10TH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY – SERVICE HIGHLIGHT

The 10th Sunday after Trinity was observed with joyful worship, thanksgiving, prayers, and the proclamation of God's Word at The African Church, Ebenezer Parish.

The First Bible Reading, taken from Psalm 107:1–16, was read by Evang. Ashaolu. The passage called the congregation to give thanks to the Lord for His enduring mercy and for delivering His people from distress, darkness, bo***ge, and difficult circumstances.

The Second Bible Reading, from Acts 9:1–10, was delivered by Ven. A. O. Asogbe. The passage recounts the dramatic encounter of Saul with Christ on the road to Damascus. It reminds believers that God can intervene in a person's life, transform their direction, and give them a new purpose.

SERMON

Preacher: Ven. A. O. AsogbeTopic: “Ẹ Wá Ká Fi Ọpẹ́ Fún Olúwa” — Come, Let Us Give Praise to the LordText: Psalm 145:1–9

In his sermon, Ven. A. O. Asogbe encouraged the congregation to make thanksgiving and praise a lifestyle. Drawing from Psalm 145, he emphasized that God deserves our praise because of His greatness, goodness, mercy, faithfulness, and unfailing love.

The message reminded worshippers that we should not wait until everything is perfect before giving thanks. Every breath, every day, every testimony, and every act of God's protection and provision is a reason to praise Him.

The congregation was also encouraged to declare God's goodness from one generation to another, sharing testimonies of His mighty works and teaching others to recognize His faithfulness.

The service ultimately called every believer to move from merely asking God for blessings to also returning with a grateful heart to appreciate Him for all He has done, is doing, and will yet do.

SPECIAL ADVICE

Vice Admiral S. O. Afolayan (rtd), the Baba Ijo of Ebenezer African Church, admonished the congregation on the need for unity and commitment in the service of God. He encouraged all members to join hands together for the growth of God's work, stressing that the church can only move forward when everyone contributes their gifts, time, and resources faithfully.

He further urged worshippers to live a holy and righteous life, reminding the church that true service to God must be backed by purity of heart and upright conduct both within and outside the church.

He also cautioned against negligence and a nonchalant attitude toward God's work, noting that indifference and lack of commitment hinder the progress of God's kingdom. He called on everyone to be more dedicated, responsible, and passionate in all church activities and assignments.

KEY MESSAGE
