Spiritual Lamentation: The Wisdom of Concealment
O children of the Most High,
Why are your lips so quick to speak
What Heaven has barely whispered?
Why do your hands unveil
What God has hidden in the womb of time?
Have you not heard of Mary,
The silent mother of the Word,
Who, though angels sang and shepherds bowed,
Kept all these things and pondered them
In the quiet sanctuary of her heart?
She did not rush to proclaim,
Though she bore the Light of the world.
She waited.
She watched.
She wondered.
For she knew that divine things
Are not revealed by haste
But by the hand of time,
In the hour appointed by the Father.
But you, beloved of God,
So eager to be seen, to be known,
You cast pearls before timing,
You expose sacred seeds to unready soil,
And then lament when they do not grow.
Is every vision meant for the crowd?
Is every dream ripe for declaration?
What is holy must be hidden
Until the fullness of its fruit.
O Church, return to the rhythm of the Spirit.
Let not the fire in your bones
Outrun the wisdom of the Ancient of Days.
For to speak too soon
Is to birth Ishmael
When God has promised Isaac.
Learn from the Virgin’s silence.
Let your heart be a temple
Where the mysteries of God may dwell
Until He Himself commands the veil to part.
Wait, O soul.
Wait, and watch.
For what is revealed too early
May be destroyed too soon.
