“THE ALTAR THAT BLEEDING”
It speaks of a spiritual situation where the altar — the place of sacrifice, prayer, and covenant — is no longer pure or peaceful, but wounded and bleeding because of sin, disunity, and neglect in the house of God.
💠 TOPIC: The Altar That’s Bleeding
Text: Joel 1:13-14; Malachi 2:13; Hebrews 13:10
I. INTRODUCTION
An altar is a sacred place of meeting between God and man — a place of sacrifice, covenant, and prayer.
When an altar “bleeds,” it signifies that something has gone wrong in the spiritual atmosphere.
Instead of producing life, power, and answered prayers, the altar begins to cry out in pain because of sin, broken covenants, or unholy practices.
II. WHAT DOES A BLEEDING ALTAR MEAN?
1. A wounded spiritual foundation.
The presence of God departs, and sacrifices lose their power. (1 Samuel 4:21)
2. A corrupted altar.
Strange fire, false prophecy, and impurity have polluted the sacred place. (Leviticus 10:1–2)
3. A neglected altar.
When prayer, worship, and holiness are no longer maintained. (1 Kings 18:30)
4. A divided altar.
When disunity, jealousy, and strife dwell among ministers. (Matthew 12:25)
III. SIGNS THAT AN ALTAR IS BLEEDING
The church loses spiritual power and joy.
People are offended and wounded instead of being healed.
Ministers quarrel or complete instead of cooperating.
Worship becomes mechanical, without God’s presence.
Souls are not genuinely converted.
IV. WHAT CAUSES A BLEEDING ALTAR
1. Sin among the ministers or congregation. (Isaiah 59:2)
2. Unforgiveness and bitterness. (Matthew 6:14–15)
3. Pride and self-glorification at the altar. (James 4:6)
4. False teachings and manipulation. (2 Peter 2:1–3)
5. Neglect of prayer and holiness. (Matthew 26:40–41)
V. HOW TO HEAL THE BLEEDING ALTAR
1. Repentance and confession of sin.
Return to God in humility. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
2. Rebuild the altar of righteousness.
Elijah repaired the broken altar before fire fell (1 Kings 18:30–32).
3. Renew your covenant with God.
The blood of Jesus cleanses and restores holiness. (Hebrews 9:14)
4. Restore unity and love among ministers.
Healing comes when the body of Christ is united. (Psalm 133:1–3)
5. Re-dedicate the altar through prayer, fasting, and worship.
(Joel 2:15–17)
6. Guard the altar from defilement.
Only those who are pure in heart should minister before God. (Psalm 24:3–4)
VI. CONCLUSION
When the altar bleeds, the church suffers. But when the altar is healed, revival comes.
God is calling His ministers to repair the altar of prayer, holiness, and truth. A pure altar brings pure fire, but a bleeding altar brings confusion.
Let every leader and believer cry unto God today:
> “Lord, heal our altars — our hearts, our homes, and our ministries — and let Your glory return!”
