TOPIC: THE FUEL OF GODLY CHARACTER
SCRIPTURE: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your love for God compels your obedience to Him.
Character, Godly character is the bedrock of destiny. Godly character is critical factor to destiny fulfilment. Character is an essential ingredient in the journey of life and destiny.
But character itself is fuelled by certain factors and forces. Those are the factors that make for the availability or lack of Godly character.
In our study today, we shall be looking at some of the factors or forces that fuel Godly character.
1. The fear of God and love for God.
Proverbs 8:13 says, The fear of the LORD is to hate evil.
That is, you are not just avoiding evil; you hate it. That was the testimony of Job; he feared God and eschewed evil (Job 1:1). Joseph also feared God so much that he couldn’t pay his brethren back for the evil they did to him. Genesis 42:18.
Beloved, if you fear God, you will not struggle to keep His commandments. At the same time, your love for God compels your obedience to Him and His commandments.
Matthew 22:37 says, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
2. Love for man and the company you keep.
Love for man makes you unable to hurt others.
Mathew 7:12 says, Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Many lives today are upside down because of the bankruptcy of love and the fear of God. When love is present, compassion becomes natural. With love, your actions are guided by consideration for others. Love, therefore, is a major booster of Godly character.
Remember This: Your love for God compels your obedience to Him.

TOPIC: WISDOM FOR THE TOP

SCRIPTURE: A man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. Ecclesiastes 8:1

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Don’t let your situation limit your vision; let your vision rearrange your situation.

Wisdom is the secret of distinction. The top places of life are not reached by strength alone but facilitated by wisdom and determination.

A person may have raw physical energy, ambition, and even opportunities, but without wisdom, their destiny can be delayed or even derailed. Wisdom is the principal thing. It is the compass that shows a person where to go, what to do, when to move, and how to prevail.

The top is not for the lucky; it is for the wise. Joseph got to the throne by wisdom. Daniel stood before kings by wisdom. Solomon became a global reference point for wisdom. When wisdom speaks, greatness answers.

The question now is, what kind of wisdom will take a man to the top?

1. Maintaining the Presence of God and possessing vision for the top.

Genesis 39:2 says, And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

The Lord being with Joseph, took Joseph up and kept him up. Beloved, you cannot dwell with the Most High and not dwell in the high places of the earth.

Vision is key to elevation, Joseph dreamed dreams, and all his dreams pointed to the top. Where you see yourself today determines where you will find yourself tomorrow. Don’t let your situation limit your vision; let your vision rearrange your situation. No matter where you are, decide where you want to be and see yourself there.

2. Be different and be the best in what you do.

You don’t make a difference until you are different. Your influence is a product of your difference. When people begin to ask why you are different, know that you are going somewhere.
Also, be the best in what you do. 1 Samuel 16:17 says, “And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.

And David was found to be the best. Excellence took David to the palace before the anointing established him there.

Beloved, God has ordained the top for His people, but it takes wisdom to get there. The journey to the top is not accidental—it is intentional. Be intentional about your journey to the top places of life.

Remember this: Don’t let your situation limit your vision; let your vision rearrange your situation.

ASSIGNMENT(S)
1. Value character and integrity above success without diligence and discipline.
2. Act with integrity, patience, and discernment, knowing that true elevation comes from wise choices, steady growth, and the courage to lead differently when it matters most.

PRAYER: Father, in the Name of Jesus, I receive the Spirit of wisdom and sound judgment. Order my steps and make me sharp in discernment. Keep me humble and lift me to the top for Your glory, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE PROFIT OF KNOWLEDGE

SCRIPTURE: A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: Proverbs 1:5

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To be knowledgeable is to be valuable and marketable in life.

We serve a God of knowledge; a God of unfathomable depth whose ways are past finding out (Romans 11:33). And He made us in His Image. So, we must exist and function in knowledge as God’s children.

However, there are many people God cannot do much with because they have abandoned themselves. They have neglected the place of knowledge. They refuse to upgrade themselves.

I said some time ago that if you are not updated, you will be outdated. For instance, someone who got an OND in Accounting since 1975, and has refused to upgrade himself will be stagnated in his career even though he may have been employed since then. Then, a much younger person who was born in 1975 has earned his master’s degree, a PhD, and is also a chartered accountant. Now, if both of them were to be working in the same office, the younger person will now be above the older man, and the older man may be complaining, saying: “It is witches from my village. How can they put a boy over my head?” But the truth is that it is not witches at all. The older man abandoned his life, so he lost his worth.

Beloved, there are opportunities you will never access until you know certain things. That was what happened in 1Kings 9:27. An opportunity opened, and they sent for those who had knowledge.

I once met a police officer who said his colleagues disliked him in the office. Why? Because every time there was a posting or any special assignment, he was always the one selected to go. He said that while he was going for training courses, many of his colleagues were avoiding the courses. He went for courses such as counterterrorism and others, while most of his colleagues avoided them. He learned on the job. So, whenever an opportunity came, and they asked, “Who is the person with this kind of knowledge?” He would be the one. You see, they kept sending him because he was knowledgeable, and that made his colleagues hate him.

Beloved, to be knowledgeable is to be valuable and marketable in life.

Some people are not marketable; you cannot present them. There are times people ask: “Can you get us this kind of person?” And you search through many CVs, yet you cannot find anyone with the required knowledge.

Your knowledge can deliver you from some avoidable losses in life. Some people have lost huge amounts of money trying to do businesses they knew nothing about. Others have experienced massive losses because they signed documents they did not understand.

Beloved, when you are signing complicated documents, please engage the services of knowledgeable people—lawyers or other relevant professionals. Ask them, “What is this really saying?” There may be a slight clause, perhaps just a matter of English grammar, that changes everything. What you thought you understood, you may not understand. And in the end, you would have realised too late that you agreed to something you knew nothing about.

Beloved, if you must upgrade your worth in life, you have to be knowledgeable.

REMEMBER THIS: To be knowledgeable is to be valuable and marketable in life.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Refuse to be outdated—commit to continuous learning
2. Position yourself for opportunities by acquiring relevant knowledge.
3. Seek counsel before making major financial or legal decisions.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for revealing to me the value of knowledge via Your Word. I receive the grace for continuous learning and upgrade, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: YEARNING AND PANTING AFTER GOD

SCRIPTURE: As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? Psalms 42:1-2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is a vacuum in the human heart that nothing and no one else, but God can fill.

It has been confirmed that there is a vacuum in the human heart that nothing and no one else, but God can fill.

No wonder the Psalmist cried in Psalms 63:1-2, O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

So, when a person is dedicated to God, he or she possesses a heart that yearns and pants after God. He or she possesses cravings and desires after God that nothing else can satisfy. Nothing, no one tickles your fancy like God. No movie moves you like God. No game gains your attention like God. No fashion is more fashionable to you than God.

Psalms 63:8 aptly expresses this yearning and panting, My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Beloved, what is the intensity of your desire for God? Without desiring to die before your time, (which is not good), do you occasionally desire that this filthy earth should come to an end so you can have eternity with God in heaven?

I once came across a very frightening Scripture. That is Hebrews 9:27-28: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

This means that when the rapture happens, Jesus’ appearance is not to everyone, but only to those who long, yearn and pant for Him. Those who are at home in this world will be left behind.

If you don’t look for Him, when the trumpet sounds, you may not hear it, because He appears only to those who are looking for Him.

When you are dedicated to God, and your heart yearns and pants after Him. Those who know you know your hunger. They know your passion. They know what you desire above every other thing. Some people have desires that compete with their desire for God. When you put their desire for God and their desire for things on a scale, their desire for things will weigh higher than their desire for God.

Beloved, come to a point where nothing else can compete with your desire for God.

REMEMBER THIS: There is a vacuum in the human heart that nothing and no one else, but God can fill.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Make up your mind that nothing and no one can compete with your desire for God.
2. Ask God to baptise you with an unquenchable hunger for Him.

PRAYER: Father, only You can satisfy my heart. Baptise me with a die-less passion for You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: GOING UP BY CHOICE

SCRIPTURE: And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Genesis 25:30-34

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every position on earth is changeable by the force of decision

Our anchor Scripture presents an interesting story, the story of two twin brothers, Esau and Jacob. Esau was born first and Jacob born last. However, Jacob became the first by choice. Jacob went up by choice.

Now, here was what happened: Esau sold his birthright to Jacob in exchange for a pottage of lentils, thereby losing his position as the firstborn. Every position on earth is changeable by the force of decision. Anywhere you find yourself on earth can be changed.

Think about this: one of the most permanent things on earth is the position of birth. Being a first-born or second-born is a fixed position, but Jacob changed his second-born status and became the first-born by a decision.

If a second-born can become the first-born by a decision, there is nothing the right decision cannot make you become.

But think about it, how valid was the agreement between Jacob and Esau? The validity of it was evident when Isaac blessed his children. He may not have been aware of the situation, so he called Esau, his firstborn, to receive the firstborn’s blessing, but heaven already recorded the earlier transaction and God honoured it. Even though Jacob lied and said he was Esau, the blessing still landed on him. The blessing landed on Jacob because even in eternity, it was recorded that their birth positions had changed.

While people thought Jacob lied, God upheld the validity of the transaction and agreement that gave Jacob the firstborn position. Esau was no longer qualified for the firstborn’s blessing, having traded it for food. Thus, God was not approving a lie; He was only validating a transaction of choice or decision.

Some people may wonder why someone is where they are. It is all a matter of choice. I made my choices long ago to be a blessing to my generation and beyond.

While growing up, I chose to be different. My father was a man of means, owning brand-new luxury buses and lorries that generated good money weekly.

As a child, I decided never to partake in the sharing of my father’s properties when the time came. I knew I would have too much of my own to think about my father’s resources. I made that decision at a young age. I decided that the top position was where I would be.

Beloved, what choice have you made before, and what choice are you making today? Remember that a life left to chance has no chance. When you leave your life to chance, you have no chance. Nothing can be against a man who is not against himself. If you are not against yourself, nothing can be against you.

The natural position of Jacob’s birth could not work against him since he decided to change it and become the first.

Beloved, what defines you? What do your choices reflect, the moment or the future?

REMEMBER THIS: Every position on earth is changeable by the force of decision.

1. Make up your mind to go up against all odds.
2. Never allow your background to stand on your way to the top.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for showing me the power of choice. I receive the grace to make the right choice so I can enter the higher place You have called me into, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
