✝️📖TEXT: LUKE 24:49-53(NKJV)

49. "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."
50. And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
51. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
52. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
53. and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.

✝️📜STUDY:

The ascension of Jesus is a major tenet of the faith of Christians. Somehow, it is not given the prominence it deserves in the church. His ascension is proof that He conquered every enemy and that He reigns supremely far above all (Eph. 1:18-23). Christ returned to heaven and sat on the throne of glory (Jn. 17:5, 11). The last thing He did as He was ascending was to bless His people and this spontaneously aroused worship from them. The two always go together. As we truly worship Him, He will pour His blessings upon us. Before their very eyes, Jesus ascended (Acts 1:9). They were looking intently as He ascended, and suddenly, angels stood before them and said that this same Jesus would return, the same way that
He had ascended. The Apostles remained in the temple as instructed by Jesus and they were empowered by the Holy Spirit (Acts. 2:1 4) There is always a need to wait on the Lord to be empowered before embarking on any assignment given by Him. The need for the impartation of the power of the Holy Spirit cannot be over- emphasised. It takes a Christian far in the journey of faith a enables him experience Victory over all the powers of darkness. Live every day in the consciousness that Jesus will return again to rapture His Church and judge the world.

✝️🙏🏽PRAYER: Ask for fresh filling of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

✝️📖TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 3:1-11 (NKJV)

1. "Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan; and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
2. "And the LORD said to me, 'Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.'
3. "So the LORD our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we attacked him until he had no survivors remaining.
4. "And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
5. "All these cities [were] fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides a great many rural towns.
6. "And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city.
7. "But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as b***y for ourselves.
8. "And at that time we took the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who [were] on this side of the Jordan, from the River Arnon to Mount Hermon
9. '(the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir),
10. "all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
11. "For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the giants. Indeed his bedstead [was] an iron bedstead. ([Is] it not in Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits [is] its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit.

✝️📜STUDY

Israel was promised Canaan but, OG, the King of Bashan, came to battle with them at Edrei and God enabled them to defeat him (v.3). Similarly, God has given promises in the bible. In the journey to possess such promises, various "OGs" come to battle our business, health, children, education, work, spiritual life, possessions, etc. In verse 1, we need to expect battles when we try to possess Our possessions but God tells us not to fear our challenges. Why Because He has already made us conquerors and given us dominion" in Christ Jesus (v.2). 'Do not fear him for I have given him and people unto your hand.' Don't fear, though the battles against you are fiery with fortified cities, high walls, gates and bars. You will win as the Israelites defeated Sihon (v.2). God will give you victory as He did in your previous battles of life.

The Israelites believed God and smote OG, the king
Bashan. Hence, believe God and fight the battle of challenges on your knees, armed with the sure promises of God. As the Israelites acquired more lands and cities after the battle, you will surely have greater testimonies to the glory of God in Jesus name. So rise to fight the "OGs” in your heavenly walk to Canaan.

✝️🙏 PRAYER: Father I lay hold of Your promises and confront the 'OGs'
in my heavenly race in Jesus Name. Amen.

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN*
*DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE*
*CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)*
DATE: TUESDAY, 13TH APRIL, 2021
*TOPIC: TREASURES IN EARTHEN VESSELS*
READ: 2 CORINTHIANS 4:7-15 (NKJV)

7. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
8. [We are] hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair;
9. persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed --
10. always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
11. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12. So then death is working in us, but life in you.
13. And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak,
14. knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present [us] with you.
15. For all things [are] for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

*THE MESSAGE:*

The Gospel is a treasure that holds promise for this life and eternity. Jesus compared it to a pearl of great value that a merchant found went and sold all he had and bought (Matthew 13:45-46). The Gospel reveals the incomparably great power of God to us whom believe (Ephesians 1:3, 18-19). We are given authority to drive out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead and triumph over all the powers of the devil (Luke 10:9, 19-20). We can pray earnestly over an issue or situation, and receive answers from God (James 5:16-
18)

Have you enjoyed these treasures in your life or ministry? If not, ask God and wait patiently for them (Matthew 7:7; 21:21). Verse 7 shows that such great treasures of the Gospel are held in us mortals who can be compared with earthen vessels. Earthen vessels do not withstand pressure. They are easily broken. But as we depend on God, we can triumph over any situation that He permits to come. Do the situations around you make you feel hard-pressed, perplexed, persecuted or struck down? Read verses 8 to 10 and encourage yourself in the Lord. Believe and confess Romans 8:37 that you are more than a conqueror through Christ!

*PRAYER:* Oh God, help me to depend on You daily for victory over every situation. Amen.
