ECWA UNVEILS 2027 THEME: “PRESS ON TOWARDS THE GOAL”

(Philippians 3:14)

JOS, NIGERIA – The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has officially unveiled its 2027 theme, “Press On Towards the Goal,” drawing inspiration from the Apostle Paul’s exhortation in Philippians 3:14. The unveiling was made during the annual Chairman and Secretaries Consultation, held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

The theme was formally presented by the ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Job Bagat, who charged the denomination to adopt the scriptural mandate as the spiritual compass for the upcoming year. The selection of the theme underscores a collective call for resilience, focus, and unwavering dedication to the divine mission entrusted to the Church.

As the denomination prepares for a new cycle of ministry, the 2027 theme is designed to galvanize members, leadership, congregations, and departments across the ECWA fold. It serves as a rallying point for the Church to remain steadfast in faith, surmount challenges, and resolutely pursue the heavenly calling and Kingdom objectives set before it.

The unveiling marks the commencement of strategic preparations for 2027, emphasizing core values of perseverance, spiritual maturity, ecclesial unity, and an aggressive advancement of the Great Commission.

💔 OUR HEARTS ARE WITH THE BEREAVED FAMILIES

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Wuse II, Abuja, announces the tragic passing of five beloved members who lost their lives in a fatal road accident while traveling to Samaru Kataf, Southern Kaduna, to attend the burial ceremony of the mother of Mrs. Avong.

The departed members are:

🕊️ Mrs. Julie Ladan
🕊️ Mrs. Grace (Gambo) Daniel Sati
🕊️ Mrs. Esther Tukur
🕊️ Mrs. Theresa S. Gandu

Several other members of the delegation sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical care. We pray for their swift and complete recovery.

This heartbreaking incident has left the ECWA Wuse II family, their loved ones, and the entire Christian community in profound grief. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the departed and pray that God’s comfort, peace, and strength will uphold them during this season of unimaginable pain.

We invite all members of the church, believers, and the public to join us in prayers for the bereaved families, the injured, and the entire ECWA Wuse II community as we mourn this great loss.

May the souls of our departed sisters rest peacefully in the Lord, and may His everlasting grace sustain everyone affected by this tragedy.

TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:15-21
TOPIC: WALKING IN WISDOM

EPHESIANS 5:15-21 NIV

15:Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,

16:making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

17:Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

18:Do not get drunk on w**e, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,

19:speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,

20:always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21:Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

WALKING IN WISDOM

Imitating God and living in the Lord Jesus Christ requires wisdom, to which Paul turns in today's text.

Take a closer look at how he puts it in verses 15-16: "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil."

The tone of the voice used here indicates the importance and urgency of what Paul is calling the believer to.

Note that he calls the Ephesians to "look carefully", indicating the necessity, which is further emphasised in the attitude of "not as unwise but as wise."

He supplied the reason for such an important call as "because the days are evil." The only way to apply wisdom in these evil days is by understanding "what the will of the Lord is" and being "filled with the Holy Spirit" (vs17-18).

The result is a life filled with joy and praise to God, being a blessing to be with, serving one another out of reverence for Christ, and adding value to all the people God brings into your life.

QUESTION:
How do you know that your life is led by wisdom from God?

Dear God, fill me with your wisdom and grant me the courage to choose a life of praise, thanksgiving, and blessing to others, in Jesus' name. Amen.
