Your UTME score of 161 is not the end of your journey, and it is definitely not the definition of your intelligence or your future. I understand that you feel disappointed because you had higher expectations, especially for a course like
Engineering, but one exam does not cancel your dreams.
Right now, what matters most is not what has happened, but what you decide to do next. Many successful people today did not start with the results they wanted, but they refused to give up. They adjusted their plans, worked harder, and still reached their goals.
Engineering is a competitive course, yes, but there are still pathways: change of institution, change of course within related fields, pre-degree, JUPEB, polytechnic routes, or even a reattempt if needed.
What you must not do is give up on yourself.
Take this moment as feedback, not failure. Ask yourself what went wrongโwas it preparation, exam pressure, or strategy?
Because when you identify it, you can correct it.
You are still capable.
You are still intelligent.
And your future is still open.
So donโt let one result make you forget your potential. Stand up again, plan better, and move forward with wisdom. This is not your endingโit is only a redirection.โ
