TOPIC: TITHING: A KEY TO OPEN HEAVENS

BIBLE READING:
Malachi 3:10
«“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse... and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing.”»

IMPACT WORD:
“Tithing is not merely about giving God a portion of what is in your hand; it is an act of honour, trust, and obedience to the One who provides it.”

Tithing is one of the biblical practices through which believers demonstrate gratitude, honour, and trust in God. A tithe traditionally refers to giving a tenth, and Scripture presents giving as part of our relationship with God and our responsibility toward His work.

In Malachi 3:10, God challenged His people to bring their tithes into the storehouse and connected their obedience with His promise of blessing. The passage speaks of the “windows of heaven” being opened and provision being poured out.

However, tithing should never become a way of trying to buy God's favour or manipulate Him into giving us what we want. God cannot be reduced to a financial transaction. We give because He is worthy, because everything we have ultimately comes from Him, and because we desire to honour Him.

Tithing also teaches us discipline. It reminds us that our possessions do not own us and that God remains our source. When we put God first in our finances, we demonstrate that our trust is in Him rather than in money.

Jesus also emphasized the importance of faithfulness, justice, mercy, and love. Therefore, our giving should be accompanied by a life that honours God.

Don't tithe merely because you want financial increase. Tithe because you love God, trust Him, and desire to honour Him with your substance.

As you faithfully manage what God has entrusted to you, may your life become a testimony of His provision, wisdom, and faithfulness.

God is not looking merely at the size of your gift; He is looking at the heart behind it.

1. Father, give me grace to honour You faithfully with my finances and everything You have entrusted into my hands, in Jesus' name.

2. Lord, give me wisdom to manage my resources responsibly, provide for my needs, support Your work, and bless those around me, in Jesus' name.

1. Do I genuinely see God as the source of everything I have?
2. Am I faithful and disciplined in managing the resources entrusted to me?
3. Is my giving motivated by love and gratitude or simply by a desire to receive something in return.
4. How can I honour God more faithfully with my finances and possessions?

“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.” — Proverbs 3:9

PROPHETIC DECLARATION:
I decree over your life today: As you honour God with your substance and walk faithfully in His principles, may the Lord give you wisdom, favour, opportunities, and strength to prosper in every good work. May He establish the work of your hands and give you grace to meet your responsibilities without fear. Every door that God has ordained for your advancement shall open at the appointed time. You shall not be ruled by financial anxiety, and you shall have enough to provide for yourself and become a blessing to others. May your finances be managed with wisdom, integrity, and discipline, and may your life continually testify of God's faithfulness. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!

7 Essential Things Every Church Member Should Know About the Church

1. The Church Is a Place of Worship
The primary purpose of gathering as a church is to worship God, honour His name, praise Him, and acknowledge His greatness. Worship should be sincere and centred on God. (John 4:24; Psalm 95:6).

2. The Church Is a Place of Spiritual Growth
Church provides an environment where believers receive sound biblical teaching, deepen their faith, develop spiritual maturity, and grow in their relationship with God. (Ephesians 4:11–15; 1 Peter 2:2).

3. The Church Is a Place of Fellowship
Believers are called to live in fellowship with one another. The church provides an opportunity to build godly relationships, encourage one another, and demonstrate Christian love. (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24–25).

4. The Church Is a Place of Service
Every member has a valuable role to play. God has given each believer gifts and abilities that can be used to serve Him and contribute to the growth of His Church. (1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7).

5. The Church Is a Place of Learning and Obedience
Members should not only hear God's Word but also apply it in their daily lives. Genuine faith is demonstrated through obedience to God's instructions. (James 1:22; Matthew 7:24).

6. The Church Is a Place of Accountability and Spiritual Guidance
A healthy church encourages members to accept godly counsel, correction, instruction, and accountability. These help believers remain faithful and spiritually responsible. (Proverbs 27:17; Galatians 6:1–2).

7. The Church Is a Spiritual Family
The Church is more than a physical building. It is the body of Christ, made up of believers who are called to love, support, respect, and build one another up. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Romans 12:10).

CONCLUSION:
Being a church member is more than attending services. It involves worshipping God, growing spiritually, fellowshipping with believers, serving faithfully, obeying God's Word, accepting godly guidance, and contributing positively to the body of Christ.

IMPACT WORD:
"The greatest leaders are not those who seek positions, but those who seek God's heart and faithfully serve His purpose."

Godly leadership begins with the condition of the heart, not the position of authority. Before God entrusts anyone with influence over others, He first examines the person's character, humility, obedience, and love for Him. A leader after God's heart is committed to doing God's will rather than pursuing personal ambition.

David was not perfect, yet God described him as a man after His own heart because David sincerely loved God, repented when he sinned, and desired to honor the Lord above all else. His leadership was built on worship, faith, courage, and complete dependence on God. Even while tending his father's sheep, David demonstrated faithfulness in the little things, preparing him for greater responsibility.

In today's world, many pursue leadership for recognition, power, or personal gain. However, God's standard is different. He calls leaders to serve with humility, integrity, compassion, and a genuine concern for those under their care. A godly leader influences people through godly character more than through titles or position.

If you desire to become a leader after God's heart, cultivate a close relationship with Him through prayer, His Word, and obedience. Allow the Holy Spirit to shape your character daily. Discouragement is one of the enemy's most effective tools to weaken faith and hinder progress. It often comes when prayers seem unanswered, challenges become overwhelming, or expectations are delayed. However, God never intended His children to live under the weight of discouragement.
Throughout Scripture, many great men and women of God faced moments of discouragement. Elijah became discouraged after a great victory, David encouraged himself in the Lord during distress, and Paul remained steadfast despite countless trials. Their strength came from remembering God's faithfulness.
When discouragement knocks at your door, choose to focus on God's promises rather than your circumstances. Remember that delays are not denials, and setbacks are often setups for greater testimonies. God's presence with you is greater than any challenge before you.
