OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY JANUARY 23RD 2026
THEME: FROM GOOD TO VERY GOOD

MEMORISE:
"And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:"
Genesis 26:13
BIBLE READING: 2 KINGS 4:8-17
8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
9 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
10 Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
11 And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.
12 And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
13 And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? Wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
14 And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
15 And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.
16 And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.

*MEMORIZE:*
"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:10-11

*BIBLE READING: MARK 16:17-18*

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

*MESSAGE:*
To subdue means to overcome and then exercise dominion. In Genesis 39:1-6, Joseph was brought into Potiphar's house as a slave. However, God's blessing made a way for him, and Potiphar put him in charge of everything in his house. When Joseph ended up in prison after his master's wife lied against him, he was asked to be in charge of the prison's affairs (Genesis 39:20-23). Eventually, Joseph ended up being a mighty ruler in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh.

And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt. - (Genesis 41:42-44)

According to Philippians 2:9-11, you can control situations and circumstances because of the name of Jesus Christ. Likewise, Mark 16:17-18 says:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

As a child of God, you have access to the name of Jesus Christ, and this means that you should operate in dominion - you should be unstoppable. In Acts 5:17-29, when Peter and his colleagues were imprisoned, the angel of the Lord came at night and set them free. When Peter was captured and put in prison again in Acts 12:1-17, God moved again and set him free.

Beloved, your story will only get better than it is currently so long as Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour. Proverbs 4:18 says that the path of the just is as a shining light that shines more and more unto the perfect day. This means that, no matter what the enemy has done, your life is to be better today than it was yesterday. Believe in the name of Jesus wholeheartedly and use His name to subdue any negative situation that arises around you. This way, you will indeed walk in dominion, and nothing will be able to stop you.

*KEY POINT:*
The name of Jesus is your weapon to subdue and have dominion on the earth.

2. In the name of Israel's God we'll onward press, Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness; Not to us, but unto Him the praise shall be, For Salvation and for blood bought victory.

3. Unto him that overcometh shall be given, Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav'n, Over yonder he the victors palm shall bear, And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

*MESSAGE:*
It is good to grow, but according to Genesis 1:27-28, your growth should be in multiples. God's original plan for us is to increase by multiplication and not just by addition. Increase by addition is good, but that is a basic expectation. For example, it is expected that a child should be promoted from one class this year to the next class the following year. However, if a child is moved two or more classes higher than his or her current class within the space of one year, that commands special notice.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY, JANUARY 20TH 2026

DATE: TUESDAY, JANUARY 20TH 2026

THEME: DIVINE RESTORATION

MEMORISE:
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Joel 2:25-26

BIBLE READING: MARK 8:22-25
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

MESSAGE:
Divine restoration is God's act of bringing a person or something back to its intended state. For example, when something that God created to be full becomes empty, a divine restoration will be required for it to become full again. God can restore what seems to have been lost forever. No matter what the case may be, I want you to know that you serve a God who can raise dry bones and make them a mighty army (Ezekiel 37:1-14). I pray for you right now that the Lord will restore whatever things you have lost that seem impossible to regain, in Jesus' name.

"For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
Mark 11:23

*BIBLE READING: JAMES 1:5-7*
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

*MESSAGE:*
Today’s Bible reading says that you should only ask God for things in faith. It further says that if you doubt, you should not expect to get anything from God. I know that some situations can look scary and tough, but if you want to live above those situations, you have to believe in God. In Matthew 14:28-29, Peter’s faith was unwavering when he told Jesus, …bid me come unto thee on the water.” However, when he looked at the boisterous wind around him and stopped believing, he started to sink. No matter how tough things are, do not lose your faith.

When I got born again in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, I was extremely happy about my salvation, but I was very sickly. Every two weeks, I would be sick with malaria and would require medical treatment. At that time, whenever Christians talked about healing without medication, I did not believe them. I used to say, “You have shown me the way to heaven; don’t send me there too quickly.” Then, one day, I heard a testimony from an old man about how God miraculously healed him of a bent back, and immediately, my faith was aroused. I thank God that since that time, that faith has been getting stronger daily. If you want to see great miracles in your life, believe what God has said. If He has done mighty wonders before, He can do them again and again.

I once went to a Kenneth Hagin camp meeting in the United States of America and saw about 7,000 people in One convention. I had never seen anything like that before because, at that time, the entire congregation of The Redeemed Christian Church of God was less than 1,000. However, while on the plane back to Nigeria, I told those who went with me that, one day, our pastors alone would be more than 17,000. They didn’t believe me. Today, God has surpassed my expectations. When you have faith in God, He sets you up to break records. He makes you a wonder unto many when you believe.

Science says prove it, and I will believe you. However, God says believe Me, then I will prove it. When God asks you to do something, believe Him. Don’t try to add or remove from what He has said. Just believe, and He will do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

*Chorus:*
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,

2 When darkness seems to veils His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

3 His oath, His covenant, and His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

4 When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Matthew 10:16

*BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 17:1-16*
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

*MESSAGE:*
It is commonly said that statues are never built in honour of critics. While it is not bad to criticise people who are not doing what they ought to be doing, you must not just stop there.

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. (1 Kings 17:1)

In the Scripture above, we see that Elijah started out as a critic. The king wasn't behaving in the right manner, and just like any critic, Elijah walked into the palace and confronted him. However, he didn't stop there; he moved on to become a vessel that God used to provide for the needs of a poor widow and her son (1 Kings 17:8-16).

Would you rather become a mere critic or an activist whom God will use to put solutions forward? Would you be content with only carrying placards and protesting or also becoming so wealthy that you can feed the hungry? Carrying placards and protesting will attract the attention of the people you are criticising. However, beyond that, you must grow to a point where you can recommend and even provide some of the solutions you are demanding. Don't just become a critic that challenges those in authority; grow to the point where your impact cannot be ignored.

This message is particularly for youths. They should learn from Moses who thought he could fulfil his destiny his own way, and as a result, he had to stay in the wilderness for another 40 years until he was ready. The positive change you want can happen, but you must be wise enough to let it happen in God's way. Matthew 10:16 says, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." Christians need to be as strategic as serpents. The most dangerous thing about a serpent is its silence when it wants to attack its prey. When it attacks, the prey only realises it when it is already too late.

Beloved, be wise. God has a great destiny for you, but you must not let overzealousness prevent you from fulfilling your destiny. Rather than just being a mere noisemaker, increase your capacity so that you can indeed become a force to be reckoned with. Your zeal should be matched with the right knowledge and actions (Romans 10:1-2).

*KEY POINT:*
Don't just criticise things or people; become a part of the solution you desire to see.

*BIBLE READING: JOHN 2:1-12*
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

*MESSAGE:*
Today's Bible reading tells us the story of the wedding in Cana of Galilee. When wine finished at the wedding, Mary informed Jesus about it, expecting Him to provide a solution. However, Jesus replied that His time had not yet come. Mary must have smiled and said to herself, "Son, your time will come tonight." She told the men confidently, "Do whatever He asks you to do," and before the end of the day, 'not yet' became 'now'.

You can also command a miracle from God. You can pray in such a way that you will know that God has heard and your miracle is on the way. Jabez was a man who prayed such a prayer. For many years, he was labelled as a cause of pain and sorrow until he said, "Enough is enough." He called on God to turn his situation around, and He granted his request.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. (1 Chronicles 4:10)

We don't know how long Jabez prayed for, but we know the result of his prayer: God turned his story around. In the name above every other name, whatever you have long waited for will come speedily.

To command your miracle, you must know how to engage in fervent prayers and be persistent with them. James said that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16). During a Holy Ghost Service at Redemption City, I waved my hands as I stood on the altar, and miracles started happening. It is possible for some pastors who saw that happen to wonder, "Why can't I also wave and have miracles happen? I serve the same God this man serves; I also pray and fast regularly." However, they may not know that before that day, I had been praying that miracles should happen just at the wave of my hands for about fifteen years. Some of the things people see happening now in RCCG are the result of my persistence with God in the place of prayers.

Beloved, don't be tired of waiting on God. Command your miracles by remaining persistent in the place of prayer. As you pray, take heed to the Holy Spirit's instructions. Obey them, and you will receive your miracle before long.

*PRAYER POINT:*
Father, please help me to remain persistent in the place of prayer, in Jesus' name.

*MESSAGE*
In Genesis 47:7-9, Pharaoh asked Jacob, "How old are you?" Jacob responded, "I have travelled 130 years; my forefathers travelled longer." The question, 'How old are you?" simply means, how far have you gone in the journey of life? The moment you are born, you begin a journey on earth. However, when you die, that journey ends; then, you face eternity either in heaven or hell, depending on whether you gave your life to Jesus Christ or not.

Let me ask you a question: since you're on a journey on the earth, are you travelling in the right direction? Do you know God's ordained destination for you?

Today, many people travel through life without seeking to know God's will concerning their destination - you cannot afford to do that. You were born for a purpose, and if that purpose is not fulfilled, you will answer to the Giver of the life you are living now. Your decisions, whether small or big, will determine your destination in life. In Genesis 13:10-11, Lot decided on where to settle based on how pleasant the place looked without finding out God's will. That single decision changed the course of his life and those of his descendants forever.

Beloved, the One who set you on this journey has a predetermined destination for you and a map for you to get there. He said in Jeremiah 29:11 that He will bring you to an expected end. While God reveals destinations, He does not provide the full details about the journey all at once. He told Abraham, "Leave your father's house, and I will take you to a land that I will show you." He also told the lsraelites, "I will take you to a Promised Land." He showed Joseph that he would become a great ruler, and He also told Peter that He would make him a fisher of men. All these people had an idea of the destination, but the map to get there remained with God. The map that shows how you will fulfil destiny is with God; if you stay close to Him, He will guide you. David said in Psalm 119:105:
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

Beloved, if you lose your relationship with God, you will lose your map, and you will likely arrive at the wrong destination. Stay close to God, and let Him guide all your steps in this journey of life.

*PRAYER POINT*
Father, please help me to remain close to You forever so that l can arrive at Your ordained destination for my life, in Jesus' name.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

[Refrain]

3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

[Refrain]

4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.

[Refrain]
