MEMORY VERSE: "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it". -- 1Corithains 10-13

BIBLE PASSAGE: JAMES 1:12-16

James:1.12
Blessed [is] the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
James:1.13
Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
James:1.14
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
James:1.15
Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
James:1.16
Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

INTRODUCTION
In the Bible, the word 'temptation' primarily donates a trial in which men has a free choice of being faithful or unfaithful to God (Gen. 22:1). Secondarily, it signifies allurement or seduction to sin. The latter is a desire to engage in short-term urges for enjoyment, that threatens long-term goals. Temptation is one of the most familiar experiences of a true child of God and no one can totally escape from it. Even our Lord Jesus Christ was tempted (Matthew 4:1 Hebrews 4:15).This is why the lord taught us to include in our daily prayer the petition, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

MEMORY VERSE: "Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him". -- Acts 12:5

BIBLE PASSAGE: MATTHEW 18:18-20

Matthew:18.18
"Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Matthew:18.19
"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
Matthew:18.20
"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

INTRODUCTION
The Church is God's agency on earth that demonstrates His love, wisdom and power. Jesus said,“… I will build my church; and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto the keys of the kingdom of Heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven”. (Matthew 16:18-19). Prayer is a mighty weapon in the church with unprecedented outcomes upon the church, the world and God's kingdom. Therefore, we must understand the role of the church thought prayer and its resultant effects.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. REASONS AND CONDITIONS
2. SCOPE AND RESULTS

REASONS AND CONDITIONS

The church employs prayer to make effective the Word, the name, and the Spirit of God in fulfilling her divine mandate (Acts 2:42). God listens to the church (Jer. 33:3; Matt. 18:19). The church needs to pray for constant fellowship with God with one another (Acts 2:42); for exhortation and edification-building of the faith of believers in God (Heb. 10:25; 1Tim 3:10) and to remind God of His promise to protect His Church from the attack of the enemy (Matt. 16:18). The church needs to also pray for the demonstration of God's power through Miracles, sign and wonders(Acts 5:12; 12:5).
For the prayer of the church to be effective and result-oritened, the members must live in holiness as saints of God because the prayer of sinners is abomination unto God (Prov. 15:8). The church member must relate with singleness of heart and be united in faith (Act 2:1; 4:24; 2Peter 1:1). Such prayer must be scripture-based (Dan. 9:2-3), specific (Act 4:29-30), fervent (James 5:16), spirit-led (Rom. 8:26; Jude 20) and with the assurance of response from God (Acts 4:31; 1John 5:14-15).

SCOPE AND RESULTS

The prayer of the church should cover Sinners' conversion (Acts 2:21); Family needs (Acts 16:32); Nations' requests (Romans 10:1-3); people in authority and all men (1Tim 2:1-4); Church Leader (Colossians 4:3-4); Church work (Matt. 16:18-19); Individual request (James 5:13); Wrestling territorial powers (2Cor. 10:4-6); etc.
The essence of prayer is its result. The Church prayed for peter with unity and God answered speedily (Act 12:5-11). Similarly, the church prayed desperately for auction to function and this turned around the course of the church (Act 4:29-31). Hence, the earnest and sincere heart-Prayers of the church, based upon the word of God, accomplish much. The results include: God's presence and power (Acts 4:31); Boldness of the saint to witness (Acts 14:3); Empowerment of believers for exploits (Acts 4:33); Growth of the church (Acts 5:12-14); Spiritual strength and maturity (Colossians 1:9-11); Prosecution of world evangelisation though mission outreaches (Acts 13:1-3); Miracle, signs and Wonder (Acts 5:12); God's visitation to release incarcerated saint (Acts 12:5-11).

CONCLUSION
Prayer makes the church to grow, glow and gracious. The major hindrance to the prayer of the church is sin and disunity.

QUESTIONS
1. What are the reason the church of God must pray and the conditions?
2. What area should the prayer of a church cover and the result?
