Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion Diocese On the Niger is the Mother Diocese of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). It is among the Dioceses under Niger Province.

The Diocese was created in 1864 as the Niger Territories Diocese under the episcopacy of Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther.

Life is fleeting, and one day we will all answer to the call of death and the promise of resurrection. What truly matters is not how long we live, but the impact we leave behind.

For the late Chief Sir Oselloka Offoh, Iyaa-Aselle Oraifte, his 63 years on earth were marked by deep and lasting impact. In the Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion, he served with uncommon commitment and dedication as Diocesan Communicator and a pillar of the society. He gave his time, talent, and loyalty without reserve.

Preaching at the funeral service held at St. Jude's Anglican Church, Oraifte, the Bishop of the Diocese on the Niger, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, extolled the life of this media titan. He described Sir Oselloka as a man well-grounded in media and journalism, a man of integrity and without guile. "He has left a great vacuum that will be difficult to fill," the Bishop said.

Drawing from John 1:47, His Lordship called on Christians to live lives free of deceit; lives that edify the Body of Christ in every way. "Like Sir Oselloka, let your life be a shining light," he urged. The greatest testimony of Sir Oselloka, the Bishop added, is that he lived a life so exemplary it will be hard to replace. He was the very embodiment of loyalty and strong character.

To the bereaved family, the Bishop prayed for God's comfort and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and encouraged them to walk in the footsteps of their husband and father.

The Bishop on the Niger, His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo (JP, FITH-PUA), Earlier today made a pastoral visit to Church Of Transfiguration Of Our Lord Akpaka GRA II (Divine Grace Archdeaconry) for Confirmation and Admission Service.

In his homily, the Diocesan reminded those to be confirmed and admitted into various organizations of the Church that they should remain in the new life Christ has given them. He urged them to avoid sin and all things that easily lead to unrighteousness.

We are called to reject every form of the old life, for Christ Jesus has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light to live victoriously for Him. Citing Colossians 3:3-5, he said we must say "No" to ungodliness and every appearance of evil. (Romans 6:1-2)

The Bishop charged the candidates for Confirmation and Admission, and the entire congregation, to live for Christ in holiness and righteousness. He reminded them that sin should not reign in their mortal bodies, but that their lives should be a testament to God’s glory.

In his closing prayer, the Diocesan pronounced Episcopal blessings upon the people. He prayed that God Almighty would grant them the grace to live for Christ and to do His will, and that the blessings of God would rest upon them and their endeavors through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, ministered today at the Leadership Summit 2026 Thanksgiving Service held at Christ Church Cathedral, ACK Christ Church Kakamega, under the ACK Diocese of Maseno North.

Drawing from Psalm 124 and Matthew 16, Bishop Owen encouraged Christians and leaders gathered to remain strong and steadfast in the Lord, reminding them that the Church of Christ shall not be overcome, for the gates of hell cannot prevail against her.

He charged believers to hold fast to the truth that the Church is not a building but the living body of God's people; body, mind and soul, rooted firmly in Christ, urging that their strength and confidence must remain anchored in the Lord through every trial.

With a heart full of thanksgiving, I return glory to God for the gift of another year, and I extend my deepest appreciation to my dear husband, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, and every son and daughter of the Diocese on the Niger, and indeed all friends and well-wishers far and near, who took time to celebrate me on my birthday, through calls, messages, prayers, and kind words that warmed my spirit beyond measure. Your love has been a fresh reminder that service rendered in the vineyard of the Lord is never in vain, and I count myself truly blessed to labour among such a devoted family of faith. Happy resounding birthday, our dear Mama Niger, Dr. (Mrs.) Elsie Nonyelum Nwokolo, FPSN!

She wears her titles lightly and her impact heavily ~ an Amazon whose labour needs no announcement, for the diocese already speaks of it in bricks, in programs, in the Women’s Ministry reshaped under her watch. They call her Mama Project, and rightly so; where others see a need, she sees a vehicle, and where she sends the vehicle, something lasting is built.

Faithful wife to our God-sent Diocesan, President of the Women’s Ministry, and student still of that old and worthy prism ~ to know something about everything, and everything about one’s field; she has made herself indispensable not by seeking the center, but by fitting, capably, into every corner the work requires.

On this her birth anniversary, we pray her strength be renewed, her hands steady, and her service to God and His kingdom carried forward with undiminished fire.
