POWER HOUSE COMMUNION
DATE: Friday 22nd May, 2026
TOPIC: SPEAK LESS, LISTEN MORE
FOCUS: James 1:19…“Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
One of the clearest signs of maturity is the ability to listen. Many people are quick to speak, quick to react, and quick to conclude but slow to truly hear. Yet wisdom grows in the place of careful listening.
Listening is more than staying silent while someone else talks; it is paying attention with the intent to understand. When you listen well, you gain insight, avoid unnecessary conflicts, and build stronger relationships. Many misunderstandings, arguments, and regrets could be avoided if people took time to listen first.
A person who speaks too quickly often speaks wrongly. Words spoken without understanding can damage relationships and create problems that could have been prevented. But when you listen before responding, your words carry weight, clarity, and grace.
God also speaks, but often in a still and quiet way. If your life is filled with noise constant talking, distractions, and reactions you may miss His direction. Learning to listen positions you not only to understand people better but also to discern God’s voice more clearly.
REFLECTION
Make it a daily practice: pause, listen, process, and then respond. Don’t rush to prove a point; seek first to understand. Wisdom flows to those who are willing to hear.
DECLARATION
I am quick to hear and slow to speak. I listen with understanding and respond with wisdom. My words are guided by grace, and I avoid unnecessary conflicts. I grow daily in discernment, and I hear clearly both people and the voice of God. In Jesus’ name.
