Over the past weekend, DevTrain Volunteers Academy continued its training sessions with Cohort XIII volunteers.

On Friday, 15th May 2026, the volunteers were introduced to the concept of Advocacy in Development. The facilitator, Doo Tyoachimin, ensured participants understood the different forms and types of advocacy, as well as effective strategies to advocate and achieve targeted goals.

On Saturday, 16th May 2026, the volunteers put the Facilitation Techniques module into practice. Each participant individually facilitated an assigned Behavioural Competencies topic, helping to sharpen their facilitation skills.

Beyond awareness, we advocate for mentorship, emotional safety, and skills-based guidance. Boys need role models and career pathways to break cycles of misdirection and harm.

Over the weekend, the DevTrain Volunteers Academy (DVA) Fellowship Programme continued its impactful weekend training sessions with Cohort XIII volunteers, completing two essential modules: Basic Communication Skills and Social Media Marketing then Facilitation Techniques

In the first module, the facilitator, Emmanuella Tarzaan, guided the fellows through the fundamentals of effective communication. She emphasized key processes for clear, impactful exchanges and demonstrated practical ways to leverage social media platforms for professional purposes, whether building awareness, engaging communities, or advancing advocacy efforts.
The interactive session equipped our volunteers with tools to communicate confidently and strategically in their roles as change-makers.

The second module (Facilitation Techniques) was led by Suurshater Tion, Our fellows got hands-on with the core skills of effective leadership. From managing dynamic group interactions to mastering the art of active listening, the focus was on creating inclusive, productive environments. The goal was to ensure that participants can clearly convey learning objectives and drive impactful outcomes, no matter the room they find themselves in.

This past weekend, DevTrain Volunteers Academy (DVA) Fellowship Programme successfully completed two key modules with DVA Cohort XIII: Work-Life Balance and Emergency & Disaster Management.

Tiza Agoh led the Work-Life Balance session, arming participants with practical strategies for a sustainable balance that doesn’t harm other areas of life. Volunteers learned how to work smarter, prioritize self-care, and boldly say “no” when needed.

In the Emergency and Disaster Management module, Manasseh Wade equipped volunteers with critical insights into prevention, mitigation, and response strategies. They mastered risk assessment, response planning, and effective protocols to minimize harm in crises — boosting their readiness to act decisively when it matters most.
