I came across the above comment under my post on the Holy Rosary, and I've seen many others echo similar concerns, it's a common point of discussion among believers.

Let's clarify this together, dear friend, with respect for your strong faith in Jesus as the way, truth, and life (John 14:6), which remains our shared foundation. Catholic devotion to Mary and the Rosary doesn't contradict that, it honors Jesus by meditating on His life through Scripture while asking His mother to pray with us, just as we request prayers from fellow Christians.

Scripture affirms Mother Mary's unique place without making Her God or equal to Jesus. At the Annunciation, the angel Gabriel calls Her "full of grace" (Luke 1:28), chosen by God to bear the Savior.
Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, declares Her "blessed among women" and "the mother of my Lord" (Luke 1:42-43), recognizing Her as Mother of God Incarnate.
Jesus Himself honors Her at Cana, responding to Her intercession by performing His first miracle, turning water into wine (John 2:1-11) a sign She brings our needs to Him.

The Rosary isn't "reciting to Mary" but a Christ-centered prayer that repeats verses straight from Scripture, like the Hail Mary, drawn from Luke 1:28 ("Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee") and Luke 1:42 ("Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus").

Its mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, Luminous) guide us to contemplate key Gospel events, from the Annunciation to the Resurrection, deepening our focus on Jesus' life, death, and victory. This meditative practice fulfills Jesus' call to "pray without ceasing"

Asking Mary (or saints) to pray for us aligns with biblical patterns of intercession among believers. Job prayed for his friends and God restored him (Job 42:10)
Paul urged Timothy to intercede for others (1 Timothy 2:1), saying such prayers are "good and acceptable in the sight of God."

Revelation shows Mother Mary in heaven, crowned and active with the saints (Rev 12:1), joining the chorus praising God.

If we can request prayers from Earthly men(Pastor, friends, loved ones) why can't we ask for Her heavenly intercessions 🤷🤷 as Jesus promises to grant prayers in His name (John 14:13-14), and Mother Mary's intercession at Cana models bringing needs to Him effectively, without bypassing Him.

Catholics don't pray "to Mother Mary as God" but honor Her as Jesus did (Exodus 20:12, "Honor your father and mother").

Why Mary Is Truly the Mother of God

Martin Luther. John Calvin. Zwingli.
The very fathers of the Protestant Reformation insisted that Mary be called the Mother of God.

Why? Because this title is not about Mary—it is about who Jesus is.

When the early Christians called Mary the Mother of God, they were defending a core truth of the faith:
Jesus is not partly God and partly man. He is fully God and fully man, one divine Person.

That is why Elizabeth cried out, “How is it that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?”
The word Kyrios does not merely mean a human lord—it also means the Divine Lord.

To deny Mary as Mother of God is not humility.
It is a misunderstanding of the Incarnation.

Mary is the Mother of God because the Child she bore is God in the flesh.

As a Catholic priest, I meet many people who are tempted to mix alters. Sunday, they kneel before Christ. Monday, they consult shrines or spiritual intermediaries. Not because they hate God, but because fear whispers: What if Jesus is not enough?

God is not angry with those who are searching. Many who go to shrines do so out of pain, out of desperation, out of inherited culture. God does not hate them. He longs for them. And as priests, we are not called to condemn, but to accompany.

However, love also calls us to speak truth. Every substitute for God eventually becomes a prison. Only Christ gives freedom. When we stand before the Sacred Heart, we are invited into, surrender, healing, repentance, belonging, mission We do not bring offerings to control Him. We bring our wounds, sins, fears and hopes and He receives them into His burning Heart. And from there flows:
Mercy. Grace. Peace. Strength to forgive. Courage to love. Hope to continue.

As Your Brother Priest, Dear friends. There are many altars in this world, but only One is crowned with a Heart pierced for us. Let us not live in fear of spirits when we belong to the Lord of Heaven and Earth.

Let us not search for protection elsewhere when the Heart of Jesus beats for us every moment. And if you have ever been involved in other practices, do not be afraid. Christ is not ashamed to receive you. His Heart remains open. Always. Come back home.

Entering 2026 Under the Protection of the Two Hearts

"As we step into the year 2026, we place every day, every challenge, and every joy into the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May the burning love of Jesus’ Heart purify our intentions, and may the gentle, prayerful Heart of Mary guide us toward peace. We pray that through these Two Hearts, our world finds healing, families find unity, and every soul finds the path to God’s grace.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Wishing you all a blessed and holy 2026!"

CAN A WOMAN BECOME A NUN EVEN IF SHE IS NOT A VIRGIN?

You can still become a nun or religious sister even if you are not a virgin. What matters is the vow of celibacy you take from that point onward, not your past.

The Church is more concerned with your devotion to God and your willingness to live a life of chastity, poverty, and obedience than with your sexual history, as long as you are single and have no dependents.

Key ideas:

Celibacy, not past virginity: Religious sisters promise to live chastely in the future; they are not required to have been virgins before joining.

Previous relationships allowed: Women with past marriages or sexual experiences are often accepted into religious orders.

Emphasis on vocation: The Church seeks a genuine calling and the ability to live a devoted, celibate life in service and community.

Freedom from dependents: Candidates are generally expected to have no children or others relying on them.

Past doesn’t define you: Earlier mistakes or life experiences do not block a religious calling; the Church welcomes those who desire a deeper relationship with God.

In short, if you feel called to religious life, your past experiences do not disqualify you what truly matters is your commitment now and your dedication to God in the future.

A Prayer of Radiant Presence

Lord of the Table, We come to You just as we are: carrying the weight of our weeks, the quiet joys of our hearts, and the scars we often hide. In this bread and this cup, You offer us a miracle that is both ancient and brand new.

For the Brokenness: As the bread is broken to feed many, we thank You for meeting us in our own broken places. Remind us that light shines brightest through the cracks. Heal the wounds we cannot name and soothe the anxieties we cannot quiet.

For the Unity: In this "Common Union," remind us that we do not walk alone. Though we are many parts, we are one body. Soften our hearts toward our neighbors, bridge the divides that keep us apart, and help us see Your face in the eyes of the stranger.

For the Transformation: As these elements are set apart for holy use, set us apart for love. Let this meal be more than a memory; let it be fuel. May the grace we taste here become the kindness we show in the world. May the peace we feel here become the justice we seek for others.

The Sending: We leave this table refreshed, not because our problems have vanished, but because Your Presence has filled us. Let us go forth to be "bread for the world"—broken and shared for the sake of love.

Amen.
