SEEK DAILY (NBC)

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 23

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS. 6: 14-18

TOPIC: DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

“What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God…” 2 Corinthians 6:16, NIV

A Christian stands in pure light, and the closer to God he or she gets, the purer the light becomes. He or she is transformed by the light and then becomes a source of that light. Non-Christians are spiritually blind and stand in darkness. A lost person cannot understand spiritual things apart from God. This is the basis for today’s clarion call.
The problem is that many Christians want to stand with one foot in the light and one foot in the darkness. This is what Elmer Towns described as “twilight Zone” and exactly what Apostle Paul warned the Corinthian church against. He made them to realize they have become God’s temple and they must live in a way that there will be a clear difference from those who live for the devil; they must dare to be different.
It’s difficult today to differentiate believers in Christ from people of the world, especially in the way we talk, dress and conduct our business. Are you living as light in the midst of this perverted generation? Can people see you and see the beauty of Christ around you? You can live in this world without getting contaminated with its corrupt practices. Be conscious that you are an ambassador. Receive grace to be a faithful representative of Christ.

Insight: Light and darkness don’t mix.

Prayer: O Lord I receive Your grace to radiate Christ light around me.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2020

RBT: MATTHEW 18-20

TOPIC: HOME LIFE OF THE FAITHFUL

TEXT: PSALM 128

BH 373: O HAPPY HOME WHERE THOU ART LOVED

Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. Psalm 128:4, NIV

Many people are more at home with prayers than the study of God's Word and applying the principles therein. When a husband and a wife are not in good terms, prayer life of the family is affected. The husband supposed to cover everyone in the home, while the wife should be a helper. When things fall apart at home and the centre cannot hold, home life is affected. The only way out is faithfulness amidst parties at home. Psalm 128 is one of the Psalms of Accession. It is a song being rehearsed by the Israelites as they go to the temple for worship. It contains the expectation of God from His people and the blessings that follow. His expectation from us is that we walk in His ways and fear Him (vv.1, 4). The blessings that follow this obedience to His command include: not labouring in vain (v. 2); being fruitful (v. 3); being full of blessings from the Lord (v. 5); and having the blessings extended to all generations (v. 6). It is important that Christians should fear the Lord and work in His ways. There are principles stated in the Scriptures that should serve as guide in family daily living. Home that is established upon the solid rock will receive the blessings attached to the principles. We are His people. We must behave according to His principles. The blessings therein will follow.

Wisdom: The wise man builds his house on the Rock.

Food for Thought: On what principle of life are you running your home?

Follow-up Action: Discuss some critical issues at your family altar today.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, as I walk in Your way, grace to work according to principles, grant it unto me such that Your blessings and prosperity will be mine in Jesus' name.
Lord, allow not the spirit of worldliness and hopelessness to make me worth

*DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD (NBC) 10 July, 2019*

*BH 323*: SO LET OUR LIPS AND LIVES EXPRESS

*RBT*: Ecclesiastes 1-4

*Topic*: LIVING WITH NEIGHBOURS

*Text*: Leviticus 19:11-18

*Golden Text:* ''Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the LORD”. Leviticus 19:16b, NIV

Tim and Tara were a homeless, jobless couple who had been living with relatives for months. So when they found a wallet containing 100 dollar notes, it was like they won jackpot. But on a second thought, they decided to give it back to the tourist who lost it.” Thought they were hard up, they would not want to hurt others. One of the specific instructions God gave to His people as to relating with neighbours is: “Do not steal.... Do not defraud your neighbour or rob him” (vv. 11, 13). A neighbour is not just the person who lives in the house next to your but any other individual who is nearby as in a spouse, friend, colleague, associate and the like.
The other rules are still relevant to us today. We are to do away with lies and deceit. Employers should not delay the payment of the wages of their employees whose families relied on the money to survive. God frowns at partiality and favouritism in judgement, regardless of the social status of the parties involved. Those who are weak or helpless should not be cheated or treated with disdain. Instead, they should be treated with respect and care. Tale-bearing does not only hurt the person concerning whom it is told; it also injures the teller as well as the hearer. And God want us to run away from it. Hatred, revenge and grudge do not make the situation good; instead, they add insult to the injury. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we can become good neighbours who also help others to please God.
Wisdom: Do to others what you want them do to you.

*Food for Thought*: Are you a good neighbour?

*Follow-up Action*: Be kind towards every one you come across.

*Prayer*: Lord, make a good neighbour.
