BE ROMANTIC!
(Lessons from the Book of Ruth)
Part 1
One of the remarkable matriarchs of the Faith in the true living God said to her daughter in law something remarkable: "May the LORD grant that you may find a place of REST, each one in the house of her husband"- Ruth 1:9.
The Hebrew word for Rest in this verse means:
1. A place of rest.
2. A place of consolation.
3. A place of comfort.
Now the proper way of understanding this would be the CONTEXT of the word find REST.
RUTH had experienced waves of bereavement.
a. Her husband died-FUTURE SUPPORT LOST.
b. Her Husband's brother also died- HER SOCIAL SUPPORT LOST.
C. Her father in law also died-FAMILY SUPPORT LOST.
With all these hanging on her- SHE NEEDED TO FIND
1. A place of rest.
2. A place of consolation.
3. A place of comfort.
THE HUSBAND CAN'T IN TONGUES OVER THIS- For the husband to be to be fully ROMANTIC, he must consider fulfilling these needs. The home Ruth's husband must make with her must be a place of REST, CONSOLATION, & COMFORT.
OVER TO YOU DEAR CHRISTIAN BROTHER AND SISTER:
Do you understand the background of your wife or husband? Are you creating a HOME for him or her with the description of the Needs?
EXAMPLES:
1a. Brother Paul grew up in a home where the fathers' only concern is to pay for the school fees. The father does not have the time to talk with any of the Children, and if he has a talk it is a military style conversation full of RULES AND REGULATIONS to abide with so as to continue to gain the favour of then head of the house.
1b. Brother Paul needs a caregiver who must always show CONCERN for him. Brother has built a "persona" that says; "I can survive without anyone looking over my shoulders" but the wife must dedicate her life to helping him know that his wife cares for him. Your husband needs help even if he doesn't show it.
2a. SISTER RACHAEL grew up in a polygamous home. She had to struggle for her voice to be heard. She did not have anybody dotting on her, cause everyone had to fight to get whatever they desire for life. She had hoped for a future where she will have a man give her all the attention she needs. Upon her conversion to faith in Jesus Christ, that longing grew stronger.
2b. Sister Rachael needs a man who plans his schedule top always call her, spend time listening to her and counseling her. No spiritual exercise or jamboree will quench that thirst. Sister Rachael needs a man who will always make her the center of his life.
CHALLENGE
Do you know three things that your spouse lacks?
Have you made your home the place for him or her to find rest. Be ROMANTIC make your home a place of REST, CONSOLATION & COMFORT.
To be ROMANTIC requires a simple scheduling of your day to make your spouse have an experience of REST and SECURITY.
Christ' death, burial and resurrection address the singular problem of humanity which is the problem of SIN.
All who repent and call upon Jesus Christ will also gain life in Jesus Christ.
SO BE ROMANTIC- make a Home where your spouse can find REST.
Be ROMANTIC by finding the provisions that satisfy the needs of your spouse.
Dear HUSBAND. you can begin by asking if your wife's father has ever taking her out for Ice cream? If her answer is no- you have your work cut out for you.
DEAR WIFE, you can begin and ask if your husband while growing up has ever had anybody welcome him home with an announcement of praise? If his answer is no- you should learn how to welcome him home from work with loud praises.
Shalom
