THE MIRROR

23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror. James 1:23

Almost everyone knows that a mirror has a reflecting surface. It shows you a replica, a twin image of yourself. In the natural, do you realize, that you have never seen your face? You have only seen an image of yourself in a mirror. If I were to ask you to describe or draw your face you would confidently do so based on what you have seen in a mirror. That is how much we trust a man made mirror.

The Word of God is a mirror that we should trust more, to tell us the truth about ourselves. As a mirror, the Word of God helps you see any filth in your life. It makes you see all the little lies, strife, envy and bitterness, which are in your life. It is only the mirror of the Word of God that will show you these. A man made mirror can show you if there is some acne or a pimple on your face, but it cannot show you parts of your character and habits that need to be changed. When you go out, probably dressed in an expensive designer suit, everyone may be deceived and think you are a gentleman or a lady, as the case may be. No one would know that you beat your wife like you would beat a criminal, or that you use caustic, abusive words on your husband. However, if you submit yourself to the Word of God, the Word will show you that you are very temperamental. The Word may even go on to reveal to you that the reason why you haven’t prospered is as a result of the way you have been treating your spouse. It’s a mirror that convicts you and changes you. Thank God it is also a mirror that will show you your beauty, as the change occurs.

What has the Word been showing you about yourself?

Confession: God’s Word is a mirror. It shows me things I need to remove from my life and the things I need to change.

LAMP AND LIGHT

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105

The Word of God is light. As light, it will give you illumination and revelation in different areas of your life. God’s Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. As a lamp to your feet, it gives you illumination to solve your immediate problems: the everyday problems that come your way. As light to your path, it gives you illumination to be able to see afar into the things that God has in store for you, no matter how far away they seem to be from your present day experience. You don’t have to be confused about your life, neither do you have to live all your days, not knowing what to do.

The Word will give you direction and show you the way to go. You don’t have to be in a dilemma about which way to go, when you come to certain crossroads in your life. Enough of Christians, who do not have a sense of direction, who stumble around in darkness making trial and error decisions!

The Word is there to give you direction. The Word brings progress, development and advancement. When you move in the right direction, you will make progress. John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” The second part of the verse literally translates, “the life was the development of men.” As light, the Word will make you; it will advance you. I am a living testimony of this. With a background of deep poverty and rigid religion, I would have been backward and lost in every kind of darkness imaginable. Thank God I found the Word of God. The Word of God is light.

Confession: God’s Word is lamp and light unto me. Through His Word I have illumination to solve everyday situations and I can see afar off into the great and glorious future He has for me. His Word is my development and advancement.

SPIRITUAL BREAKFAST

It is very important to have the word of God in your spirit.
Every situation requires a specific word so get as much of the word that you can so when the situation arises you can use the word required to solve it.
The word for reassurance might not be the same word for provision.
I learnt this when I was listened to a preaching from pastor Kelvin back then in chapel of victory COV in my 300 level.
Get the word because truth is you will need it. Lots of it. Because it will get dark sometimes and the word shall be the light you'll need to navigate you out or else you'll get lost. Good morning lovelies 🥰 and God bless you.
