I blessed today is a memorable day in my life and in my family, the day that the Lord gave me a special gift.
How it started, God helped me to take in, even when I wasn’t expecting. And God helped me to take in of my twin pregnancy, a twin pregnancy, and it began to be to the glory of God.
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward.” (Psalm 127:3)
First month, second month, third month, till the fifth month, everything was going well to the glory of God.
So on that faithful day, which was on the 7th of January, 2023, I just had a pressing in my heart to go for a scan. So I decided to go.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)
And returning from the scan, I discovered that one of the babies in the womb was already gone.
The sonographer did not want to say much, but asked me to quickly rush to the hospital. As I came out and checked the scan, I discovered that one of the babies was already gone. Not knowing what to do, I came back home and began to pray and ask God.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
So I called one of our mommies in the house, who is my sister, and we went to the hospital. Seeing the first doctor, the doctor said they were going to flush the two babies because this kind of case is so rare.
But before then, I was asked to run another scan to confirm what the first one had said, and when we did, it was confirmed that one of the babies was gone.
So the doctor insisted that they were going to flush the two babies because it was just five months.
But I prayed a prayer in my heart and said,
“God, please let only Your will be done.”
Because I remembered,
“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord… plans of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
I also prayed that God should connect me to the right doctor because I did not want to lose the two babies.
After that prayer, we had to wait for a specialist who was actually busy in the theatre. We waited for about an hour before he finally came. He saw the result, examined me, and consoled me. He asked me to be calm and said everything will be fine.
At the end of everything, he said that I will keep the pregnancy, that they will monitor me, and that they are not going to flush it.
I said, Glory be to God.
“With God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
I was asked to run a series of tests to check if there were any complications or infections, but all the tests came out fine. There was no problem. Though one of the babies was gone, the other one was still alive and healthy.
According to the scan, it was a monochorionic placenta — both babies shared one placenta.
Oh Jesus, thank You.
From that moment, it became a journey of faith. I was going for scans almost every week. They kept monitoring me closely. I was praying and believing God for life.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
I cried. I wept. Because I loved twins. That was exactly what I wanted from God — twin boys. But in all, I held on to God.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)
As the months went by, God sustained me. There was no infection, no complication, no harm to my body or to the baby that was alive. God preserved us.
“The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.” (Psalm 121:7)
The pregnancy continued… sixth month, seventh month, eighth month… and God was faithful through it all.
