Follow Him Daily

Then he said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me'. (Luke 9:23, NIV)

Every day there are things that come against us, distractions that would try to pull us away from our faith in Christ. That’s why Jesus said that every day we have to make the choice to follow Him. Sometimes it’s easy to think, “Well, I go to church regularly,” or “I read my Bible on Sundays.” But really, the Christian life isn’t about how we live on the weekends, it’s how we live every single day. Are you spending time with Him, daily? Are you reaching out and putting others first, daily? Are you sowing seeds to help those in need, daily?

If you know you need to make some adjustments in your daily walk with Him, the good news is that you can start right now, today. Just simply turn to Him and make the commitment to follow Him moment by moment. Let Him direct your steps and follow that inner prompting of the Holy Spirit. Make the choice every day to follow Him and watch what He will do on your behalf!

Father, thank You for another day to serve and follow You. Search my heart and mind right now and remove anything that would keep me from You. I choose to set my mind on You as I daily follow Your steps in Jesus name. Amen.

Good morning.

Building a Firm Foundation

When you feel shaken, remember these unchanging truths about God.

Lamentations 3:21-23

Our faith isn’t built on feelings or wishful thinking—it rests on something far more solid. Let’s look at seven foundational aspects of Christianity:

God is. Faith must be built on the simple confession that the Lord is—He is real. He exists and is indeed God (Heb. 11:6).

God is love. He’s intimately concerned with your life and wants to engage in a relationship with you.

God is just. His justice is absolutely perfect—even when He lovingly disciplines us.

God is all-knowing. He knows your heart, your pain, and your questions. You cannot shock or surprise Him.

God is everywhere. You never have to wonder where He is. Wherever you are, He is right by your side.

God is all-powerful. There is nothing greater than God. Regardless of how enormous your challenges and heartaches seem to be, you can overcome them in His power.

God is faithful. No matter how far you stray, He never gives up on you. Whatever you have done, He will always welcome you home.

When doubts arise or circumstances shake you, return to these truths, all of which are solid and unchanging.

Good morning.

Advancing Through Adversity

Life's hardships are opportunities to draw closer to God and experience transformation.

Psalm 56:3-4

It is impossible to live in this world without facing moments of uncertainty, doubt, confusion, and fear. Scripture does not dismiss these concerns but instead helps us through them.

While God’s Word is truthful about the adversity we all face, it promises that we have a Guide who will never leave or forsake us (Heb. 13:5-6). That means the right response to trials is to tell God our fears and concerns—and then walk through them in faith, trusting He’ll work the situation out for both His glory and our ultimate good (Ps. 56:3-4).

God can use hardships as a tool to shape us into the people He wants us to be. You see, adversity is an opportunity for Him to purify our faith. So if you are going through a challenging time, pray for discernment and ask yourself, Is this something that God may be allowing in order to bring me closer to Him? Then believe He is working in your life to bring about something beneficial—and even beautiful—that you never could have expected.

God alone is sovereign in the universe, and He desires to be recognized as sovereign in your personal life as well. So trust Him even during hard circumstances, and remind yourself of His promise to work on your behalf (Isa. 64:4; Phil. 2:13).

Good morning.

The Church: What’s It All About?

Finding a church is easy, but choosing the right one requires biblical wisdom and the Holy Spirit's guidance.

Colossians 1:18-20

Churches are easy to find, but choosing which one to join is more involved. Such an important decision deserves some investigation, and it’s good to start with what God’s Word says.

Ekklēsia—the Greek word for “church”—refers to people called out by God’s grace for the purpose of assembling to worship and serve Christ. Scripture describes the church as a body of believers and Jesus as the head (Eph. 5:22-30; Col. 1:18).

God’s design involves worship, instruction, encouragement, and evangelism, as well as ministry to those in need—both within the fellowship and in the greater community. A healthy, vibrant congregation is possible when members rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance. The work of the church is to be done in His power, in humble and prayerful submission to the Lord.

When thinking about membership, consider these important questions: Does the church believe the Word of God? Is it discipling its people? Does the fellowship have missionary or evangelistic programs?

Joining a congregation is a significant matter, as a fellowship of believers is one tool God uses to mature and encourage His children. Listen for His Spirit’s direction as you prayerfully seek out a church home.

Good morning, have a blessed Sunday.

He Daily Loads Us with Benefits.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits... (Psalm 68:19, NKJV)

When you live a life that honors God, when you obey His Word and have an attitude of excellence and integrity, the scripture says that God’s blessings will chase you down and overtake you. You won’t be able to outrun the good things of God. He daily loads us with benefits!

People get confused sometimes and think they have to go chasing after the blessings. But really, when you chase after God each and every day, when you make Him your highest priority, the blessings will automatically follow.

Today, make pleasing the Lord first on your list. Let go of any weights or sins that you know are holding you back. Be willing to deal with any issues God brings to light. Don’t give in to compromise and temptation—all that does is keep you from God’s best. Instead, make the decision to daily put Him first and keep your heart pure before Him. Then get ready because His blessings will chase you down as He daily loads you with benefits!

Good morning.

A Mother’s Influence

Pray that God would help you see opportunities to invest in young hearts and point them toward Christ.

Proverbs 22:6

If someone asked us to name the greatest and most influential people, we’d probably think of presidents or leaders of industry because their decisions shape the world. But who shaped them? It’s likely their mothers played a key role in their success.

When a woman is in the process of changing diapers, wiping noses, and settling fights, raising children may not seem like important work. However, God has given mothers the responsibility of shaping those young lives and teaching the importance of knowing and loving Him. Timothy is an example of how women can impact the faith of the next generation (2 Tim. 1:5).

If you’re a mom, you have tremendous influence in the lives of your children. There’s no way to know how God will use them in the future. But whatever His plans may be, you can equip your sons and daughters by determining to spend time with them each day, reading and teaching them God’s Word.

Perhaps you don’t have children or your children are grown. You can still have an impact! Look for those to whom you can be a spiritual parent, teaching and loving them as Christ did. When they see you modeling godly character or trusting the Lord in the midst of trials, they will want to know and love God as you do. That’s a wonderful way to support the next generation.

Have a blessed day.

Ending Gossip in Our Life

Turn your criticism into intercession—pray for those you're tempted to speak against.

Ephesians 4:29-32

Spreading rumors about other people exposes little about the true nature of the person being whispered about, but it reveals quite a lot about the speaker’s character. So, what should we do when we’re tempted to gossip?

First, we should confess and ask the Lord to help us to turn away from opportunities to talk about others. One thing we can do is pray Psalm 141:3 daily: “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.” This will help us remain mindful of our words.

Next, we must be on guard against temptation. Believers have a responsibility to set themselves apart from gossip in order to keep their thoughts and words pleasing to God. Being in the presence of one who spreads stories can tempt us to participate. But in a situation where rumors are being shared, the best course of action is to speak out against what’s being done and refuse to participate.

Finally, instead of talking about someone, it’s wise to pray for him or her. Getting into this habit will help train the mind to replace sinful patterns with God-pleasing ones. The Bible teaches us to encourage and comfort each other, and prayer is a good way to obey that instruction (1 Thess. 5:11; 1 Thess. 5:14; 1 Thess. 5:17).

Good morning and Happy Sunday.

Choosing Love

The most powerful witness we can offer in any circumstance is to love others the way God loves us.

Matthew 5:38-48

There’s much about the kingdom of heaven that doesn’t make sense to our earthly way of thinking. For example, today’s passage says, “Whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also” (v. 39). Does anyone honestly want to do that? And while we know that God loves us, we’re also aware that there’s nothing we can do to earn or deserve His love. However, we are called to extend that love to others.

There’s a lot of talk about rights these days, but instead of focusing on ourselves, why not follow the Lord’s example (Phil. 2:6-8) and lay down our rights? Then we can join Him in a cause greater than our own interests. God is pleased when we show His love to those around us—including those who do us wrong. After all, Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you … For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?” (Matt. 5:44-46).

Before assuming that Jesus’ capacity for forgiveness and love is out of reach for human beings, remember that the Holy Spirit dwells in believers, helping us do what seems impossible. As a result, God’s love works through us. It’s a wonderful calling to show others the boundless care and compassion of the Lord.

Good morning.
