Gaudete Sunday — Rejoice!
Today, the Church invites us to rejoice as we celebrate Gaudete Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent. In the midst of our waiting, the liturgy reminds us today that our hope is not empty, the Lord is near.
Reflecting on today’s homily given by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Samson Babatunde Ojo, we are called to a joy that is deeper than momentary happiness: a joy rooted in faith, gratitude, and trust in God’s promises. Like John the Baptist, we are reminded to prepare our hearts not with fear, but with joyful repentance, good works, and love for one another.
As symbolized by the rose vestments, Gaudete Sunday reassures us that even in times of challenge, Christian joy remains steadfast because Christ is coming.
May this Sunday renew our strength, rekindle our hope, and inspire us to live as witnesses of joyful expectation.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice! (Cf Phil.4:4-5)🙏
