# HOW TO COMMUNICATE THE GOSPEL CONVINCINGLY PART 3

As believers, we have been entrusted with the responsibility of communicating the gospel and bringing people to Christ. However, communicating the message is not enough; we must communicate it in a convincing way that helps people understand and respond to the truth.

We must also remember that evangelism is not merely about increasing numbers. We must show genuine care for the people God brings our way.

Follow-Up Is Crucial

After evangelism and leading people to Christ, follow-up is very important. Our responsibility does not end when someone responds to the gospel or accepts an invitation to church.

When someone responds to your invitation:

* Welcome them warmly.
* Sit with them and make them feel at home.
* Introduce them to other people.
* Get their contact details.
* Pray for them and pray with them.
* Help them connect with others in the church.
* Encourage and guide them as they grow spiritually.

Follow-up is not just about preaching to people; it is about watching out for them and helping them grow.

Our work is not complete until the person becomes established and begins to reach others through evangelism and produce spiritual fruit in the lives of other people.

The Holy Spirit Helps Us

Acts 1:8 reminds us that the Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses. We are not left helpless in the assignment of evangelism; we have the help of the Holy Spirit and the ministry of angels.

Colossians 4:3–4 also teaches us that there is a right way to communicate the gospel. There is a skill to communicating God's Word effectively. We need to develop the ability to speak the right words at the right time while depending on the Holy Spirit for direction.

Characteristics of a Convincing Preacher

1. Clarity

Communicate the message in simple and understandable terms. Avoid unnecessary or complicated language that may make the gospel difficult to understand.

2. Compassion

People should be able to recognise that you genuinely care about them. Your concern for their lives and souls must be evident in the way you communicate with them.

3. Confidence

We must be bold and confident in communicating the gospel. When you stand to share the gospel, that is your pulpit. Own the opportunity and communicate God's Word with boldness.

Confidence should be reflected in:

* Your appearance
* Your speech
* Your carriage and manner

4. Humility

Humility is an essential character trait of a convincing preacher. We must communicate the truth without arrogance, remembering that we are servants of the message we preach.

5. Listening

Ask questions and listen carefully. Evangelism is not about dominating the conversation. Listening helps us understand people's concerns, experiences, and perspectives so that we can communicate the gospel meaningfully.

6. Knowledge

You must study the Scriptures. You cannot communicate the gospel confidently when you are not well-informed about the Word of God. The more we study, the better equipped we become to communicate the truth accurately.

7. Patience

Not everyone will respond to the gospel immediately. Some people may not accept an invitation the first time you extend it. We must therefore learn to be patient and persistent, continuing to show love while trusting the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts.

How to Communicate the Gospel Effectively and Convincingly

Winning People to Christ and Bringing Them into the Church

As believers, we have been given the responsibility to preach the gospel and make disciples (Matthew 28:18–20; Mark 16:15). God also desires His church to grow, and He has equipped us with everything we need to fulfill this responsibility.

However, having the message is not enough. We must also learn to communicate the gospel effectively and convincingly. So, how do we talk to people about Jesus?

1. Start with people, not the sermon.
Like Jesus did with the Samaritan woman in John 4:7, start with a conversation. Show genuine interest in people and build rapport before introducing the gospel. Build a bridge before you preach across it.

2. Ask good questions.
Questions create room for people to talk and help us understand where they are coming from. Good conversations can create opportunities to communicate the gospel meaningfully.

3. Do not argue people into the kingdom.
Our responsibility is to communicate the truth. We should not try to force people into believing. The Holy Spirit is the One who brings conviction.

4. Use your story.
Our personal experiences are powerful evangelism tools. Paul often shared his testimony, and throughout Scripture, we see people recounting what God had done in their lives. Your story can help someone see the reality of the gospel.

As we pray for the hearts of men, we must also be intentional about how we communicate the gospel. We have been given the responsibility, equipped for the assignment, and called to communicate the truth in a way that helps people encounter Christ.

The Efficacy of Prayer

James 5:16b

A number of times, we tend to think that when we have prayed about something, we should see the result immediately. However, there is being insistent and consistent in prayer.

Faith is being insistent on God's word in the place of prayer. The believer must learn to pray insistently. We must assume the position of praying until something happens.

Adura olododo ma n se ise Agbara. The efficacy of prayer is to whom you are communicating. The prayer of the believer can restore, uproot, make new, destroy, create, and dematerialize things. It's not an ordinary time.

So, as a believer who knows this, you must learn to insist in the place of prayer. The prayer of the believer is a force that you cannot sideline.

Our default response on this earth ought to be prayer, praying on the go, and having specific times of prayer. Let prayer always be on your lips. It must become our culture, our life.

Elijah demonstrated prayer to us. He prayed 'until' the result manifested, knowing that the One to whom he prays hears him.

At times, we have to keep praying so that certain limitations can be removed. When you need to pray about a certain thing, look for a place in the written Word that approves it. For example, healing. Insist that the written Word aligns with your reality.

You don't always have to feel like praying; you just have to pray and ensure to keep praying. Don't be too logical and calculative with your life. Pray, pray over your life, ministry, disciples, family, decisions, pray over everything!

SERVICE || 2ND AUGUST, 2026

The man in Christ must maintain his fervency in the spirit.
There is a tendency to grow cold, but you must keep yourself aflame. Everything in this world is wired and designed to choke our spirituality. Of course God would want us to prosper, but we must ensure that these things do not push us out of God's plan.

Leviticus 6:12-14
We must ensure that we keep the fire burning. It is our responsibility to keep the fire from going out. And these are practical. We engage in spiritual activities to ensure the fire is burning.

To maintain a fervent life, here are some things to note:

1. Prayer
As believers, if your prayer life is based on "give me, give me," then you are not growing. There is that prayer of intimacy; there is that prayer of fellowship. We must stay fresh in God's agenda; do that, and we will not become stale in it.

Acts 4:23, heartfelt prayer, and body prayer—that is how we maintain our fervency in the spirit. When you don't maintain fervency in the spirit, that is when the Devil can work. Prayer is a way we can be fervent in the spirit, and we must be consistent with it. The one who will make a mark on this earth in his generation must be full of prayer, or else he will become the mark. We must be full of prayer. This life is not all about physical things. If you joke with God, with the things of God, it's a matter of time; it will show. Stay fresh in the spirit, stay aglow in the spirit.

2. The word of God.
The word of God must be a priority. Listen to the word of God, and learn the word of God; it will help you stay fresh in the spirit.

3. The fellowship with the Saints.
One such reason God instituted the local church is to fellowship with the Saints. And that way you stay fresh and fervent in the spirit. You cannot neglect the company of the Saints. You must be mindful of your association; you must stay close with the fellow saints. What you keep around you will soon get inside of you; it's a matter of time. You must stay close to people that will help your fire keep burning.

Devoting yourself to prayer and spiritual things is never a waste of time.
