The release of the Ekiti kidnap victims after 57 days in captivity is a moment of relief, but it's also a sobering reminder of the devastating impact of insecurity on innocent lives.
What began as attendance at a peaceful open-air crusade turned into nearly two months of unimaginable suffering. Reports say many of the survivors were too weak to walk and had to be carried into the hospital for treatment. Sadly, not everyone made it home alive.
My heart goes out to the victims, the family of the deceased, and everyone affected by this tragedy. I also pray for the safe release of those still in captivity, including the victims of the Oyo school kidnapping.
No one should ever have to experience such pain, fear, and loss. May justice prevail, and may lasting peace and security become a reality for every community.
