🌱 CAMP 2026 | GROWING AS A TRUE DISCIPLE OF CHRIST ✝️

What a powerful and refreshing time in God’s presence! 🙏🏽

The camp has come to a close, but the lessons, fellowship, prayers, worship, and spiritual growth continue beyond the campground.

Under the theme “Growing as a True Disciple of Christ,” we were reminded that discipleship is more than simply believing in Christ. It is about following Him daily, growing in His Word, living by His example, serving others, and bearing fruit that reflects His character.

📖 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” — 1 Peter 2:2

From worship and teachings to prayers, fellowship, and meaningful moments together, this camp challenged us to move beyond spiritual infancy and become committed, Christlike, and fruitful disciples.

The camp may be over, but the journey continues. We leave the camp, but we carry the mission. 🔥

May the seeds planted during this camp continue to grow and produce lasting fruit for the glory of God.

Until we gather again, let us keep growing, keep following, and keep becoming more like Christ. ❤️‍🔥

MENNONITE CHURCH NIGERIA Sunday School Study

Date: 6th September, 2026

TOPIC: The Consequences of Tithing (Part 1)

TEXT: Malachi 3:8–12

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 3:9

“Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase.”

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

1. Explain the biblical foundation and meaning of tithing.
2. Identify the blessings attached to faithful tithing.
3. Recognize the consequences of neglecting or withholding tithes.
4. Develop a personal commitment to honoring God through consistent and faithful giving.

Section 1: Understanding the Principle of Tithing

Bible Passages: Genesis 14:18–20; Leviticus 27:30 & Deuteronomy 14:28–29

Teaching Points

* Definition: Tithe means a tenth — 10% of one’s increase.
* Origin: Began with Abraham’s act of faith and worship before the Law.
* Purpose: To honor God, sustain temple service, and care for the needy.
* Nature: It is holy unto the Lord (Leviticus 27:30).
* Spirit of Tithing: It’s not just an act but an attitude of gratitude and reverence.

Men Who Were Tithers and Their Rewards

1. Abraham — The Father of Faith and the First Recorded Tither

Genesis 14:18–20

Context & Insight:
After Abraham’s victory over the kings who captured Lot, he met Melchizedek, the priest of the Highest God. Out of gratitude and recognition of God’s hand in his success, Abraham gave a tenth of all the spoils.

Reward:
God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham (Genesis 15:1–6).

Lesson:
Tithing is an act of worship, acknowledging that all blessings come from God. Abraham tithed before the Law, showing it is a principle of faith, not just a commandment.

2. Jacob — The Tither Who Vowed to Give Back to God

Genesis 28:20–22

Context & Insight:
After Jacob’s dream of the heavenly ladder, he vowed to tithe all that God would bless him with. This was an expression of trust in God’s provision.

Reward:
God prospered Jacob greatly (Genesis 30:43). He became exceedingly wealthy and influential. God’s covenant blessings followed his household.

Lesson:
Tithing is an act of covenant renewal — it aligns us with divine provision and prosperity. Jacob’s vow was personal, heartfelt, and rooted in gratitude.

3. The Israelites — A Nation Blessed Through Obedience in Tithing

Deuteronomy 14:22–29

Context & Insight:
God commanded Israel to tithe their produce and livestock. This supported the Levites and ensured spiritual and social welfare.

Reward:
God promised continuous harvest and abundance (Deuteronomy 28:1–14). There was no lack in the land when they obeyed.

Lesson:
Tithing sustains both spiritual work and community welfare. It invites God’s favor over a nation’s economy and household.

Discussion Questions

1. Why did Abraham give a tithe before the Law was introduced?
2. What makes tithing an act of worship and not just giving?
3. How does tithing teach us stewardship?
4. Why does the devil prefer believers to remain ignorant?
