I saw my roommate with a pregnancy test strip.
She had no idea that I had seen her.
Quietly, I walked into the room towards her.
Tears clouded her eyes as she looked at the strip in her hand, shock written all over her.
“Sarah” I called softly, placing my hand on her shoulder.
She je**ed. She wasn't expecting me, not by this time.
There was no point hiding it. I had seen everything already.
She dropped it on the ground.
She fell into my arms as she let the tears flow like a river.
In a few minutes, my top was soaked with her tears.
“I'm pregnant, roomie.
I'm pregnant” she kept whispering.
Even if she said nothing else, those words were enough.
I perfectly understood what the situation meant for her.
Sarah was just in 200 level and was from a godly home.
This was the last thing her parents would ever want to hear, but it was already a reality.
“Why did l allow him?
But it was just once! We did it just once!
If I had known that it would end this way, I wouldn't have done it.”
I let her voice her feelings and vent her frustration.
I only listened.
“My friends, they told me of how sweet s£x is, and I was eager to experience it.
I didn't know it would end this way.
My life! I'm finished!” she screamed.
“No, you're not finished.”
“Of course, I am.
The only way out of this, is abortion.
I think I should abort this baby.
I can't let my parents know about this” she said.
“No, no! Abortion is not the option.
You would only be making matters worse.
Don't kill the innocent child.
It has happened already.
We will have to go about this the right way.
I know it's not easy, but we have to do it.
Your parents should know about this” I explained to her.
She was silent.
She had a distant look in her eyes, she was definitely thinking about a lot of things at the moment.
I knew it was going to be hard for her, but the deed had been done already.
She made a choice, and the consequences were upon her.
If only she had abstained.
