REVISION DAY 5

Lesson 9: CHURCH DISCIPLINE AND MORAL INTEGRITY.

Memory Verse: "For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you should abstain from sexual immorality"(1 Thessalonians 4:3)

Summary: Every heaven-bound Christian should strive to keep himself/herself morally pure. Moral purity includes sexual fidelity, purity in private and public life.

Holiness is fake when there is no moral purity, whereas, without holiness, no one can please God.

Discipline your body and your mind to live a life worthy trust.

Lesson 10: THE DANGER OF NEGLECTING CHURCH DISCIPLINE

Memory Verse: "Now, no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful, nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it" (Hebrews 12:11)

Summary: When discipline is withheld from erring members, the Church as a whole partakes in the consequences of their sin. It is to escape greater punishment from God that church discipline is applied in order to bring the erring person into repentance.

Both members and ministers need to cooperate to ensure discipline achieves its intended purpose.

REVISION DAY 4.

Lesson 7: PAUL'S DISCIPLINARY INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CORINTHIANS

Memory Verse: "This punishment which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man, so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one swallowed up with too much sorrow" (2 corinthians 2:6-7)

Summary: The lesson emphasizes that Christian discipline, forgiveness, and love are interconnected and essential for the health of a church community.

Discipline, as demonstrated by Paul to the Corinthians, should be motivated by genuine love for the individual and the community aiming for restoration rather than punishment.

Once a person repents, the community is called to forgive and comfort him/her, preventing him/her from being overwhelmed by sorrow.

This act of forgiveness is not just a suggestion but a requirement, mirroring God's forgiveness towards humanity.

Ultimately, living in obedience to God and practicing forgiveness, all bound together by love, leads to victory over division and promotes unity within the church

Lesson 8: CHURCH DISCIPLINE AND DOCTRINAL PURITY

Memory Verse: "Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son"(2 John 1:9)

Summary: Both laity and clergy need to fight the cancer of heretical teachings and attack on the Christian faith and doctrines.

Christians should strongly resist the devil because his goal is to drag as many as he can to hell with him.

REVISION DAY 3

Lesson 5: TYPES OF OFFENCES THAT REQUIRE DISCIPLINE.

Memory Verse: "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, seditions, heresies" (Galatians 5:19-20).

Summary: Discipline is essential to living the Christian life. Personal discipline contribes to corporate discipline.

The Church as the body of Christ is called to be salt and light in the world. Without discipline, the Church cannot fulfill this role.

Absence of discipline leads to corruption and widespread offenses which negates the testimony of Christ

Lesson 6: RESTORATIVE DISCIPLINE: A CALL TO REPENTANCE.

Memory Verse: "Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also are be tempted" (Galatians 6:1)

Summary: Restorative discipline is not just about correction or punishment; it's rather about restoration, redemption, healing and growth, hence, it calls for genuine acknowledgement of wrongdoing, a heartfelt repentance and a commitment to change.

By focusing on restoration rather than retribution, we create an environment where believers can learn from their mistakes, make amends and grow in their relationship with one another and with God.

REVISION DAY 2.

Lesson 3: JESUS' MODEL FOR CHURCH DISCIPLINE

Memory Verse: "Moreover, if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother"(Matthew 18:15)

Summary: Church discipline is not about shame but about healing. Jesus' model teaches us to correct sin with love, to be patient with the fallen, and to keep our hearts open to forgive.

When practiced biblically, church discipline restores relationships, protects church's integrity, and glorifies God. May we embrace this divine order with wisdom, grace, and courage.

Lesson 4: THE ROLES OF CHURCH LEADERSHIP IN DISCIPLINE

Memory Verse: "Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear"(1 Timothy 5:20)

Summary: The call to spiritual leadership in the Church is a call to holiness, courage, and accountability.

Leaders must model godly character, confront sin with love and truth, and carry the burden of accountability before God.

Discipline is not cruelty, it is compassion that seeks restoration and righteousness.

A Church that neglects discipline endangers it's spiritual vitality, but, when leaders walk in integrity and fulfill their role in discipline, the Church remains strong, pure, and pleasing to Christ.

May today's church raise leaders who are blameless in conduct and bold in correction.

REVISION DAY 1.

Lesson 1: THE MEANING AND PURPOSE OF CHURCH DISCIPLINE

Memory Verse: "Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?"
(1 Corinthians 5:6)

Summary: Church discipline is a vital aspect of maintaining the holiness, order, and spiritual health of the body of Christ.

It is not an act of judgmentalism, but an expression of love, aimed at restoration, correction, and the preservation of God's standards within His Church.

As believers, we must understand it's biblical foundation, its purposes, and our collective responsibility to uphold righteousness.

When done prayerfully and scripturally, discipline strengthens the Church and glorifies God.

Lesson 2: GOD'S STANDARD FOR HOLINESS IN THE CHURCH

Memory Verse: "But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy".(1 Peter 1:15:16).

Summary: Holiness is God's non-negotiable requirements for His people and His Church .

It is not outdated, extreme, or impossible, it is God's own nature reproduced in the believer through grace and truth.

As individuals and as corporate body, we must embrace this call with seriousness, conviction, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Without holiness, no one shall see the Lord.

Topic: The Blessedness Of Dwelling In God's House

Bible Text: Psalm 84:1-12

In the Old Testament period, God promised to manifest His presence, first, in the tabernacle and later in temple built for Him for worship.

Worshipers found solace, support and strength as they entered the place of worship.

However, in the New Testament dispensation, God wants every Christian to be consecrated and serve as temple for Him to dwell in.

The gathering of Christians in a place of worship is an occasion for the presence of God to manifest in full power, divine strength is poured out on members, blessings flow to meet the needs of members, troubled hearts are comforted, and yokes are broken.

The Psalmist summaries this by saying "a day in your courts is better than a thousand; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness".

POINT OF EMPHASIS: Christian that are purged of sin enjoy the benefit of God's presence in their lives.

PRAYER POINT: Father, I want to dwell on Your secret place, cover me with Your protective wings

Topic: Christ Seeks Intimate Fellowship

Bible Text: John 15:24-15; Ephesians 5:25-28

Other religious leaders may offer their followers various things but Christ is offering christians a close relationship.

He calls His followers "friends" and not "servants" .

Christ regarded as the bridegroom and the Church is taken to be His bride.

To ensure the bride meets His standard of being a glorious Church that is holy and without blemish, He gave His life for her in order to sanctity and cleanse her.

Christians who live to meet this standard relying on the help of the Holy Spirit, have unhindered access to fellowship with Christ.

Their relationship with Christ is not that of master/servant, but of co-heirs with Him.

He leads them wherever condition they go and feeds them so they do not lack.

He is present with them in whatever condition they have to pass through.

POINT OF EMPHASIS: Jesus Christ does not treat Christians as servants, but as friends.

PRAYER POINT: Father, purge our Churches that we may be have intimate fellowship with You.

Topic: Worship With Reverence And Awe

Bible Text: Hebrew 12:28-29; Revelation 7:13-17

It is only Christians who have washed their robes in the blood of Jesus and keep the robe unsoiled that can serve God acceptably.

Reverence and fear of God make a Christian to run away from sin.

When a Christian abides in sins, his service to God is totally unacceptable.

His offering is indeed and abomination to God.

The worship and service we offer to God in our Churches on earth are mere shadows of what will happen in Christ's kingdom.

Those that are seen gathered round his throne kept their faith in the face of tribulation and kept their robes white.

If at all they accidentally fell into sin, they repented immediately and forsook the sin.

If they had to undergo Church discipline, they cooperate in order to restore them to the right relationship with God.

They did not take the grace of God for granted.

POINT OF EMPHASIS: Turn away from sin that you may serve God acceptably.

PRAYER POINT: Father, grant me the sensitivity to avoid sin and serve You acceptably

Topic: A kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken

Bible Text: Hebrew 12:25-28

In the parable of minas (Luke 19:12-17), Jesus was the nobleman who went to receive for Himself a kingdom.

The kingdom, which is glorious and everlasting, has been delivered to Him.

All kingdoms of the earth shall be shaken and broken, but Christ's kingdom cannot be shaken, rather, it shall exist for eternity.

He is inviting every believer to be part of this kingdom.

However, only those who keep the white robe of righteousness which He gave them can be part of that kingdom (Revelation 7:14).

When a Christian falls into sin, the white robe becomes soiled, thereby disqualifying the Christians from entering the into that kingdom.

Church leaders should be vigilant to see if any member has a soiled robe.

Such a member should be made to undergo discipline in order for him to repent and wash his robe in the blood of the Lamb.

POINT OF EMPHASIS: Christ invites every Christian to be part of His kingdom which cannot be shaken.

PRAYER POINT: I receive the grace and wisdom to keep my robe of righteousness white.

Topic: A Glorious Assembly of Believers

Bible Text: Hebrew 12:22-24

When there is sin that is not yet atoned for in a Church, the manifestation of God's presence is withdrawn from her.

After the person who brought the sin has been disciplined and the person has genuinely repented of the sin, God restores the manifestation of His presence and power.

Beyond this, the Church and her members become part of a greater spiritual congregation on Mount Zion and in the city of the living God, general assembly of the Church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven.

A Church may be full of activities, if sin is condoned among members, they are just wasting time and energy as they are excluded from the assembly of those recognised at the Thorone of Grace.

Both members and leaders of the Church should strive hard to purge the Church of sin in whatever from.

POINT OF EMPHASIS: Only the Church purged of sin has unhindered access to the Trone of Grace.

PRAYER POINT: Father, let the hunger for Your presence in our midst ginger is to purge our Church of sin.
