*Topic: Honour*
*Text: Romans 13:7*
Honor is a foundational concept in the Bible, deeply rooted in the character of God and His expectations for human relationships. Honor, as depicted in the Scriptures, involves a profound respect and reverence for God, authority figures, and fellow human beings. It is an essential virtue that reflects the moral and ethical standards set forth by God for His people.
*A: Honour God*
1. The Bible emphasizes that honor begins with God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word for honor, "kavod," often refers to the glory and weightiness of God's presence. (Psalm 29:2).
2. This call to honor God is echoed throughout Scripture, underscoring the importance of recognizing His sovereignty and majesty. (Matthew 22:37, Prov. 3:9-10, Heb.13:15)
3. The benefits of those who honour God (1 Sam. 2:30).
*B: Honour Your Father*
1. Children are commanded to honour their father and mother (Exodus 20:12).
2. Honour to your parents is connected to longevity (Ephesians 6:1-2).
3. Honour to your parents is unconditional (Gen. 9:14-29).
4. Honoring parents is not merely about obedience but involves a deep respect and appreciation for their role and sacrifices.
5. It is a lifelong commitment that extends beyond childhood, reflecting a broader principle of honoring those who have authority and responsibility over us.
