*IT IS A THING OF THE HEART*
*Mark 10:17, 21-22 …there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? *Then Jesus …said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.*
God knows those who really are after His own heart and those that are His (2Tim.2:19). He knows any believer that values and is passionate about the things that He values and is passionate about. Man looks at the outward but God looks at the heart (1Sam.16:7). There are some believers who appear to be passionate about God and appear to value the things God values, but this is not the real state of their hearts.
The man who came to Jesus in our text above appeared very passionate about God. He ran to Jesus, knelt down and called Jesus 'Good Master.' When Jesus finally told him to give up his all and follow Him, the man became sorrowful and went away. Your value and passion for God and what He values are not only revealed when things are convenient, but are moreso revealed in difficult and uncomfortable circumstances. When it is from your heart, you will be willing to make any sacrifice necessary to please God and do His will.
The Bible says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:34). One thing that reveals the state of your heart are the quantity and quality of sacrifices and investments you are willing to make. It will also reflect in your prayers.
*Prayer:*
Heavenly Father, I surrender my all to you. You are my everything and I am willing to give up everything to please you.
