NYSC is 52 today
And on this ground I want to educate us about this scheme called NYSC
NYSC was created on 22 May 1973 during the general Yakubu Gowon regime as an avenue for the reconciliation, reconstruction, and rebuilding of the nation after the civil war. It was created to promote national unity and integration.
Key Aspects of NYSC
1. Mandatory service: All Nigerian graduates under 30 are required to participate.
2. National integration: Fostering unity and understanding between different ethnic groups and regions.
3.Service-oriented: Contributing to national development through deployments in various sectors.
4. Orientation camp: A three-week training program for corps members.
5.Community Development Service (CDS): Participating in community development projects.
6. Skills acquisition: Developing marketable skills through various programs.
Objectives of NYSC
1. Inculcate discipline: Promoting a sense of responsibility and civic duty.
2.Foster patriotism: Encouraging love and loyalty for Nigeria.
3.Promote collective responsibility: Developing a sense of shared responsibility among young people.
To wrap it up,this scheme is a blessing to the people of Nigeria and to my self as a person,if not what would have brought me to Jigawa stateπ
