THEME: DANIEL-The Portrait Of An Excellent Believer
TOPIC: The Prophet
TEXT: Dan 7 - 12

Introduction
Daniel was introduced to us as a young man selected to be trained for government service. We then saw him graduate in excellent colours and serve several governments with distinction. We saw his excellent character, competence is solving mysteries and great resolve in maintaining integrity and enduring severe trials. In the closing chapters of the book, we begin to see Daniel operate as a Prophet. Hitherto, he interpreted dreams, now he was having heavenly visions and their interpretations. This is a picture of a man who effectively combines secular and spiritual services seamlessly.
There is so much to learn from Daniel in this regard.
1. In the reign of Belshazzar Dan 7:1; Dan 8:1; reminds us of this season when he seemed to have been restricted to the background. When men set you aside, set yourself apart for God.
2. The Prophetic is groomed in seasons of solitude and prayerful meditations. Dan 9:1-3; Dan 10:1-3;
3. When you have a dream or vision, press on in prayer for understanding. Dan 7:15-19; Dan 8:15-16; Dan 10:12; eg 1Cor 14:13;
4. It takes intense prayer with fasting to turn a promise to performance. Jer 29:10; Dan 9:2-3; Ezra 1:1-4;
5. Intercessors take upon them the sins of the people, and repent on their behalf as they plead for mercy before God. Dan 9:4-21; Ezra 9:1-15; Neh 1:4-11; REVIVAL WILL NOT COME BY CRITICISM OR FINGER POINTING! See 2Chron 7:14;
6. It takes an understanding of the times to function effectively in any generation. Dan 8:17; Dan 8:17; Dan 9:2-3; Dan 10:14; Dan 11:32-33; Do you know what time we are in right now? 2Tim 3:1-14; 2Pet 3:3; 1John 2:18; And do you know what your part in it is? Acts 1:8; Eph 4:11-13;
Understanding the Prophecies.
1. The revelations Daniel foretold the history of Israel from the return of the captivity Dan 7:17; Dan 9:25; to the return of Jesus Christ! Dan 7:13-14; Dan 7:18; Dan 7:27; Dan 12:13;
2. Note that everything God revealed to Daniel has happened accurately up to this moment. We can sure that the rest will also happen accurately. Mat 24:14-15;
3. The summary of all end times prophecy is that at the end we that believe in Jesus Christ shall reign with him forever and ever. Dan 7:27-28; Dan 12:1-3; Rev 22:1-5;
Conclusion
A ‘Daniel’ is a believer who knows his God intimately, develops great competence in his life endeavours, and shines the light of God in a dark world as he advances the Kingdom of God. Dare to be a ‘Daniel’.

THEME: DANIEL-The Portrait Of An Excellent Believer
TOPIC: THE SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE
TEXT: Dan 6:1-28;

Introduction
Excellence is the quality of being outstanding beyond comparison. When we speak of good, better and best, we are comparing persons or matters. When we say it’s excellent, we mean it’s in a class by itself.
The Holy Spirit is said to be excellent because, he is an incomparable spirit. When we say ‘how excellent is your name o Lord’, we mean his name stands alone without comparison to any other.
When the Excellent Spirit of God is in a man, such a man becomes excellent in his doings. Such was Daniel.
1. Wise kings who seek excellence, set up systems, structures and processes for administration. Dan 6:1-3; Exo 18:21-22; Acts 6:1-4; Tit 1:5;
2. Wise Kings seek out excellent personnel to handle sensitive assignments. Dan 6:3-5; 1Kings 11:28; Acts 6:3; Both the King and the enemies found Daniel to be excellent. 1Tim 3:7; 1Thes 4:12;
3. Light is always envied and fought by darkness. Dan 6:4-5; John 3:19-20; they will look for loopholes in your life - watch out. 1Cor 10:32; 1Pet 4:14-16;
4. Every wise king ought to be wary of sycophants and self serving proposals. Dan 6:6-9; Esther 3:8-11; Acts 12:20-23; Be suspicious of suggestions that you stand to benefit from, it may be a selfish trap. Dan 6:11-18; Gen 3:1-6; Mat 4:3-10; Mat 16:21-23;
5. Excellent people have excellent habits. Dan 6:10; Josh 1:8; Psa 55:17; Luke 22:39; Acts 3:1;
6. Excellent people will not deviate from their principles even under threat. Dan 6:10. Dan 3:16-18; Acts 20:22-24; Job 13:15;
7. Wicked people try to manipulate human systems for their wicked agendas, the holy among them must be sensitive not to be used for unholy means. Dan 6:11-18; 2Sam 15:1-12; 1Kings 1:1-53;
8. God is able to deliver his excellent servants from every wicked manipulations of the wicked Dan 6:19-23; Psa 91:3; Psa 124:1-8;
9. The wicked will not go unpunished Dan 6:24; Prov 11:21; Isa 3:11;
10. God is glorified through the life of his excellent servants. Dan 6:25-27; Phil 1:20;
Conclusion
Daniel served several kings and remained a godly testimony in a godless system (Dan 6:28; Dan 1:21). His secret was excellent godly character and excellent competence. That is what this world is waiting to see in the lives of Christians today.

TOPIC: LOADED AND NEEDED
TEXT: Dan 5:1-31;

Introduction
After the exploits of Daniel in Babylon have made the King to proclaim the God of Israel as the only true God, we find a new king in this chapter not only worshipping idols but using the vessels brought from the Temple in Jerusalem for the drunken o**y. God responded to fight for His honour. Who else will God use, but Daniel!
1. How did a king arise in Babylon that didn’t know the decree of his father concerning the almighty God and went into idol worship with Holy vessels. Dan 5:1-4; see Dan 4:1-3; Dan 4:37; The knowledge of God is not hereditary, each person must seek to know God for themselves. Exo 1:8; Judges 2:10; Judges 21:25; 1Sam 2:12;
2. God is always able to defend his Holy name. Dan 5:5-9; see Dan 4:29-37; 1Sam 5:1-12; Luke 19:40;
3. It appears that this new (certainly young) king had discarded a man like Daniel, who needed no introduction in the palace before. Dan 5:10-12; however, when you are loaded with the Spirit of God, each generation will need you especially at the most crucial hour. Dan 5:13-16; Eg Mat 3:1-6; 2Tim 4:11;
4. The quality of Daniel Dan 5:11-12; Dan 5:14;
a. Full of the Holy Spirit Acts 1:8; Eph 5:18;
b. Light 2Cor 4:6; Eph 5:14; Eph 1:17; light is revelation.
c. Understanding Eph 1:18; Luke 24:45; 1Cor 2:12; Phil 3:10; 1John 5:20;
d. Wisdom Eph 1:17; Acts 6:10; 1Cor 12:8; Col 1:9; James 3:17;
5. This king’s ignorance of God was a willing ignorance, a rejection of God, Dan 5:17-23; Which God will judge. Dan 5:24-31; Rom 1:18-32; Hos 4:6; 1Sam 2:12-17; 1Sam 2:22-25;
Conclusion
The chosen vessels of God do not seek prominence for themselves Jer 45:5; However, because they are loaded with heavenly treasure, when they are needed they will be fished out. Focus on being a man God can count on for critical assignments at critical times.
