TOPIC: THE PRIMACY OF BRIDLED TONGUE

MEMORISE:
I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me." - (Psalm 39:1).

READ: Psalm 39:1-3 (NKJV)

EXPOSITION:
The psalmist's declaration in Psalm 39 underscores the importance of guarding one's speech. This passage highlights the potential harm that can arise from unbridled speech and the power of the tongue to lead one into sin. Through deliberate restraint and discipline, the psalmist chooses silence in the face of the wicked. This emphasises the significance of thoughtful communication and avoidance of negative words.

The unruly nature of the tongue is a universal challenge, calling for self-EXPOSITION James 3:1-12 highlight the power and potential harm of the tongue, urging us to exercise restraint and discipline in our speech. Bridling the tongue signifies mature and wise control over one's whole body. Let us strive to use our tongues for uplifting others, by speaking words that edify others (Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 4:6). May we cultivate the language that reflects God's love and wisdom in our daily dealings in Jesus' name (Proverbs 16:24); and tell not a joke that brings damnation. Happy Tell a Joke Day.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Grant me the grace to use my tongue for the lifting of others, oh Lord.

2. May my tongue always be seasoned with salt, reflecting Your wisdom, oh Lord, in Jesus' name.

3. Help us to cultivate language that reflects Your love and wisdom in our interactions with others, oh God.

PROVERBS 10:6
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

INSPIRATION:
We know that our future, as children of God, is a blessed future – filled with joy and peace. But the wicked face a terrible future faced with pain, sorrow, and great violence. We need to make sure that we do not stop preaching to the wicked so that they can turn from their ways and become saved. They are God's children too.

PRAYER:
Dear God, I pray for any person who operates wickedly – whether they know it or not. Lord, I pray that they will come to the knowledge of who you are and they will repent. I desire to see more and more people become your children, Lord. Thank you that it will be so. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

INSPIRATION :
The truest way for us to express the love we say we have is through our deeds. Our actions are a reflection of our thoughts and what we keep in our heart. Think of your actions, do they speak love or are they contrary to God's love?

PRAYER:
Dear God, I pray that in everything I do, my actions will reflect your love that resides in my heart. May I never be a hypocrite, claiming to love but actually doing otherwise. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

GALATIANS 3:26-27

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

INSPIRATION

It is our faith in Jesus Christ that qualifies us as children of God. When we believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who did all of this so that we could be saved, we are accepting the new life He has given us. This is a life of redemption; a life as sons and daughters of God, whom we became separated from after the Fall of man. We have now come into a life of righteousness and holiness.

PRAYER

Thank you, Lord, for setting me free from the sin power had over my life. I have chosen to leave my old, sinful self and I am fully focused on walking in the life of righteousness and holiness you have called me to live through your Son. Thank you, Father, that you are always there to reinforce my faith when anyone tries to tell me otherwise. My eyes will remain fixed on you, O Lord. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

GEN. 3:6

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

INSPIRATION

The forbidden fruit is illustrative of temptation and sin in general. Eve took and ate what God had commanded her not to eat due to three factors: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the prideful desire to acquire "wisdom" apart from God. We too struggle in today in all three areas in striving to resist sin.

PRAYER

You have promised, Lord, to always provide a door of escape when we face temptations. But we must be looking for that escape hatch and must be willing to use it. We are tempted to please our bodies, eyes, and prideful minds more than to please you; but by your grace, Lord, we can overcome every temptation that Satan may attack us with in Jesus name. Amen.

NIGHT PRAYER
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

INSPIRATION
Human life ends. Life through Christ is endless. Who you are now does not mean that is who you have to be later. If we submit to the Lord and believe, we can change from something that ends to something eternal.

PRAYER
I want to be closer to you, O Lord, my God. Give me the courage to follow your word and believe in all the good that you have given to those of us that struggle to comprehend. Help me to comprehend and I will live everyday like that gift that it is. I will do this as your son, Jesus Christ, showed me, and it is in his name that I pray. Amen.

Today's Scripture: Zachariah 4:7-9

What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will becomelevel ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’

Then the word of the Lord came to me:
The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.

I command by the power in the name of Jesus Christ, that every mighty mountains before you should be level to the ground, and whatever good things you have laid your hands upon shall be completed in Jesus name, Amen.

Psalms 16:8 - - I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Don't be distracted.As Diamond is single out of stone, rose outstanding among Flowers; so shall God single you and your family out for Favour, Blessing, prosperity and Peace. "When the Lord remembers Zion, they be like they that dreamt". I pray for you this morning, may God remember you as He remembered Zion. May He surprise you with His Grace, and cause you to dance like David danced. God shall be there for you at every point of your need. The blessings of God shall not pass you by. His glory shall surely manifest in your life. May those who stand on your progress stumble and fall, and may all the curses from your enemies be turned into blessing.
