*NIGHT PRAYER TO THE DIVINE SPIRIT OF GOD (PENTECOST)*

Come, O Holy Spirit of God,
Divine Fire of love and eternal light,
on this holy night I bow before Your presence.

On this solemnity of Pentecost,
You who descended upon the apostles in power and flame,
descend also into my heart, my mind, and my soul.

Cleanse me, O Holy Spirit, from every sin,
from every fear, doubt, and distraction that troubles my spirit.
Fill the emptiness within me with Your holy peace,
and renew in me a steadfast heart that belongs wholly to God.

Spirit of wisdom, guide my thoughts tonight.
Spirit of understanding, enlighten my darkness.
Spirit of counsel, direct my steps.
Spirit of fortitude, strengthen my weakness.
Spirit of knowledge, teach me the truth.
Spirit of piety, draw me closer to the Father.
Spirit of holy fear of the Lord, keep me in reverence and humility.

Holy Spirit, overshadow my life as You overshadowed Mary,
and make my heart a dwelling place of God’s presence.
Let no evil, fear, or confusion disturb my rest tonight.

As I sleep, renew my spirit.
As I rest, restore my strength.
And when I rise, let me walk in the power of Your grace.

Bless all who are praying this night,
especially those seeking peace, healing, and direction.
Let Pentecost fire burn away every darkness in our lives.

I surrender this night into Your hands, O Divine Spirit.
Remain with me always___Amen.

We know Christ by the Spirit

You will often hear people say, "Oh, Jesus was a great teacher. Really, he and Lincoln and Plato have done a great deal for the world. If we wanted to solve all of our economic and social problems, all we would have to do is read the beatitudes of Jesus,"
People who talk that way do not understand that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world. For them, Jesus is just another man. Why do they not know him? Because they do not have the Spirit. And why do they not have the Spirit? Because they have not obeyed the law of God, however little or however much they knew of it. Our Lord said, If you love me, keep my commandments." Then the Holy Spirit will manifest himself to us. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is that of an artist. He draws a picture of our Lord on the canvas. He makes him real to us so that we understand. Just as the artist stays outside of the canvas, so the Holy Spirit is staying outside of the Christ whom he reveals to us.
To be filled with the Spirit is to be filled with Christ, so when we put on the mind of Christ, we put on the will of Christ. There's nothing in the gospel that gives us an answer to many of the problems of life and the difficulties of the day. If we were just simply to imitate the life of our blessed Lord as is found in the gospel, we would all have to become carpenters. How, then, do we know what to do? The Spirit of Christ shows us what we are to do in each and every circumstance: the proper words to say, the right action, the kind of charity to perform. Now this Spirit of Christ that is in our soul manifests Christ to us. St Paul uses the example of the human mind to make clear the Holy Spirit. He asks, "How do we know the thoughts of another person?" Well, it's because we have a soul and a spirit just as he has. Engineers understand engineers, and brokers understand brokers, and students at college understand students at the same college. Why? Because they all have the same spiri

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
and in our souls take up Thy rest;
come with Thy grace and heavenly aid
to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

O comforter, to Thee we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
and sweet anointing from above.

Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known;
Thou, finger of God's hand we own;
Thou, promise of the Father, Thou
Who dost the tongue with power imbue.

Kindle our sense from above,
and make our hearts overflow with love;
with patience firm and virtue high
the weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
and grant us Thy peace instead;
so shall we not, with Thee for guide,
turn from the path of life aside.

Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow
the Father and the Son to know;
and Thee, through endless times confessed,
of both the eternal Spirit blest.

Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
with Thou, O Holy Comforter,
henceforth by all in earth and heaven.
Amen.

THE SAINT WHO SAW DEMONS IN THE NIGHT😨.

Saint Philip Neri was famous for his joyful spirit😊

People in Rome loved him because he always smiled, joked with children, and encouraged sinners to return to God.

But hidden behind that joyful face was a terrifying spiritual battle.

Philip often spent nights praying alone inside ancient Roman catacombs — underground burial tunnels filled with darkness, silence, and tombs 🌑⛪

Most people feared these places.

Many believed evil spirits wandered there after sunset.

Yet Philip entered them willingly because he wanted deeper prayer and closeness to God.

Ancient traditions say strange things began happening during those lonely nights.

While praying, Philip reportedly heard terrifying noises echo through the darkness 👀🔥

Some accounts say demonic voices mocked him.

Others claim invisible forces violently shook his room and bed while he prayed.

At times, loud crashing sounds woke nearby people in the middle of the night 😨

One tradition even says frightening shadow-like figures appeared before him trying to distract him from prayer.

But Philip refused to panic.

Instead of fleeing, he calmly prayed harder and called upon the name of Jesus ✝️🙏

Witnesses later said the saint would sometimes laugh after these attacks because he believed demons hated humility and joy.

The more darkness tried to frighten him… the more peaceful he became.

Over time, many people began visiting Philip because they believed holiness surrounded him.

Countless sinners returned to faith after speaking with the joyful priest.

Christians later remembered Saint Philip Neri as a man who defeated fear, darkness, and demonic terror not with violence… but with prayer, joy, and complete trust in God ✨🔥

The Spirit makes Christ real

When our Lord was manifested to us, he spoke to us from without, but the Holy Spirit will speak to us from within. Does that mean that the Holy Spirit is to be a substitute for Christ? No. The Holy Spirit will make Christ more real than ever. Hear the words of our Lord, "And that day you shall know that I am in the Father and you in me, and I in you." How would he be in us? By revealing his hidden excellence in our hearts. That is why St Paul said that if we have known Christ according to the flesh, we know him so no longer. Because now we know him in another way. We know him through the Holy Spirit. Therefore the Holy Spirit, as our Lord said, will bear witness to him, not to himself.

*NOVENA TO THE HOLY SPIRIT*

*Day Nine: Saturday, 23rd May, Vigil of Pentecost*

Thou, on those who evermore Thee confess and Thee Adore, in Thy sevenfold gift, Descend; Give Them Comfort when they die; Give them Life with Thee on high; Give them joys which never end. Amen.

*The Fruits of the Holy Spirit*

The gifts of the Holy Spirit perfect the supernatural virtues by enabling us to practice them with greater docility to divine inspiration. As we grow in the knowledge and love of God under the direction of the Holy Spirit, our service becomes more sincere and generous, the practice of virtue more perfect. Such acts of virtue leave the heart filled with joy and consolation and are known as Fruits of the Holy Spirit. These Fruits in turn render the practice of virtue more attractive and become a powerful incentive for still greater efforts in the service of God, to serve Whom is to reign.

*Prayer*

Come, O Divine Spirit, fill my heart with Thy heavenly fruits, Thy charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, faith, mildness, and temperance, that I may never weary in the service of God, but by continued faithful submission to Thy inspiration may merit to be united eternally with Thee in the love of the Father and the Son. Amen.

*Our Father and Hail Mary once*
*Glory be to the Father SEVEN TIMES*

*ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT*
On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your love. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You

*OUR NIGHT PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD FOR PROTECTION AGAINST EVERY FORM OF KILLING AND KIDNAPPING IN OUR COUNTRY...*

O Holy Spirit of God,
Divine Comforter, Protector of the weak, and Light of all nations,
we come before You tonight with humble hearts,
seeking Your mercy, peace, and divine protection upon our country, Nigeria.

Holy Spirit, stretch forth Your mighty hand against every spirit of violence, bloodshed, kidnapping, terrorism, fear, and destruction.
Let every evil gathering of bandits, kidnappers, murderers, and wicked attackers be scattered by the power of God.

As it is written:

> “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”
— Isaiah 54:17

Spirit of the Living God, descend upon our towns, villages, roads, forests, homes, churches, and families.
Let Your holy fire surround every innocent soul traveling at night and by day.
Protect all the good and innocent soldiers, security officers, and all those working for peace and justice in this our country.

O Holy Spirit, expose every hidden camp of these evil men, the Fulanis, and every other kidnapper in this country, Nigeria.
Confuse their plans and destroy every network of wickedness operating in our land.
Let fear and repentance enter the hearts of those who shed innocent blood in this our country, Nigeria.

We pray especially for all families living in fear and sorrow, especially those being affected by the evil attack of these bandits and kidnappers.
Wipe away the tears of widows, comfort orphans, heal the wounded, and bring home safely those who have been kidnapped.

Come, Holy Spirit, and renew the face of our nation.
Replace hatred with love, violence with peace, and despair with hope.

We invoke the protection of the holy angels of God, especially Saint Michael the Archangel,
to defend us in battle and guard our nation from every attack of evil forces.

Let the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ cover every family tonight.
May every home sleep in peace and rise in safety.

Holy Spirit, Divine De

Feast 🌟
ST. RITA OF CASCIA

Rita was born at Spoleto, Italy in 1381. At an early age, she begged her parents to allow her to enter a convent. Instead they arranged a marriage for her. Rita became a good wife and mother, but her husband, Paolo Mancini, was known to be a rich, quick-tempered, immoral man, who had many enemies in the region of Cascia. In anger he often mistreated her.

Rita tried to perform her duties faithfully and to pray and receive the sacraments frequently. After nearly twenty years of marriage, her husband was stabbed by an enemy but before he died, he repented because Rita prayed for him.

Rita's sons wished to revenge their father's murder. Rita, fearing that her sons would lose their souls, tried to persuade them from retaliating, but to no avail. Accordingly, she petitioned God to take her sons rather than submit them to possible mortal sin and murder.

Her twin sons died a year later, hence after the deaths of her husband and sons, Rita desired to enter the monastery of Saint Mary Magdalene in Cascia but was turned away. She implored her three patron saints (John the Baptist, Augustine of Hippo, and Nicholas of Tolentino) to assist her & miraculously she was transported into the monastery via levitation at night by these three saints even thou the doors of the monastery were locked.

Rita had a great devotion to the Passion of Christ. "Please let me suffer like you, Divine Saviour," she said one day, and suddenly one of the thorns from the crucifix struck her on the forehead. It left a deep wound which did not heal and which caused her much suffering. For the next fifteen years she bore this external sign of stigmatization and union with our Lord.

During the last four years of her life Rita was confined to bed and was able to eat so little that she was practically sustained on the Eucharist alone. Rita died on 22 May, 1457 A.D.

Her body, which has remained incorrupt over the centuries, is venerated today in the shrine o

Our Comforter

As the telescope reveals not itself, but the stars beyond, so the Holy Spirit reveals not himself, but Christ. Just think how we are able in this age of ours to communicate with distant parts of the earth thanks to electric or light waves. Why, therefore, cannot our Lord, who dwells in heaven, be within whispering distance of us, through his Holy Spirit? Our Lord said to his apostles, "It is only for a short time that I am with you, my children. I will not leave you orphans." Then he promised his Spirit that would abide with them forever. That Spirit he sent was to be another Comforter. He was their Comforter on earth. And now his Spirit would be their comfort, their Paraclete, their Advocate. Listen to the words of our Lord, "I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter, one who will dwell with you forever."
