YOU HAVE TO RENEW YOUR MIND:

Every believer needs to understand that there’s a change that occurs in our human spirit at the point of accepting Christ.

Our human spirit is replaced by a recreated spirit that carries the nature of God. This is actually what makes us God’s children and is what it means to be born again. That’s the greatest thing that can happen and should happen to any person.

WHY YOU HAVE TO RENEW YOUR MIND
As children of God, we do not possess the old nature of sin and death anymore. We now possess eternal and spiritual life. We can boldly say we belong to God.

But it’s important to note that our minds (or souls) and bodies did not change at the point of salvation; It’s only our spirit that experienced change and became exactly like Christ. Our minds and bodies remain the same!

Our bodies will eventually be changed to become exactly like Christ’s at the rapture (or the resurrection of the saints) when Christ returns into the world; But then, we are expected to renew our minds.

To renew the mind means to change our mindset. We are to correct our thoughts and thinking pattern and start reasoning differently in line with who we are now, and the benefits that belongs to us. This is what we are expected to do through our stay in this world! It’s an endless work, and that’s what brings spiritual growth.

We are to change our mindset by God’s written word because only God’s word can clearly explain our new reality. It explains the things we have received and have been empowered to do.

The more we study, speak and act God’s word, the more the mind gets renewed.

The old contents of the mind and way of seeing God, the world and ourselves in it gets reshaped. We now begin to see things in a new light. We will also begin to see the physical reality of God’s word in our lives. This way people won’t doubt the reality of our salvation experience. We will actively live above sin, sicknesses and diseases, and put an end to the works of the devil in our lives. Our bodies will begin to cooperate with our recreated spirit to express God’s nature.

DECLARE: I will renew my mind to God’s word and begin to walk in the reality of all I have become, been given and empowered to do in Christ. I see remarkable spiritual growth in my life. Hallelujah!

Attuned to the Spirit II

Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas,Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene,Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

(Acts 13:1-5 NIV)

We see from our opening bible verse that God’s word for Saul (who later became Paul) and Barnabas came through in a corporate prayer meeting and they were sent forth to fulfill God’s call and plan.

This bible record gives us insight into the importance of spiritual sensitivity as it concerns our relationship with God. We learn from the brethren in Acts how they prayed and fasted.

Praying and Fasting are important in training ourselves in spiritual sensitivity. By spiritual sensitivity, we become better positioned to know and receive from God per time.

There are Christian folks who thinks ‘fasting’ is not necessary and prayer should be done briefly or whenever you can but that’s wrong. Every believer who wants to mature spiritually and walk in alignment with God’s plans and purposes must cultivate the habit of prayer and fasting.

No one receives or possesses the gift of prayer and fasting. These habits are built through self – discipline and as we do, we never miss God at any moment.

Imagine what the spiritual condition of a Church or a Christian without the practice of prayer and fasting will be? Build spiritual sensitivity!

DECLARE: I’m sensitive to God’s leadings and directives. I walk in the reality of God’s plans and purposes for my life and ministry. Hallelujah!

Attuned to the Spirit I

Imagine knowing what God would have you do at every point in life?

God has what he has planned for us and expects of us in every season and we can’t know this unless we are in tune with Him by the Holy Spirit.

Being attuned to the Spirit means we are positioned spiritually to receive and act on what He will have us do per time and season.

In our opening bible reading, we see Saul (who later was named ‘Paul) and Barnabas being sent forth to carryout a divine assignment, which was God’s plan for their lives at the time.

God might have reached out to them personally concerning this very task but couldn’t get them to understand.

In our Further reading, we have an old testament record of young Samuel who had God’s calling and a season was upon him but couldn’t discern it until the Prophet Eli guided him.

Seasons and timings are important in our relationship with God and fulfilment of His plans for our lives. It’s a blessing to not miss out on anything from God when it’s the season.

DECLARE: I’m attuned to God’s Spirit every time and every season. I do not miss out on God’s plans and purposes for my life.

INTEGRITY OF GOD’S WORD

Integrity is simply the quality of being able to keep to words and promises. This means we can know if a person has integrity and it’s easy to arrive at this conclusion. Just by observing if he or she keeps to his or her words and fulfills promises.

We can as well know a person of integrity from other people’s opinion based on their experience or observation.

Now to these questions: Does God have integrity? How can we prove that to be true? If God gives a word or promise does he keep to it?

We can agree to God’s integrity by proof of His fulfilled promises. Even without a personal experience of seeing God do what He says, we can observe how He makes and keeps to His words from the Bible which contains other people’s opinion of Him.

So, the Bible is replete with several instances where God gave promises concerning what He will do and kept to them

Let’s take some of these instances:

With Noah, there was going to be a flood upon the earth that will bring destruction. God had predicted the coming of the flood, and instructed Noah to build an ark with a promise to preserve him and his family. It flooded heavily on the earth but Noah was protected.

With Abraham, God gave the promise of blessings and a son, and fulfilled it.

We are believers and God’s children today, because God had promised the salvation of mankind and fulfilled it in the birth and sacrificial work of Jesus.

There are many more Bible instances.

This means God is highly dependable! We can count on His words and expect positive results from them.

God’s written word declares that we are justified, sanctified, redeemed, healed, blessed, prospered and so on, and we can count on them to be true.

The same goes for the specific things God has promised us individually. We can look forward to them in joyful expectation, knowing he will surely bring his words and promises to pass.

DECLARE: I agree that God is highly dependable. I’m confident in His words and promises to me and know that they will be fulfilled. Amen

HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD 2

HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD: We have been able to see that God speaks by nudges or promptings. These promptings can be as simple as God just impressing his desires in our hearts.

When that happens, we realize that we suddenly become uninterested in certain things, people and places and pick up interest in new ones, especially as we pray concerning them.

Another important way God speaks, is by the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit in our spirit. We would hear clear gentle words deep in our hearts (or spirits) just as we can hear when someone speaks physically. That’s the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit.

The voice of the Holy Spirit might also be loud and authoritative in our hearts (or spirit).

Also, we must understand that our spirit has been joined to God’s Spirit when we got born again.

This makes God’s thought and our thought become the same. In some cases, the things we think about doing or the people we consider meeting are God’s thoughts or will creating an awareness in us.

God also speaks through tongues and interpretation.

Though this may seem a bit technical to many, it’s a sure way God actively guides today but it’s important we clarify that believers are not to interpret the tongues they use in personal prayer.

The tongues to be interpreted are those that are divine messages to us.

How would you know the difference?

It’s very easy!

When you practice speaking in tongues a lot, it will be easier for you to recognize a change, deviation or difference from your usual prayer tongues. This difference will bring so much inward conviction in your spirit that’s this is not the usual way I pray in tongues. People around you may not know when this is happening.

Following this unusual tongues will come words impressed in your spirit. You are to look inward and speak those words out by faith. Sometimes, the more you speak them, the more they keep coming and are the interpretation of the tongues spoken.

As we practice obedience to these ways God guides us, we get better at them.

DECLARE: I experience a reality of accurate divine guidance in my life. My thoughts, plans and actions are in line with God’s thoughts for me on every matter. I do not walk outside God’s plans and purposes, nor will I be ignorant of them.
