[3]So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.
[4]And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
[5]So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
[6]For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
[7]And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
[8]But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
[9]Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
[10]And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

BIBLE TEXT: 2 Samuel 12:1-13
[1]And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
[2]The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
[3]But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
[4]And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
[5]And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
[6]And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
[7]And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
[8]And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
[9]Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
[10]Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
[11]Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
[12]For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
[13]And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

HYMN FOR TODAY: I need thee every hour

Memory Verse: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness' 1 John 1:9

LESSON AIM: At the end of this study, teens should know about repentance.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Repentance brings forgiveness.

INTRODUCTION: Repentance is the act of evaluating one's actions and feeling sorry about them and taking a definite step to turn away from such. It is a commitment that proves a change for the better. David is a good biblical example of someone who genuinely repented of his sins.
He adopted the five steps of repentance which are:
1. Acknowledging the sin
2. Confessing the sin
3. Asking forgiveness
4. Turning away from the sin
5. Restoring/correcting the wrong done.

STUDY GUIDE
Steps to repentance, using our text;
1. When we hear God's word and it enters our hearts. Hebrews 4:12.
This is represented by the story Nathan told David. vs 1-4.
2. When we appropriate the word to ourselves and define the sin. vs 5-6.
3. Avoid defensiveness and allow the word to match up with what you have done. vs 7-9.
4. Feel bad about what you have done. vs 13.
5. Desire and determine not to do it again.
5. Take the step to ask for forgiveness. Psalm 51

Hindrances to genuine repentance;
1. Pride.
2. Worldliness, not willing to let go of the things of the world.
3. Satanic manipulation.
4. Lack of knowledge of the truth which is God's word.
5. Lack of fellowship Heb. 3:13

LIFE APPLICATION: Examine yourself and Confess every secret and sin to God to receive forgiveness.

CONCLUSION: Godly sorrow leads to repentance. Be sorry and repent from any sin or wrong doing. If you repent, God will forgive and pardon you. Genuine repentance comes from a broken and contrite spirit. Psalm 51:17
