Sermon Topic: Keep Your Lamp Burning for the Gospel
Text: Acts of the Apostles 6:1–2
Introduction
In Acts of the Apostles 6:1–2, the early church was growing rapidly, but challenges arose—complaints, distractions, and pressure on leadership. The apostles made a powerful decision: they refused to be distracted from preaching the Word of God. They chose to keep their spiritual “lamp” burning.
A burning lamp represents your passion, your faith, your commitment, and your readiness to serve God. The question today is: Is your lamp still burning for the Gospel?
1. A Burning Lamp Requires Focus
The apostles said: “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables.”
They were not saying serving is bad—but they understood their primary calling.
Many believers today are distracted—by problems, social media, worldly pursuits, or even good things that are not God’s assignment for them.
To keep your lamp burning:
Stay focused on your calling
Prioritize God’s Word
Don’t let distractions quench your fire
2. A Burning Lamp Requires Spiritual Fuel
A lamp cannot burn without oil. Spiritually, your oil is:
Prayer
The Word of God
Fellowship
If you neglect these, your fire will go out.
Just like in the parable of the ten virgins (Gospel of Matthew 25:1–13), those without oil were unprepared.
Ask yourself: Are you daily refilling your lamp?
3. A Burning Lamp Requires Responsibility
The apostles appointed others to handle certain duties so the Gospel work could continue effectively.
This teaches us:
Everyone has a role in God’s house
Supporting the work of God keeps the flame alive
When each person serves faithfully, the Gospel spreads faster
Don’t just watch—be involved.
4. A Burning Lamp Shines in Darkness
The world today is full of darkness—sin, confusion, fear.
Jesus said in Gospel of Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world.”
If your lamp is burning:
People will see Christ in you
Your life will preach the Gospel
Darkness around you will be pushed back
5. A Burning Lamp Must Be Guarded
Fire can go out if not protected.
Things that can quench your lamp:
Sin
Spiritual laziness
Discouragement
Negative influences
Guard your heart. Stay alert. Keep your fire alive.
Conclusion
The apostles in Acts of the Apostles 6:1–2 made a decision to keep their lamp burning by staying committed to the Gospel.
You must also decide today:
Will you stay focused?
Will you keep your spiritual oil full?
Will you shine for Christ?
Call to Action
If your lamp is growing dim, this is the time to rekindle it:
Return to prayer
Return to the Word
Return to your first love
Keep your lamp burning… because the world needs your light.

Preacher: Rev. Kefas Yakubu
Sermon Topic: Condition of the Heart
Text: Gospel of Luke 8:6–8
Introduction
In this passage, Jesus Christ shares the Parable of the Sower, revealing that the Word of God produces results based on the condition of the heart. The seed is good, but the soil determines the harvest.
Bible Reading (Luke 8:6–8 Summary)
Jesus described seeds falling on different types of ground:
Some fell on rock and withered
Some fell among thorns and were choked
Some fell on good soil and produced fruit
He ended by saying: “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
1. The Heart Determines the Outcome
The “soil” represents our hearts.
No matter how powerful the Word is, it will only grow where the heart is prepared.
A hard heart rejects the Word
A shallow heart receives it with no depth
A crowded heart is distracted by life’s worries
A good heart receives, keeps, and produces fruit
👉 The question is not “Is the Word powerful?” but “Is my heart ready?”
2. The Danger of a Hard Heart
A hardened heart is resistant to God.
Caused by sin, pride, and unbelief
The Word cannot pe*****te
Just like seed on a rock, nothing grows.
👉 Warning: Constantly ignoring God’s voice makes the heart harder.
3. The Problem of a Shallow Heart
Some people receive the Word with joy, but they lack depth.
No strong foundation
Easily shaken by trials
When problems come, they fall away.
👉 Christianity is not only about excitement—it requires commitment and roots.
4. The Distraction of a Crowded Heart
Thorns represent:
Worries
Riches
Pleasures of life
These choke the Word.
👉 Many people are not empty of God—they are just too full of other things.
5. The Blessing of a Good Heart
A good heart:
Hears the Word
Keeps it
Produces fruit with patience
This is the heart God desires.
👉 Fruitfulness is the evidence of a transformed heart.
6. How to Prepare Your Heart
To have a good heart:
Repent – Remove hardness
Meditate on the Word – Build depth
Avoid distractions – Uproot thorns
Obey God – Produce fruit
Conclusion
The same seed is sown to everyone, but the results differ because of the heart.
Today, Jesus Christ is asking:
👉 What is the condition of your heart?
Call to Action
If your heart is hard—ask God to soften it
If it is shallow—ask God to deepen it
If it is crowded—ask God to cleanse it
Prayer:
“Lord, prepare my heart to receive Your Word. Remove every hardness, distraction, and shallowness. Help me to bear fruit in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Preacher: Rev. John Y Mamman
Sermon Topic: GOD’S POWER IS GREATER THAN ALL OTHER POWERS
Text: Leviticus 20:6
Introduction
In a world filled with fear, uncertainty, and spiritual confusion, many people seek power from different sources—some turn to charms, witchcraft, or familiar spirits. But the Word of God clearly reminds us that no power can be compared to the power of God.
Our anchor scripture says:
“And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards… I will even set my face against that soul.” (Leviticus 20:6)
This shows that God strongly warns against seeking alternative powers because His power alone is supreme and sufficient.
1. GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL TRUE POWER
Everything that exists derives its power from God.
In Genesis, God created the heavens and the earth by His word.
No other power can create life or sustain it.
Message: If God is the source, why go to substitutes?
2. OTHER POWERS ARE LIMITED AND DECEPTIVE
Many so-called powers (occult, witchcraft, charms) may seem real but are:
Temporary
Deceptive
Dangerous
In Exodus, Pharaoh’s magicians tried to imitate God’s miracles, but they failed and were defeated.
Key Point: What looks powerful is often powerless before God.
3. GOD FORBIDS SEEKING OTHER POWERS
Leviticus 20:6 is a serious warning:
God calls it unfaithfulness
It brings separation from Him
It invites judgment instead of blessing
Also, in Deuteronomy, God clearly forbids divination and sorcery.
Lesson: You cannot serve God and seek other powers at the same time.
4. GOD’S POWER DELIVERS AND PROTECTS
Unlike other powers, God’s power:
Saves (He delivered Israel from Egypt)
Protects (He preserved Daniel in the lions’ den)
Heals and restores
Example: Daniel shows how God shut the mouths of lions—no other power could do that.
5. JESUS CHRIST: THE GREATEST DISPLAY OF GOD’S POWER
Through Jesus Christ:
Demons were cast out
The sick were healed
Death was defeated
His resurrection proves that God’s power is greater than sin, Satan, and death.
Conclusion
Leviticus 20:6 is not just a warning—it is an invitation to trust the only true and living God.
God’s power is:
Supreme
Eternal
Unchallengeable
Call to Action
Turn away from every false source of power
Put your trust fully in God
Build your relationship with Him through prayer and His Word
Closing Prayer
Lord, help us to trust only in You. Deliver us from every temptation to seek other powers. Let Your power be evident in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Preacher: Rev. John Y Mamman
Sermon Topic: God Has Given You a Second Chance to Keep Your Lamp Burning
Text: Judges 16:25, 28
Introduction
Life is a journey full of mistakes, failures, and sometimes wrong decisions. Many people believe that once they fail, God is finished with them. But the story in Judges 16 shows us that God is a God of second chances. Even when we fall, God can still restore us and give us another opportunity to fulfill our purpose.
Samson made serious mistakes, lost his strength, lost his position, and even lost his eyes. But one thing he did not lose was the mercy of God.
1. Samson Lost His Lamp Because of Carelessness
Samson was chosen by God from birth. He had strength, purpose, and divine calling. But he became careless with his life and calling. He revealed his secret to Delilah, and his hair was cut. His strength left him, and his enemies captured him.
Many believers today are like Samson:
They were once prayerful
Once committed to God
Once on fire spiritually
But carelessness, sin, laziness, and worldly distractions caused their lamp to go out.
When your lamp stops burning, your enemies begin to celebrate.
Judges 16:25 shows that Samson became entertainment for his enemies.
2. Failure Is Not the End — God Gives Second Chances
Even though Samson failed, God did not abandon him.
The Bible says his hair began to grow again. This is a sign that God was restoring him quietly.
Your lamp may have gone down. Your prayer life may be weak. Your faith may be shaking. But if you are still alive, your hair can grow again. Your strength can return again. Your fire can burn again.
As long as there is life, there is a second chance.
3. Samson Prayed and God Answered Again
In Judges 16:28, Samson prayed:
“O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once…”
This was a prayer of repentance, humility, and surrender.
And God answered him again.
This teaches us:
God listens when we return
God restores when we repent
God strengthens when we cry to Him again
God is not looking for perfect people; He is looking for people who will return to Him.
4. Your Lamp Must Keep Burning
The lamp represents:
Your faith
Your prayer life
Your holiness
Your calling
Your relationship with God
If you don’t keep your lamp burning:
Spiritual darkness will come
Destiny can be delayed
Enemies will rejoice
But today God is saying: “I have given you another chance. Rise again. Pray again. Serve again. Believe again. Keep your lamp burning again.”
Conclusion
Samson’s final moment was stronger than his beginning because he returned to God.
Your past mistakes do not cancel God’s plan for your life.
God is giving you a second chance to:
Pray again
Serve again
Love again
Believe again
Keep your spiritual lamp burning again
Closing Prayer
“Lord, thank You for not giving up on me. Thank You for a second chance. Restore my strength, restore my fire, restore my prayer life. Help me to keep my lamp burning until the end. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Preacher: Rev. John Y Mamman
Sermon Topic: You Are Responsible for Your Vows
Text References:
Ecclesiastes 5:1–2, 5–6
Genesis 9:9–11
Genesis 22:16–17
Introduction
Beloved, vows are not ordinary words. A vow is a sacred promise made before God. Many people speak quickly in prayer, in trouble, in excitement, or during emotional moments—but forget that heaven records every word.
Today, the Lord is reminding us: You are responsible for your vows.
1. Be Careful What You Say Before God
Ecclesiastes 5:1–2, 5–6
The Bible warns us to guard our steps when we go into the house of God. It says:
“Do not be quick with your mouth… God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.”
God does not delight in careless promises. It is better not to vow than to vow and not fulfill it.
Many people say:
“Lord, if you bless me, I will serve you.”
“God, if you heal me, I will stop this sin.”
“If I pass this exam, I will give offering.”
But after the blessing comes, the promise disappears.
Lesson: God hears. God remembers. And God expects fulfillment.
2. God Takes Covenants Seriously
Genesis 9:9–11
After the flood, God made a covenant with Noah. He promised never to destroy the earth again with water. God Himself tied His integrity to His word.
If the Almighty keeps His covenant, who are we to break ours?
God is teaching us that vows are covenant matters. When you speak before God, you are entering spiritual agreement.
3. God Rewards Faithful Obedience
Genesis 22:16–17
When Abraham obeyed God and was willing to sacrifice Isaac, God swore by Himself:
“By Myself have I sworn… I will bless you and multiply your descendants.”
Abraham kept his commitment to God. And God responded with generational blessings.
Your obedience to vows can unlock:
Family blessings
Open doors
Divine favor
Lasting legacy
4. Why People Break Vows
Emotional promises without thinking
Forgetfulness
Lack of reverence
Delayed fulfillment
Disobedience and sin
But remember: Delay is not denial. God may test your sincerity.
5. The Consequences of Broken Vows
Ecclesiastes warns that God is not pleased with fools who fail to fulfill vows. Broken vows can bring:
Spiritual dryness
Closed heavens
Guilt and unrest
Loss of credibility
When you vow and do not fulfill it, you are not just breaking words—you are breaking trust with God.
6. What Should You Do?
1️⃣ Think before you vow
Do not promise what you cannot fulfill.
2️⃣ Fulfill quickly
When God answers you, do not delay.
3️⃣ Repent if you have failed
God is merciful. If you have broken a vow, return and ask for mercy.
4️⃣ Live a life of integrity
Let your yes be yes.
Conclusion
Beloved, heaven is not moved by many words—but by faithful words.
God keeps His promises. Abraham kept his obedience. Now it is your turn.
Ask yourself:
What have I promised God?
Have I fulfilled my vow?
Am I faithful in my commitments?
Today, make a decision: “I will be a person of integrity. I will honor my vows before God.”
Closing Prayer
Father Lord, forgive us for careless words. Give us grace to fulfill every vow we have made before You. Teach us to speak with wisdom and live with integrity. Let our obedience bring generational blessings in Jesus’ name. Amen

Speaker: Rev. John Y Mamman
Topic: THE LAMP OF YOUR FAMILY IS DYING OUT
Texts:
First Epistle to the Thessalonians 4:1–8
Book of Deuteronomy 23:12–14
INTRODUCTION
Beloved, every family has a lamp.
A lamp represents:
The presence of God
The moral standard of the home
The spiritual fire
The covenant light passed from one generation to another
When the lamp is burning, there is direction.
When the lamp is dying, confusion, shame, and darkness enter.
Today we ask:
Is the lamp of your family still burning… or is it dying out?
1️⃣ THE LAMP DIES WHEN HOLINESS IS LOST
(1 Thessalonians 4:1–8)
The Apostle Paul urged believers to live in holiness and purity.
God’s will is sanctification.
When s*xual immorality, secret sin, dishonor, and uncleanness enter a family, the spiritual lamp begins to flicker.
Verse 7 says:
"For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness."
Many family lamps are dying because:
Parents no longer model righteousness
Children grow without spiritual discipline
Marriage beds are defiled
Sin is tolerated instead of corrected
Holiness is oil for the family lamp.
Without oil, fire cannot remain.
2️⃣ THE LAMP DIES WHEN GOD’S PRESENCE DEPARTS
(Deuteronomy 23:12–14)
God instructed Israel to keep the camp clean because:
“For the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp…”
God walks in families.
But He does not dwell where there is uncleanness.
When a home becomes spiritually polluted:
Quarrels increase
Peace disappears
Prayer becomes dry
Favor is withdrawn
The problem is not witches.
The problem is spiritual uncleanness that chases God away.
If God leaves the camp, the lamp must go out.
3️⃣ SIGNS THAT THE FAMILY LAMP IS DYING
No altar of prayer in the home
No hunger for the Word
Children mocking spiritual things
Generational curses repeating
No peace in marriage
Sudden moral collapse
When light fades, darkness takes over gradually — not suddenly.
4️⃣ HOW TO RELIGHT THE FAMILY LAMP
🔥 1. Repentance
Return to God sincerely.
Confess hidden sins.
🔥 2. Restore the Family Altar
Pray together
Study Scripture
Worship in the home
🔥 3. Purify the Camp
Remove:
Immoral relationships
Corrupt media
Ungodly influences
🔥 4. Rebuild Covenant
Declare: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
5️⃣ A PROPHETIC WARNING
If the lamp dies:
Destiny weakens
Influence reduces
Spiritual authority disappears
Generations suffer
But if the lamp burns:
Children rise in favor
Marriage shines
God’s glory rests upon the home
CONCLUSION
Beloved, God is walking in your camp today.
Will He find it clean?
Will He find oil in your lamp?
Do not allow the lamp of your family to die.
Let holiness return.
Let prayer return.
Let fire return.
May your family lamp burn brighter than ever in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Sermon Topic: How Prepared Are You for the Coming of Jesus Christ?
Text: Gospel of Luke 12:35–48
Introduction
Beloved, Jesus is coming again. The question is not if He will come, but are you prepared? In Gospel of Luke 12:35–48, our Lord gives a powerful warning and encouragement about readiness. He compares His coming to a master returning unexpectedly and servants waiting faithfully.
Today, let us examine ourselves: How prepared are you for the coming of Jesus Christ?
1. Be Dressed and Ready (Luke 12:35)
“Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning.”
In Bible times, servants tied their garments to move freely and work efficiently. Spiritually, this means:
Live a holy life
Stay spiritually alert
Do not be spiritually lazy
Your lamp represents your faith, prayer life, and relationship with God. Is your lamp still burning, or is it going out?
2. Watchfulness Is Required (Luke 12:36–40)
Jesus said the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.
Many people are:
Busy with money
Distracted by pleasures
Sleeping spiritually
But Christ warns us to stay awake. His coming will be sudden.
Remember, even in Gospel of Matthew 24:44, Jesus said, “Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Are you ready if He comes tonight?
3. Faithful Stewardship (Luke 12:41–44)
Jesus speaks about a faithful and wise servant who manages his master's household well.
God has given you:
Talents
Time
Opportunities
Spiritual gifts
Are you using them for His glory?
Preparedness is not just waiting — it is working faithfully while waiting.
4. The Danger of Spiritual Carelessness (Luke 12:45–46)
The unfaithful servant said, “My master is delaying,” and began to live carelessly.
Many believers think:
“Jesus is not coming soon.”
“I will repent later.”
But sudden judgment comes to the careless servant.
Delayed obedience is dangerous.
5. Accountability Is Certain (Luke 12:47–48)
“To whom much is given, much is required.”
If you know the truth of the Gospel, you have responsibility.
In Gospel of John 14:3, Jesus promised, “I will come again.”
He will reward faithfulness and judge unfaithfulness.
Signs You Are Prepared
✔ You live in daily repentance
✔ You forgive others
✔ You serve faithfully
✔ You love righteousness
✔ You are not ashamed of Christ
Practical Ways to Prepare
Maintain a consistent prayer life
Study the Word of God
Live in holiness
Share the Gospel
Reconcile broken relationships
Avoid habitual sin
Conclusion
The coming of Jesus is closer than ever. The trumpet will sound suddenly. The question remains:
If Jesus appears right now, will you rejoice or regret?
Let us be like the faithful servants — dressed, ready, and watching.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us to be ready for Your coming. Keep our lamps burning. Make us faithful servants. Remove spiritual laziness from our lives. When You return, may we not be ashamed. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Preacher: Rev. John Y. Mamman
**SERMON TOPIC:
THE CHALLENGES OF CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE IN THE 21ST CENTURY**
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:3–7
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from s*xual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.”
INTRODUCTION
Marriage is a divine institution ordained by God from the beginning (Genesis 2:18–24). It is meant to reflect Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22–33). However, in the 21st century, Christian marriage faces unprecedented challenges that threaten its sanctity, stability, and spiritual foundation.
As believers, we are called not to follow the pattern of the world, but to live in holiness, especially in our marriages.
THE WILL OF GOD FOR MARRIAGE (1 Thess. 4:3)
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification…”
God’s primary desire for every Christian marriage is holiness, not just happiness. Many couples today seek pleasure, comfort, or social status rather than God’s will.
🔹 God’s standard for marriage:
Purity
Faithfulness
Mutual respect
Christ-centered love
MAJOR CHALLENGES FACING CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE TODAY
1. Sexual Immorality and Infidelity (v.3)
The world today promotes:
Po*******hy
Adultery
Casual s*x
Living together before marriage
Many Christians are influenced by social media, movies, and culture rather than the Word of God.
👉 But the Bible says: “Abstain from s*xual immorality.”
2. Loss of Self-Control (v.4–5)
“That each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor…”
Many marriages are suffering because spouses lack:
Patience
Self-control
Discipline
Anger, jealousy, and uncontrolled emotions are destroying homes.
A Spirit-filled believer must control their body, words, and actions.
3. Materialism and Greed
In the 21st century, many marriages are breaking because of:
Money problems
Competition between spouses
Love of wealth over love of family
Instead of trusting God, couples fight over finances.
👉 The Bible says: “The love of money is the root of all evil.” (1 Timothy 6:10)
4. Influence of Social Media and Technology
Many couples spend more time on their phones than with each other:
Secret chats
Online flirting
Emotional cheating
This creates distance, mistrust, and conflict.
5. Neglect of Prayer and Spiritual Life
Many Christian homes no longer pray together, study the Bible together, or worship together.
A marriage without prayer is like a house without a foundation.
GOD’S CALL TO HOLINESS (v.7)
“For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.”
Christian marriage must be:
Built on Christ
Governed by the Word of God
Sustained by prayer
Filled with the Holy Spirit
PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS FOR CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
Put God first in your home.
Pray together daily.
Flee from s*xual temptation.
Communicate with love and respect.
Forgive one another.
Seek godly counsel when there is conflict.
Guard your heart and your marriage.
CONCLUSION
Christian marriage in the 21st century is under attack, but with Christ at the center, every challenge can be overcome.
Let us commit our marriages into God’s hands and walk in holiness as Paul instructed in 1 Thessalonians 4:3–7.
Closing Prayer
“Lord, strengthen every Christian marriage. Deliver us from temptation, fill our homes with your love, and help us to walk in holiness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
