DAILY GRACE, SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2026.

A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20

VERSE OF THE DAY:
“OR DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS IN YOU, WHOM YOU HAVE FROM GOD, AND YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN? FOR YOU WERE BOUGHT AT A PRICE; THEREFORE, GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD’S.” - 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 (NKJV).

This devotion on A Healthy Lifestyle underscores the importance of taking care of our bodies and minds as a reflection of our commitment to God. This scripture reminds us that our bodies are not merely physical vessels; they are temples where the Holy Spirit dwells, and as such, we are called to honour God through our health choices.

In this passage, Paul emphasises the significance of recognising that our bodies belong to God and that we should treat them with respect and care. A healthy lifestyle encompasses proper nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, and spiritual health, all of which are interlinked.

Proverbs 3:7-8 states, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.” This highlights that living according to God’s wisdom not only impacts our spiritual health but also contributes to our physical vitality.

Ecclesiastes 3:13 reminds us that “it is the gift of God that everyone should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour.” Enjoying a balanced diet and finding joy in our meals can enhance our well-being. Mindful eating and appreciating the nourishment God provides help foster a positive relationship with food.

In 1 Timothy 4:8, we are reminded that “bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things.” While physical exercise is important for maintaining health, spiritual growth is crucial for overall well-being. Balancing both aspects leads to a fulfilled and healthy lifestyle.

Additionally, Philippians 4:8 encourages us to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. This focus on positivity not only transforms our mental outlook but also contributes to emotional and spiritual health, which are integral parts of a holistic, healthy lifestyle.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of our bodies and the Holy Spirit that dwells within us. Help us to make choices that honour You and promote our health, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

CHOICE

TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 30:19-20

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“I CALL HEAVEN AND EARTH AS WITNESSES TODAY AGAINST YOU, THAT I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH, BLESSING AND CURSING; THEREFORE CHOOSE LIFE, THAT BOTH YOU AND YOUR DESCENDANTS MAY LIVE, THAT YOU MAY LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD, OBEY HIS VOICE, AND CLING TO HIM, FOR HE IS YOUR LIFE AND THE LENGTH OF YOUR DAYS…” - DEUTERONOMY 30:19-20 (NKJV)._

The lesson on "Choice" emphasises the significance of the decisions we make and the profound impact they can have on our lives and the lives of those around us. This scripture highlights the importance of choosing wisely between life and death, blessings and curses, urging us to align our choices with God's will for our lives.

In this passage, Moses presents the Israelites with a clear choice, illustrating that our decisions hold consequences. Choosing life means committing to a relationship with God and adhering to His commandments, which ultimately brings blessings and fulfilment. Conversely, ignoring God's guidance can lead to difficult paths and negative outcomes.

Joshua 24:15 echoes this sentiment, urging us to “choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.” The emphasis on the present moment underscores that our choices must be intentional. It invites us to reflect on what truly matters in our lives and to prioritise our commitment to God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” This highlights the importance of seeking divine guidance in our decision-making process. In moments of uncertainty, we can turn to God, asking for wisdom to navigate our choices.

Furthermore, Galatians 6:7 reminds us that “whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Our choices are not made in a vacuum; they influence our future and impact those around us. Accordingly, we should strive to make choices that reflect God’s love, righteousness, and teachings.

In 1 Corinthians 10:31, we are instructed to “do all to the glory of God.” This serves as a valuable principle to guide our decisions, ensuring they honour and glorify God. Each choice we make should reflect our values and commitment to Christian principles, contributing positively to our spiritual growth.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant us wisdom and discernment as we make choices in our lives. Help us to choose paths that lead to life and blessings, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

SHRINKING FAITH

TEXT: MATTHEW 14:28-31

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“AND PETER ANSWERED HIM AND SAID, 'LORD, IF IT IS YOU, COMMAND ME TO COME TO YOU ON THE WATER.' SO HE SAID, 'COME.' AND WHEN PETER HAD COME DOWN OUT OF THE BOAT, HE WALKED ON THE WATER TO GO TO JESUS. BUT WHEN HE SAW THAT THE WIND WAS BOISTEROUS, HE WAS AFRAID; AND BEGINNING TO SINK, HE CRIED OUT, SAYING, 'LORD, SAVE ME!' AND IMMEDIATELY JESUS STRETCHED OUT HIS HAND AND CAUGHT HIM, AND SAID TO HIM, 'O YOU OF LITTLE FAITH, WHY DID YOU DOUBT?" - MATTHEW 14:28-31 (NKJV)._

This lesson focuses on the challenges we face when our trust in God wavers, especially in turbulent circumstances. This scripture illustrates how even a momentary distraction or fear can lead to a decrease in our faith, showcasing the importance of maintaining focus on Christ amidst life's storms.

In this passage, Peter demonstrates initial boldness by stepping out of the boat to walk towards Jesus. However, as he becomes aware of the wind and waves, his confidence falters, and he begins to sink. This moment serves as a powerful reminder that our faith can shrink when we allow fear and doubt to take hold.

Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages us to “lay aside every weight… looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” To combat shrinking faith, we must fix our eyes on Jesus, the ultimate source of strength. By immersing ourselves in prayer, scripture, and community, we reinforce our faith and stave off the doubts that may threaten to overwhelm us.

James 1:6-8 warns that a doubting person is “like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” Consistency in faith is vital; wavering leads to instability in our spiritual lives. Thus, we should seek to cultivate a firm foundation in God's promises and character to guard against the doubt that can diminish our trust.

In Mark 9:24, the father of the boy possessed by a mute spirit cries out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” This plea encapsulates the struggle between faith and doubt that many of us experience. It serves as an invitation to bring our fears and uncertainties to God, asking for His help to strengthen our belief in Him.

Furthermore, Romans 10:17 states that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Regular engagement with the word of God fosters a resilient faith, helping us to remember His past provisions and promises, thus building our confidence in His ability to handle our current situations.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to keep our focus on You and strengthen our faith even when challenges arise, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

ENTERTAINING ANGELS

TEXT: HEBREWS 13:1-2

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“LET BROTHERLY LOVE CONTINUE. DO NOT FORGET TO ENTERTAIN STRANGERS, FOR BY SO DOING SOME HAVE UNWITTINGLY ENTERTAINED ANGELS” - HEBREWS 13:1-2 (NKJV)._

This lesson emphasises the importance of hospitality, kindness, and awareness in our interactions with others. This scripture invites believers to recognise that acts of love and generosity towards strangers may have deeper spiritual significance.

Hebrews 13:1-2 encourages us to maintain a spirit of brotherly love and openness, reminding us that our treatment of others can reflect our devotion to God. By being hospitable and caring towards strangers, we may unknowingly encounter angels—messengers of God—sent to guide or bless us.

In Genesis 18:1-3, we see an example of this principle when Abraham welcomes three visitors into his home. Unknown to him, these visitors were angels sent by God to announce the birth of Isaac and to deliver judgment upon S***m. Abraham’s act of hospitality resulted in a profound blessing and revelation from God, demonstrating the significance of how we treat those we do not know.

Matthew 25:35-40 further elucidates this concept by revealing that acts of kindness done to others, particularly the least among us, are seen as acts done to Christ Himself. “For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in.” This passage highlights the importance of seeing Christ in every person and embracing opportunities to serve one another.

James 2:15-17 warns against neglecting those in need, pointing out that faith without works is dead. Our faith should compel us to action, demonstrating love through tangible acts of service and hospitality. This can lead to unexpected blessings and connections, perhaps even encounters with divine beings.

Furthermore, 1 Peter 4:9 encourages believers to be hospitable without grumbling. Authentic hospitality reflects a generous spirit and opens our hearts to the potential for divine encounters. It reminds us that our homes and lives can be places of refuge and blessing, akin to the early Christian community.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to be mindful of those around us and inspire us to practice hospitality and kindness, knowing that in serving others, we may be serving You in Jesus' Name, Amen.
