It was late at night. For many nights, the mother had been staying awake, feeding her little one. Her eyes grew heavy with sleep, but every time her baby cried, she immediately woke up and held him close.
This time, however, the mother came up with a clever idea. She painted open eyes on her eyelids—so that even when she was asleep, it looked as though she was awake and watching over her baby.
Whenever the baby looked up while drinking milk, he felt reassured that his mother’s eyes were on him, full of love. He would quietly finish his milk and fall asleep peacefully.
In truth, the mother was resting, but her love never slept. That’s what makes a mother so special— a little creativity, a little innocence, and endless sacrifice.
Because for a mother, even the deepest sleep means nothing compared to the comfort of her child’s smile.
