Believers seem to be indifferent in promoting kingdom business! .
The church cannot be indifferent to spiritual matters and fervent at the same time. Regular self-examination is necessary for every Christian. Fervency is a positive condition of the church which should be held fast to the end. God hates lukewarmness. If you are cold pray that God makes you hot.

TOPIC: A LIFESTYLE OF GRATITUDE
Text: Psalms 103:1-10; Luke 17:11-19; Hebrews 13:15
Bible Focus: “Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits” – Psalms 103:2
Central Truth: A lifestyle of Gratitude attracts God’s blessings

Gratitude as defined by Oxford advanced learner’s dictionary as, “the feeling of being grateful and wanting to express your thanks”. A person who receives kindness and favour from someone else is expected to show gratitude. Gratitude starts with a feeling or awareness that someone has shown you kindness. It however does not end with the feeling as it progresses from a feeling to a physical expression of thanksgiving or appreciation. Today’s lesson focuses on a lifestyle of thanksgiving. We need to learn to be grateful to God and others when they show us kindness.

INTRODUCTION
Gratitude as defined by Oxford advanced learner’s dictionary is, “the feeling of being grateful and wanting to express your thanks”.

LESSON OUTLINE
1. REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL - Psalms 103:1 – 10
You may ask, “Why should I be grateful, what has the Lord done for me?” There are several reasons to be grateful. In Psalms 103, David expressed his deepest desire to bless the Lord with all that was within him while not forgetting His innumerable benefits. Humans easily forget the good things they receive after a while. The devil tries to place life challenges before us to make us forget the goodness of God. David reminds us of some of the benefits including:
1. He forgives all our iniquities – Psalms 103:3a
2. He heals our diseases – Psalms 103:3b
3. He redeems our life from destruction – Psalms 103:4a
4. He crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies – Psalms 103:4b
5. He satisfies your mouth with good things – Psalms 103:5
6. He executes righteousness and judgement for the oppressed – Psalms 103:6
7. He is merciful and restrains his anger despite our shortcomings – Psalms 103:8-10; Lamentation 3:22
II. AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE – Luke 17: 11-19
Luke 17:11 – 19 narrates the story of 10 l***rs who were healed by Jesus on his way to Jerusalem as he passed through Samaria and Galilee. In the Old Testament, the Israelites were commanded to put l***rs outside the camp since they were ceremonially unclean (Numbers 5:2-3; Lev. 13:13). Jesus directed them to the priest to fulfill the requirements for the cleansing of leprosy as stated in Lev. 14. However, only 1 out of the 10 returned with great excitement to express his gratitude to Jesus. He fell down at the feet of Jesus with a grateful heart to thank him. The grateful l***r was a Samaritan who demonstrated an attitude of gratitude. Sometimes, Christians take the miracles and kindness of God for granted, while unbelievers tend to show more gratitude after a miracle. Negative attitudes can be infectious as seen in the nine l***rs who were ingrates. Jesus in amazement asked “Where are the nine? Have you replaced your altar of gratitude with a habit of complaining? You need to develop an attitude of gratitude if you desire to experience wholeness. Hebrews 13:15 admonishes us to continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord forgive me for every attitude of ungratefulness and complaining
2. With a grateful heart I thank you for all you have done for me.
