Preacher: Pastor Kayode Alaka (PiC RCCG Zion Heights Parish. Technical Area. Osogbo)
Bible Text : Luke 18:1-8
Date: 31st August, 2025
Intro
Beloved, we are at the last Sunday of the month — a time to thank God for His mercies, and also a time to press in prayers for permanent victory. Life is a battlefield, not a playground. The Bible says: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). If you refuse to push in prayer, the enemy will try to push you over.
Key Point 1: To Become an Overcomer, You Must Wrestle Against Powers and Principalities
📖 Genesis 32:24-28 — Jacob wrestled with the angel until he prevailed.
Jacob almost became a pushover — slaving under Laban for 20 years while Esau already had 400 men as bodyguards.
But when Jacob wrestled, his story changed, and his name became Israel — “a prince who has power with God and men.”
No destiny is fulfilled without warfare.
🔥 Prayer Point:
Lord, give me the strength to wrestle in prayer until my name and destiny change for good.
Every spirit of oppression pushing me down, be destroyed in Jesus’ name.
Key Point 2: The Devil Understands Only the Language of Violence
📖 Matthew 11:12 — “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”
If you don’t want to be a pushover, you must be ready to push back in prayer.
Example: Mordecai vs. Haman (Esther 7:9-10). Haman plotted evil but was hanged on his own gallows.
🔥 Prayer Point:
O Lord, every gallows prepared for me and my family, let the enemy be hanged on it in Jesus’ name.
By violent faith, I push down every stronghold of the wicked standing against my breakthrough.
Key Point 3: No Slave Master Wants His Slave to Be Free
📖 Exodus 5:1-2; Exodus 14:13-14 — Pharaoh refused to release Israel until God broke his power.
Freedom is never given on a platter, it is fought for.
Failure is not an option: “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small” (Proverbs 24:10).
To stop being a pushover, you must PUSH with persistence.
🔥 Prayer Point:
Lord, break every chain of slavery holding me in spiritual, financial, or emotional bo***ge.
Father, strengthen me so I will not fall or faint in the day of adversity.
Key Point 4: The Ultimate Target is Your Soul
📖 3 John 1:2 — “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
📖 Mark 8:36 — “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
The enemy may attack your body, finances, and relationships, but his real target is your soul.
To be permanently victorious, you must surrender your life to Christ.
Without salvation, prayers may bring temporary relief but not eternal victory.
Closing Charge
Don’t be a pushover! Become a prayer warrior. Like Jacob, wrestle until you prevail. Like Mordecai, stand until your enemies fall into their own traps. Like the Israelites, refuse to remain in slavery — push until something happens. Above all, guard your soul in Christ, because permanent victory belongs to those who endure to the end.
🔥 Prayer Point:
1. Thanksgiving & Strength to Push
Almighty God, I thank You for keeping me till the last Sunday of this month; receive my praise in Jesus’ name.
Lord, give me strength in the place of prayer — I refuse to be weak, I refuse to faint, in Jesus’ name (Isaiah 40:31).
2. Wrestling Against Powers and Principalities
Every power wrestling against my destiny, be defeated by the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 6:12).
Lord, give me the strength to wrestle in prayer until my name, destiny, and story change for good (Genesis 32:28).
Every spirit of oppression pushing me down, be destroyed today in Jesus’ mighty name.
3. The Language of Violence in the Spirit
O Lord, by violent faith, I take back everything the enemy has stolen from me in Jesus’ name (Matthew 11:12).
Every gallows prepared for me and my family, let the enemy be hanged on it, in Jesus’ name (Esther 7:9-10).
I pull down every stronghold of wickedness standing against my breakthrough, in Jesus’ name.
4. Deliverance from Slavery and Bo***ge
Lord, break every chain of slavery holding me in spiritual, financial, or emotional bo***ge (Exodus 5:1).
By the power of God, I cross every Red Sea of limitation; I will not return to Egypt again (Exodus 14:13-14).
Father, strengthen me so I will not faint in the day of adversity (Proverbs 24:10).
5. Securing the Soul for Eternal Victory
Lord Jesus, I surrender my soul to You — write my name in the Book of Life (Revelation 3:5).
Father, preserve my soul blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
Every arrow of distraction, backsliding, and compromise targeted at my soul, backfire in Jesus’ name.
Father, help me to endure to the end, and to receive the crown of life in Jesus’ name (Mark 8:36, Matthew 24:13).
