*BOUND FOR CANAAN*

📜📜```EXODUS 6:4-8```📜📜

🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮
🔑📖```Key Verse:``` _*"And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers" (Exodus 6:4).*_

📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖

Christians are on a journey. You may ask, *journey to where?* It is the journey to heaven; the *Promised Land,* also referred to as *Canaan Land.* The land of Canaan in the Bible refers to the ancient place God promised to give to Abraham and his descendants, as reward for his obedience and faithfulness.

It is not merely the land where the Israelites would live, it is the promised land, an inheritance of God's chosen people. *For Christians, the land of Canaan signifies the beautiful home of God in heaven.*

The journey to heaven is a tough one that requires full commitment, discipline and focus. There are many attractions and distractions in the world that can hinder a friend of Jesus from getting to heaven.

Friends of Jesus must therefore remember that they are strangers in this world and must fight against worldly hindrances on their way to heaven. *The temptation to go back to sin must be resisted. No enjoyment in this world can be compared to the benefits in heaven. The promised Land is flowing with milk and honey.*

*As Joshua led Israel into the land of Canaan to possess the land, Jesus will take His friends to heaven, the place of spiritual rest and give them the promised inheritance. When we get to heaven, we shall rest from all our troubles. Make up your mind to be there.*

*WORK WITH COMMITMENT*

📜📜```TEXT:ECCLESIASTES 9:10-12```📜📜

📖```MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest" (ECCLESIASTES 9:10).*_

*Martin Luther King Jr. once said that: "If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well."*

*Luther made this statement to challenge people to see hard work and diligence as good and profitable qualities. Youths should see diligence as a virtue, not a burden. Those who see hard work as a burden are usually unserious and can be easily distracted.*

*The Lord has placed in the hands of all His children different types of secular and spiritual tasks which should be accomplished. Youths are usually innovative and strong. They should channel their energies towards accomplishing their assigned tasks so that they can make the world a better place spiritually and secularly; and by so doing, be on the good side of history. Arise, be an active and victorious youth of this generation.*

*VALIANT SOLDIERS OF CHRIST*

📜📜```TEXT:1 CHRONICLES 11:26-47```📜📜

🔑📖```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem" (1 CHRONICLES 11:26).*_

*C. H. Morris, the great hymn writer in one of her hymns titled _At the Battle's front,_ wrote:*

_*"I've enlisted for life in the army of the Lord,*_
_*Though the fight may be long, and the struggle fierce and hard;*_
_*With the armour of God and the Spirit's trusty sword,*_
_*At the front of the battle you will find me."*_

*Valiant soldiers are always found at the battle front where enemies are being valiantly discomfited, defeated and the battles won.*

*The text shows an array of David's valiant men of war. They were tough, rugged and no pleasure seekers. They preferred rejection, danger and every hardship of life to living under the oppressive hands of King Saul. They fought alongside David until he was made king over Israel and his kingdom was fully established.*

*David had a stable government because he had supportive and loyal men around him. Jesus' army is expected to be made up of valiant soldiers who will not disappoint the Lord. We must work assiduously as valiant soldiers for the Master so as to be accorded the honour of heroes at the end of our life. A steadfast Christian soldier is never a deserter. He endures hardness and is never a lover of the world or the attraction it holds. He loves the Lord with the whole of His heart.*

*We are challenged to be counted among the brave men who will risk their lives for the sake of the gospel. There are captive souls that need valiant men to rescue them. Let us courageously wield the weapons of prayer and the gospel to set the captives free from sin, Satan and incurable sicknesses. We need valiant soldiers of Christ to turn the world around for Him and restore righteousness, holiness and hope of eternity in heaven to the nations.*

*PRETENTIOUS PILATE*

📜📜```TEXT:JOHN 19:1-16```📜📜

📖```MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him" (JOHN 19:4).*_

*Pilate in our text today demonstrated inconsistency in his character and judgment of a case brought before him. He admitted that Christ had no fault, but went ahead to grant the request of the Jews to crucify the Lord of glory.*

*The attitude of Pilate is still found among many youths today. Many of them know that sin is bad and has grave consequences, but indulge in them secretly and outwardly pretend to be holy and righteous. This kind of behaviour is simply hypocrisy.*

*Some youths may be outwardly seen in the school fellowship as vibrant and committed believers, while they are still committing fornication and other sins in the secret. Your pastor may not know those committing sin secretly, but God knows and will judge them except they repent.*

*John Milton in _Paradise Lost_ said, "For neither man nor angel can discern hypocrisy, the only evil that walks invisible, except to God alone." Run away from hypocrisy because the joy of the hypocrite is for a short time.*

💭```QUOTE:``` _*Many of them know that sin is bad.*_

*SAMSON*

📜📜```JUDGES 16:23-31```
📜📜

🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮
🔑📖```Key Verse:``` _*"And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines... So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life" (Judges 16:30).*_

📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖

Samson was a special child, born to deliver the children of Israel from the Philistines, their enemy. Although the Lord had blessed Samson and empowered him, he made great mistakes that led to his failure.

He showed a lack of concern and respect for God's commandments. He also disregarded his parents' godly advice and rejected his godly heritage. Samson misused God's gifts and power for personal gain.

After a while, the Spirit of the Lord departed from Samson and he was captured by his enemies. It was a moment of regret for him. However, he realized his errors at the tail end of his life. He repented, called upon the Lord, and his prayer was answered.

There are major lessons to be learnt from the life of Samson. He failed to control his desires, he disobeyed his parents, and his life and ministry were cut short. However, he later realized his mistakes and turned back to God. He called upon God in his distress, and God answered him.

*Maybe you have done some wrong things in your life; the Bible tells us that God is willing to forgive us. Come back to Him and repent of your sins today, and He will forgive you.*
