MID-WEEK COMMUNION SERVICE

Wednesday, 19th August 2026.

Homily by Rev. Canon Dr. Chidi Okonkwo.

Topic: Take it to God in prayer

Text: Luke 9:22, 28.

There are issues of life that only prayer can get one out of it, there are battles of life only prayer can help one out, we must not allow the things of the flesh to overcome our spiritual life.

The efficacy in prayer is our weapon as Christians, there are stubborn situations that needs our prayer(Acts 12:5). There are Angels God has assigned for us that they can only be deployed through the command of prayers.

We must not be lukewarmness as Christian’s, for we are seen as soliders of Christ, some battles we face is pushing us always just because of our greatness ahead, whatever we must win in the physical is victory we have won in the spiritual.

The battles of life can never give up except you ‘
are a person of prayer, anytime you don’t pray you give the devil a permission to your life.
Today we charge you to extol the altar of your prayer, and keep your flame always burning for God.

Prayers: Heavenly Father thank your word this morning, We ask that you energize us and show us reason why we will commit all in prayers, and may all our ways be guided by your Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen.

Happy resounding birthday, our dear Mama Niger, Dr. (Mrs.) Elsie Nonyelum Nwokolo, FPSN!

She wears her titles lightly and her impact heavily ~ an Amazon whose labour needs no announcement, for the diocese already speaks of it in bricks, in programs, in the Women’s Ministry reshaped under her watch. They call her Mama Project, and rightly so; where others see a need, she sees a vehicle, and where she sends the vehicle, something lasting is built.

Faithful wife to our God-sent Diocesan, President of the Women’s Ministry, and student still of that old and worthy prism ~ to know something about everything, and everything about one’s field; she has made herself indispensable not by seeking the center, but by fitting, capably, into every corner the work requires.

On this her birth anniversary, we pray her strength be renewed, her hands steady, and her service to God and His kingdom carried forward with undiminished fire.

Long live Mama Niger!
Long live Calvary Mama!
Long live Diocese on the Niger!!

MID-WEEK COMMUNION SERVICE

Wednesday, 12th August 2026.

Homily by Rev. Canon Ugochukwu Azubuike Ogunoegbunam

Topic: Holding Fast to the Faith

Text: Heb. 10:35-39

We must understand the Word of God for ourselves. Walking with God brings a peace and joy that cannot be bought. For the peace Jesus promised us is the peace that the world cannot give.

We must yield ourselves to God’s infinite mercy, His word, knowing Him the more and trusting in His everlasting grace. We need to endure all things we face, knowing that our God who has called us is faithful. “Now the just shall live by faith...”(Heb. 10:38) Today, we are reminded that the faith of God is already available to us at all times.

Food for thought: those who shrink back are destroyed, but those who have faith in God their souls are preserve.

Prayers: Lord, we draw from You again the grace to live righteously. Give us grace to uphold our confidence, even amidst trials and painful experiences. We pray that our souls never shrink back, May Your Word strengthen us to live for You all the days of our lives, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

MID-WEEK COMMUNION SERVICE

Wednesday, 5th August 2026.

Homily by Rev. Canon Dr. Chidi Okonkwo

Topic: My House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer

Text: Matt. 21:12-13

Today we see Jesus Christ emphasizing the need for God’s house to be a place of prayer and worship. Our text reminds us that His house, and our bodies, are God’s temple, and that prayer is the heartbeat of God’s house.

When one does not value prayer, that person is said to be a spiritually dead Christian. As believers, we must embrace the culture of praying effectively at all times. We must be intentional in prayer, continually presenting to God those things we desire Him to do for us.

We have a High Priest, Christ Jesus, who always hears our petitions (Jer. 33:3). Yet the Lord wants us to draw closer to Him in good deeds, pure thoughts, and sincerity. There are battles and storms that only God can handle. The Lord wants us to bring every desire to Him, and we must learn to show forgiveness to those who offend us at all times.

Prayer: Father Lord, we ask You to help us to be a praying people who always wait on You in prayer, deal with every bitterness and unforgiveness in our lives, so that we may receive answers whenever we pray. Continue to help us daily as we live for You, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Happy birthday to our resourceful and dedicated Bishop’s Chaplain, The Rev. Canon Ugochukwu Azubuike Ogunoegbunam. His quiet, consistent labour in ministry reflects a minister's heart; faithful in every task, steady in every season.

We commend his dedication and pray the Lord who called him will continue to strengthen him for the work ahead, even as his household is nourished and kept in perfect peace. "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).

Remain blessed, Kpakpando!

BAPTISM SERVICE

Tuesday, 4th August 2026.

Homily by Ven. Dr. Barr. Emma Ezeugo.

From our text Acts 16:13-15, we see the importance of opening one’s heart to Jesus Christ, for this makes Baptism effective. Baptism is the rite by which one is initiated into the Body of Christ. Through this Baptism, we have received these infants and adults into the Body of Christ, and we have sealed them with the sign of the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, administered with water.

Therefore, we urge all parents and godparents to draw these children close to Christ daily, nurture them, and help them grow in Him. Never allow them to grow cold in faith. Train them up in the way of the Lord, so that when they are old, they will not depart from it. (Prov. 22:6)

We pray that the Lord will help us as parents and godparents to raise these children to the glory of God, as it pleases Him, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
