( This are the names that sacrifice for the sake of the Gospel, that you are playing with, many are using it to make money raider than converting souls for the Lord ).

Peter, Andrew, James, and John
The first group of four apostles was Jesus’ inner group. They became His followers shortly after the beginning of His ministry. John 1:35-42 records the occasion on which they responded to Jesus by believing in Him that He was the promised Messiah. Jesus asked them to follow Him three times. The first time was after they believed. The second time occurred when they were fishing (Mark 1:14-20) and the third time occurred after another time of fishing (Luke 5:1-11). On that occasion they finally left everything and followed Jesus. At least three of them were invited to join Jesus when He raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead (Mark 5:37-43). Jesus also invited only Peter, James, and John to join Him on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-13). All four privately asked Jesus questions on the Mount of Olives (Mark 13:1-8). Peter, James, and John were asked to wait for Jesus while He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-37). Lastly, Peter and John were in discussion with Jesus prior to His departure to heaven (John 21:12-23). John was the disciple Jesus asked to care for His mother (John 19:26-27). It should be noted that James and John had the same father, Zebedee (Matthew 10:2) and Peter and Andrew were brothers (Matthew 10:2). These men were part of Jesus’ inner group.

Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew
The second group of four apostles included two men who were into details. That is, they appear to have been analytical men: Thomas and Matthew. Thomas is known as Didymus (John 21:2) and “Doubting Thomas” because He questioned that Jesus had actually returned to life (John 20:26-29). He wanted to place his finger into Jesus’ wounds to confirm that the wounds were real. Matthew was a tax collector for the Roman Empire. These two men were probably technically oriented. It appears from John 1:35-51 that Philip and Bartholomew believed in Jesus Christ as their Messiah on the same day that Peter, Andrew, James, and John did. Bartholomew was also known as Nathanael.

James, Thaddaeus, Simon, and Judas
We know very little about the third group of four apostles. We know almost nothing about James the son of Alphaeus from the Bible other than that he was also called James the Less (Mark 15:40) and that Matthew was his brother (Matthew 9:9; Mark 2:14). Thaddaeus was also called Lebbaeus and was known as Judas, the son of James. Simon the Cananaean was also called Simon the Zealot. The Zealots were anti-Rome and were politically motivated. One wonders how Simon felt about Matthew, who would have been considered a traitor by the Jews because he was a tax-collector for Rome. The Bible reveals nothing significant about this apostle. Judas Iscariot was the traitor (Matthew 10:4) who later hung himself (Matthew 27:3-6) and was therefore not listed in the book of Acts.

Apostles’ Deaths
The table below provides the best information that we have on the deaths of the apostles.

Simon
Peter
Tradition says that Peter died in A.D. 64-68 during Nero’s persecution of the Christians. He was crucified upside down on a cross.
Andrew
Andrew was crucified on a St. Andrews cross. The cross has the shape of an “X.” He was not nailed to the cross but was tied. It took several days before he died. It is said that he preached while hanging on the cross.
James
James, son of Zebedee
James died in A.D. 44 after he was beheaded by King Agrippa I who had launched a new persecution of Christians. He was the first martyr from among the twelve apostles.
John
Disciple whom Jesus loved (John 19:26; 20:2; 21:7, 20)
The beloved John was in exile on the Isle of Patmos before he was released and went to Ephesus where he died (A.D. 100-105).
Philip
Philip died in Hieropolis, Turkey by hanging (A.D. 80).
Bartholomew
Nathanael
It is believed that Bartholomew had ministered in Armenia and was flayed to death with knives in India.
Matthew
Matthew died a martyr’s death in Ethiopia
Thomas
Didymus
Ancient tradition says that Thomas died near Madras, India in A.D. 70. He was killed with a spear.
James, son of Alphaeus
James the Less (Mark 15:33-41)
Tradition says that James was crucified in Lower Egypt and then sawed in pieces (A.D. 62).
Thaddaeus
Thaddaeus
Thaddaeus was martyred in Persia. He died via arrows.
Simon the Cananaean
Simon the Zealot
Tradition says that Simon was crucified. It is believed that he ministered together with Thaddaeus.
Judas Iscariot
Judas hanged himself (Matthew 27:5) before Jesus Christ died by crucifixion (A.D. 33). His death is the only one that is recorded in the Bible.
Conclusion:
It is amazing that we know so little about the men who “turned the world upside down.” Jesus had prepared them and God used them in a powerful way to alert the world to His good news that Jesus Christ had come into the world to save sinners. These men gave their lives and died so that all could hear the good news that the forgiveness of sins is free to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ and accepts Him as Lord and

( DOMINION OVER SICKNESS )

statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the lord that healeth thee”.

A person’s portion answers to his/ her pressing. The fact that God says, “I am the Lord that healeth thee” is an indication that God is committed to our health and He is too faithful to fail.

It is a guarantee that failure in health is not an option because God cannot deny himself. God’s report in Isaiah 53:1-4 confirms that Jesus Christ bore our sickness and carried our pains even though we thought he was being punished, attacked by God, and afflicted for something he had done.

Every successful cure begins with an accurate diagnosis. Know what you are confronting before you can think of conquering.

It is said, prevention is better than cure because every cure is accompanied by side effects.

Most drugs do have side effects like nausea, blurred vision, mild headaches and, drowsiness among others. If we are God’s products as mentioned in Psalm 100:3, only He remains the most reliable authority in keeping us healthy because we are a complex creation.

He has the expertise in fixing us and keeping us in the best shape. The word of God is Jesus pacified; hence the word remains our consultant. It is the balm of Gilead.

The Adamic nature makes every man a victim of Satan. It is emphasised in Romans 3:23 which says, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. The way out is to embrace the gift of God, which is eternal life.
This is encouraged in Hebrews 2:3, which says, “how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first communicated through the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard him”.

Therefore, if you are not saved, you are not safe because you are dust and the devil lives in dust as seen in Genesis 3:14.

When the devil gives people benefits, it is not out of love. It is a preparatory exercise to devour an individual because we are dust. His tactic is similar to that of feeding a broiler. It is fed so that it meets the expectations of the consumer.

Our escape route is through the great salvation by accepting Jesus Christ, not through great doctors. When you hear and do the word, it will increase your life span. The weakness of the devil is demonstrated when you apply the word.

When you walk in, as stated in John 1:5 darkness cannot handle you. Keeping God’s word at work in your life keeps the devil away from your camp. You have the capacity to determine how far the devil can go in affecting you.

The root causes of sickness

1) Eating food

We are fearfully and wonderfully made therefore, what we eat has a great influence on our health status. Scientists who have analysed genetic data have revealed that our bodies are not the same.

Each body is made up of unique genetic material. 2 Kings 4:39-41 is a clear-cut illustration of how eating certain foods can lead to death. Elisha sent his attendant to prepare a large pot to make stew for the sons of the prophets who were hungry.

One went to gather wild herbs and brought them to be cooked. They were unaware of the kind of herbs they were about to cook. Upon eating they cried out, “man of God, there is death in the pot”. He then instructed them to add flour and there was no more harm in the pot. Know which food is good for your body in order to avoid being a victim of “death in the pot”.

2) Depression

Depression is generally a psychological disorder characterised by persistent low moods, loss of interest and enjoyment in ordinary things and experiences. A merry heart keeps the doctor away. Proverbs 18:14 says, “A person’s spirit sustains him through sickness — but who can bear a crushed spirit?”

The happier you are, the healthier you will be. Complaining is also a sure way to attract the destroyer. This is emphasised in 1 Corinthians 10:10, “And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel”. Any environment that is not conducive for God is very conducive for the devil. The devil cannot stand a joyful environment.

3) Bitterness

Bitterness is a feeling of deep anger or resentment. It drains eternal life. 1 John 3:13-16 implies that walking in love gives life. Let go of people in your heart. Forgive those who have offended you just as God forgives you. Pray for them. Wish them well. Perfect love keeps the tormentor away.

4) Slothfulness

Slothfulness or idleness causes one’s health to deteriorate just as idle hands cause the house to leak (Ecclesiastes 10:18). If you do not work, evil will settle on you just like dust settles on a car that has been parked for long.

When you take genuine rest, you feel refreshed. The sleep of a hard working man is sweet (Ecclesiastes 5:12). Our forefathers did not read the bible but they lived long.

It was because they worked physically. Jesus Christ himself was a worker (John 9:4).

Over working does cause illness. Every engine has its capacity; hence avoid doing more than your body can handle, lest you die before your time. God rested on the seventh day.

5) Fear

God has not given us the spirit of fear. It is from the devil (2 Timothy 1:7). Job 3:24-26 affirms that fearing something actually brings it into existence. The results of fear are brought to life by the devil.

6) Satanic oppression

Every satanic attack bows to the force of faith. Victory that overcomes the world is guaranteed by having faith. Satanic oppression cannot stand biblical faith at work. Job 2:4-7 says, “Skin for skin!”

Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.” The LORD said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head”.

Therefore, we should be mindful of the various causes of illness.

Events calendar

We start publishing diaries for forthcoming events on February 2 since we know that a number of churches are still on their corporate prayer and fasting programmes.

But, we also believe that churches have their 2013 events all set out. We hope that you take this opportunity to share with other believers and non-believers alike about events in your church, as the year progresses.

Let me reiterate what I said on August 11, 2010 while responding to a query from one of our valued readers who wanted to know whether I fellowshipped with a certain Pentecostal church since Divine Appointments (DA) featured more events from them: “I don’t, but I fellowship with a Harare-based Bible-believing church and it is my fervent desire to see the Lord’s name extolled on high.

( Have Dominion )

“And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth’” (Gen. 1:28).

- Genesis 1:28-31
On day six of creation, God finished His work by creating human beings as His image bearers (Gen. 1:26–27). However, before Moses goes on to describe what happened on day seven, he records the blessing God gave to the human race, a blessing that helps us to understand what it means to be in the image of God.

This blessing includes the command to subdue the earth and have dominion over “every living thing” (v. 28). The Ruler of the universe thought it fitting to have men and women alike serve as His vice-regents over creation. We thus see that to be in the image of God is to share His attributes, such as lordship, and to reflect His character.

Unfortunately, our ability to mirror God’s perfections has been severely compromised by the fall into sin. As we look all around us we see that man still follows the God-given drive to have dominion, but now he has perverted that intent from a reign of servant-leadership to tyranny (see Matt. 20:20–28). Men oppress women and women rebel against male leadership. Nations war against nations instead of working together to multiply and share resources. Passages like Genesis 1:28 are twisted to justify the abuse of the environment. This is not as it should be; we are to reflect God’s holiness as we subdue the earth for His glory. As Dr. R.C. Sproul writes in his book Essential Truths of the Christian Faith: “We are called to reflect the character of God’s righteous rule over the universe. He never ravages or exploits what He rules, but rather reigns in justice and kindness” (132).

Our goal is to manifest God’s righteous rule over all of creation. In the ancient Near East, a king would set up statues of himself across the land to manifest his sovereignty over his kingdom. In reading that man is the image of God, Moses’ original audience would have understood that as they reproduced and filled the earth (v. 28), they would be representing the sovereign Creator to His creation. This responsibility was not abrogated by Adam’s sin (9:1). Today we are called to disciple both our children and all God’s people, so the earth might be filled with redeemed image-bearers who wisely and justly manifest the Lord’s sovereign holiness (Matt. 28:18–20).

Coram Deo
Subduing creation for God’s glory is a multifaceted endeavor. It involves the raising of godly children and the conversion of the nations so that the world will be filled with sanctified image-bearers. Taking dominion also means we endeavor to use our talents in every discipline in order to bring glory to God. As you work in your vocation, seek to glorify God in all you do by laboring diligently and by submitting to those in authority over you.

( HOW TO HAVE DOMINION THROUGH GOD )
God never intended for His people to live in defeat. He destined you to rule.

Have you noticed that more and more people today are searching for meaning and purpose in life? This trend provides abundant opportunities for Christians to reach out with the supernatural power of God to influence their culture. Researchers claim that more souls have come into the kingdom of God in the last few decades than in all the centuries combined since Christ's ministry on earth.

However, the battle against darkness is not diminishing. Statistics reveal the probability that only 4 percent of today's youth will embrace evangelical Christianity. If we have the answers to life's questions, why are we ineffective at reaching people?

We are entering what the Bible calls the fullness of time, and much is at stake. God is positioning us to advance His kingdom into every realm held captive by the enemy. To be successful, we must understand our authority in Christ—what some call "kingdom authority" or "dominion rule."

Dominion rule has become a regular confession among many believers. The church's voice is resounding with the desire to see the manifestation of our God-given assignment to rule and reign over the earth (see Gen. 1:26-28).

However, if all we do is confess, this goal will not be realized. Authority does not come through confession. Authority is uncompromisingly tied to responsibility. And it is only one facet of walking in dominion.

You see, God has called us to be His kingdom representatives on earth, to establish a righteous paradigm. We need more than authority to do that. When we identify the areas over which He has given us influence and commit to being agents of change in them, everything we need to transform the culture and cause the lost to be drawn to Him is made available to us—favor, creativity, power, wisdom and so on.

Taking dominion therefore requires more than simply wielding authority in the name of Jesus. It requires knowledge and the understanding and rightful use of our position in Christ. To discover what that position is, we need to look at God's original plan and purpose for mankind.

God's Original Plan

The Bible declares this purpose: "God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, and the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

"And God blessed them, and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it ... and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth'" (Gen. 1:26-28, The Amplified Bible, emphasis added).

Having made man in His image, God provided Adam and Eve, the earth's new stewards, with intellect, creative abilities and an innate gift of leadership to rule and reign. Our Father is always about the business of His kingdom, and He created man with the same calling and design. It was a natural outcome that man be given the responsibility to manage creation, including the earth and all living creatures.
