Are you a letter from Christ?
βYou yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts" (2nd Cor 3:2-3)
Have you ever thought of yourself as a letter written by Christ to be read by those around you? The verses above ask you to do just that. Along, long time ago when I taught writing to junior high school students, one of my favourite topics was letter writing. These lessons covered four important points which i hope will help apply the above verses to your life in a practical way.
First, a letter should reflect the personality of the sender. In this case, as a letter from Christ you should reflect Him to all who read you.
Second, the letter should be written to actually be read to someone. The Lord has written you to be an open letter read "by everybody" who comes in contact with you. No matter where you go, when people read you they should read Christ in your words and actions.
Third, the letterβs message should be clear, simple, and to the point. If those who read you don't know you're a follower of Jesus, maybe it's because you're sending out mixed, or confused messages--- a "no no" in a good letter.
Fourth, the letter should have a return address telling the recipient from whom and from where the letter is coming. When people meet you, do they know where you're coming from?
Based on the above verses, will whoever reads the letter (which you are) exclaim, βIβd really like to meet the letter writer!"
