PREACHER: PASTOR STEPHEN OLUDELE
SERMON: YOU WILL TESTIFY (2)
TEXT: LUKE 4:18-21
The manifestation of God's power in a man's life is called testimony. (John 9:3). It is also the proof of God's intervention in the life of an individual. (Ps126:1) "When the LORD turn away the captivity of Zion...." it was the Lord intervention that turns away the captivity.
The Israelites walked through the Red Sea on dried land as God liberated them from the Egyptians. They saw their enemies perish in the sea, which was a proof of God's intervention.
NOTE: Every individual looks up to God for intervention in one way or the other i.e everyone desires a testimony upon one thing or the other because the needs of man is insatiable.
* A life devoid of testimony is a life of FEAR & FAILURE. Fear of not wanting to fail again and probably may fail.
* A life devoid of testimonies is a life of REGRET & CONSTANT TEARS. (Ps 42:3). Regret about the past, what ought to be done, what ought not to be done, and what would have been done better.
* It is a life of ISOLATION. Such life feels they don't fit into the society or match up with their colleagues, thereby isolate themselves.
* It is a life of REJECTION: Such life feels rejected, thinking it was due to the unavailability of their expected testimony.
* It is considered a life of SHAME, MOLESTATION & REPROACH.
NOTE: ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE DECEITS OF THE DEVIL AND ANTICS OF SELLING HIMSELF TO HUMAN.
Stop believing the words of the devil and others. Here is the testamant of God about you : Isaiah 61:1-7
KEYS TO RECEIVING YOUR TESTIMONIES
1. GET MORE CONNECTED TO CHRIST.
The depth of your connection determines what comes to you. Irrespective of your level of connection yesterday, strive to be more connected. (Rom 8:18,28)
There are 3 levels of connection
a) TRANSACTIONAL: Some Christians relate to God on a transactional basis, i.e., what they want to get from Him. They only care about themselves.
b) RELATIONAL: Some Christians believe they're connected to God because of their connection/closeneas to the altar, but they are actually too familiar with Him, which never benefits any man.
c) COVENANTED: At this level, no one has to force you to do anything for God. You just want to be with Him, to fellowship at all times without attaching a price to it.
Brethren, go increase your level of connection with God to enter into a covenant with Him.
2. SEEK AND RELY ON CHRIST'S WORD ALONE (Ps 119:1-2)
There are many words today; ranging from parents, prophets, friends, and devils'. But seek the word of Christ and choose to rely on it alone. You must be addicted to Christ and to His Living Word.
3. MAKE GRATITUDE YOUR FOOD (Ps 34:1)
As food sustains life, so does gratitude provoke and sustains testimonies. When He has done it. When it has not been done, I will praise the Lord at all times.
4. LEARN TO WAIT ON GOD (Hab.2:2-3)
You don't know the time of God. Your waiting does not end until God decides He's ready. Learn to wait on him alone.
Never bow to idols, cut corners, or engage in dirty acts while waiting.
Walk
Actively
In
Truth
Keep walking with God actively in truth, and your testimony will surely come in. Close your ears to the words of man and believe only on the word of God.
5. MAINTAIN PEACE AND HARMONY
You have to make peace and harmony with whoever it is needed (Gen 32:3-5), If you are seeking testimony, you need to reconcile and do restitution where needed. Many testimonies are hindered by bitterness, hatred, and/or malice kept.
Your heart is too small to accomodate hatred, malice, and your desired testimony.
Always maintain a clear conscience. (Heb 12:14).
6. INTENSIFY SELF EFFORT (Prov 13:4),
There are some testimonies that needs your diligence and be actively active to your work. God does not entertain laziness.
Reduce your sleeping, be proactive to work, be diligent, be focused on what you're doing and be consistent with it, know that God blesses the diligent hand (Prov 22:29).
Ensure you are the best at whatever thing you are doing.
7. SERVE GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY (Eccl. 9:8)
Your testimony is hidden in your place of service.
SERVE GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY when it is pleasing and when it is not pleasing, you don't know when you will touch the heart of God with your service.
Do it willfully, do it deliberately, and do it sacrificially (2Kgs 4: 8-17). It is a privilege to be in His presence, serving Him.
8. BE STRONG IN THE LORD (Eph 6:1, Gen 32:24-28)
You have to be strong in the place of prayer. Collective prayer is good, but personal prayer altar is the BEST.
You must be strong in the Word of God also.
a. Be strong and fervent in the place of the word
b. Be fervent in the place of prayer
Testimonies are birth in the place of consistent word and prayer. You will testify in Jesus' name.
